It’s amazing what you can fit in these size vans when being smart. I have a long wheelbase transit custom and honestly it’s a tardis. Would never go back to cars
Every van is a compromise which is why there is so much creativity in design and debate amongst owners. In the end everyone has slightly different needs and can accept different things. I'm glad you are happy with your van Ben.
We have a Marco Polo Horizon (the basic one) which we haven’t used in anger with e-bikes yet. It’s a long wheelbase model and your bikes fit perfectly. My issue is when we’re sleeping on the top and if the bikes will be in the van. I think you proved it possible! Thanks!
nice, pretty similar to my old van except i put in a garage at the back and accepted that i would take the front wheels off. 2 big bikes and room for 4 sleeping. It was great until.......... the 2nd kid arrived! Now i know you are just into this situation as well. What we found was that the amount of storage was tight and then you had these 2 massive kid seats to deal with to flip the van into sleep mode. The only real solution was adoption or a bigger van and we had grown quite like baby 2 so we went bigger van. Smaller van now living the dream with new owners who have just 1 little one to transport. All good. If you are back down in the tweed valley i can show you the new set up. Its a compromise on driving/parking, but all vans are a compromise
Lad I've been waiting for this for ages. Thanks for an overview. I don't think I could ever stomach the costs, lease/finance makes it better but I'm a petrol head at heart and need something to hoon on the way to the trails. For yourself it makes complete sense and I hope you enjoy ownership.
Whoop whoop the VW California beach camper - I love this 85.000€ glamper van! Too expensive by all means, but you get a lot for your money if you can afford it.
I think if we in the UK had the same towbar mounted racks as the Americans we'd be fine... They have the ones that swing out to the side and can hold tons of bikes. Unfortunately UK doesn't sell them due to fitment issues. Let me know if this is not the case anymore.
Living in Scotland you should not have had a barn door van, you need the tailgate version, it provides a large rain shelter when getting your kit sorted or working on ya bike, 😉
Great van 👍 ……just to help others by explaining some potential trade offs. I chose a longer van so therefore not as manoeuvrable or undercover…. but has toilet and shower. Also pop top sleeping is fine but it is effectively “camping on the roof”…you can be chilly/damp at night in cold weather, so I wanted to be able to sleep in van, with bikes as well, and for that I have to remove front wheel, but for a roadie, that’s no big deal.
Oh…My…God!.. That IS the absolute best van build for mtbing ever! I was having the same thoughts with my build as I wanted the bikes in the van too without taking the wheels off. Ben are their more in-depth details on the build? I would love to use it as a template for my build. It really is the best one I’ve seen! Great vid! 👍🤘
Great review and great van Ben but where's the toilet ? There's no way my wife would be happy with a bucket ! Serious question though, what is the normal method of dealing with the issue with this type of van ?
Could you remove the rock an roll bed and just have the bikes on some kind of standalone rack, if you were headed away on a long trip, for better access to the campervan bits?
How did you get up there again?? As always, less means more. Crump with everything not sure you would have the will to get all that hassle on or the day you tried, you've never gone back again, lol
Love it, as a mtber the down side of a rock and roll bed is where do you put your bike when sleeping, luckily you have a pop top.
One of the best vw camper van videos I've seen for practicality..
This looks like the perfect van for weekends and summer road-trips! I could never fully utilize the setups that full time van-lifers use.

With this and the pink bike video releasing at the same time!? Double Cathro Wednesday!!!!
Make sure you post that on the pinkbike video as well, don't think all the pinkbikers know he has his own channel.
Yah buddy!!
Really nice compromises without really compromising much.

That's pretty mint, I still want to see a vlog of family camping trip + 2 bikes though, might want a bigger one then!
Very slick, great finish.
excellent. is the most convenient one among all these videos i have seen on yt. I think I will go on with this one in my project

Fabulous bit of kit Ben.
Looks brilliant and super practical.
This van is the definition of awesome
Dammn by far the coolest setup

I wish these VW's were available in the states
It would sell like such hotcakes here
Blame it in your chicken tax
That van is sick. Nice mate!

I'M GETTING ONE NOW!!!
nice fitout
i remember the earlier vids from Ben with this old Ford, lol. These german Campervans are much to expensive, regards from germany.
Happy for you!

Amazing as always Ben!
So genius. Didn't except how to store the bikes on the back.
YEAH BOYZ THE CAMPER VIDEO IS FINALLY THERE!!!
The wants are strong with this! *Drool*

Looks great, note your feet are way over the end of the bed???? My mate has similar pop up, can you really lie upstairs, I cannot and I'm 5.8
Super nice van Ben a guy your height 6’7 can sleep in wow I do wonder if VW will over a VW ID Buzz California Camper
Finally 🙂, great video and very nice van
good content bro! keep it up
Hey - amazing van. Building one myself. How have you run the water to connector point on the barn door? Is it through the electric grommet?
But what does it cost???
Great review and great van Ben but where's the toilet ? There's no way my wife would be happy with a bucket ! Serious question though, what is the normal method of dealing with the issue with this type of van ?
I have a T6 LWB and it has a cartridge loo, at the end of the van. Was the deal breaker for us also. The LWB have all the possibilities

Now that's a van I actually want! Amazing! Practical. But did it break the bank?
Too bad VW refuses to sell any transporters in the US for almost ten years or support the old ones! best campers ever...wish I could get a new one.
Cool one
How did you get up there again??
As always, less means more. Crump with everything not sure you would have the will to get all that hassle on or the day you tried, you've never gone back again, lol
Where do the bikes go when you're sleeping in the van?
The metal tyre slots to hold your rear wheel in, are they bespoke or of the shelf as need some for my bikes . Hope you answer
Does anyone know who did the conversion for Kardi Leasing / Ben?
finally !!!!
Cool
Hi What is the brand / where to get those rails to hold rear wheel.
only 2 bikes? 6 riders and their MTBs in a long-wheelbase renault trafic ;-)
But where do you put the bikes when you sleep? 🤔
In the van… he said he sleeps up on the roof bed?
how much is the fish?
That’s awesome Ben, can you charge the eBike up using the van?
Joli
Whats the price on a van like this 🥴
Around £40k
@@OnlyDans848 and the rest! (If we’re talking brand new)
£50k new conversion second hand van, £70k and up brand new, £40k all second hand
Then he vanished
If only 4wd, ugh
You can get a 4WD version!
Ok how about - if only in the USA and in CALIFORNIA specifically! Use the name to sell the dub but don't sell it in Cali, lol
@@fstopadventures Hahaha well that’s a different story!
We get 4wd Transporters, you get a nice sunny climate... 🤷🏼♂️😂
There’s no way your downhill bike fits in there! Pretty cool, though.
Transporters are shite. Get a Sprinter
