I cook this all the time because they are great for getting collegen into your diet. Only difference I use is I add bay leaves. And right before finishing, I add rice (uncooked) and pinto and black beans. Just a way to make a complete meal in a bowl with a big slice of homemade corn bread.

If you are black what do you think your slave ancestors ate. They took the worst cuts or parts of me at that was given to them and made something tasty from it. That's how we get some dishes we have. That how we got our black pudding and Souse which is one of our national dishes.

@@bonitaweekes4366 You are completely right, Ms Bonita. It is also what everyone ate who fought for money. If you didn't eat what was on the table, you went hungry. Some people, like Ms. Chris, know how to cook. I would eat and like anything she made. She is a gift.

Good Morning and Blessings to you Mrs. Chris! I don't believe what I'm looking at, I have been in the hospital since August 26th, I was discharged Saturday, I told my family, all I wanted was a big pot of pig feet and some greens and I also wanted a Bbq sandwich! You are so right, you have to have your hot sauce on hand, I also add a little apple cider vinegar to mine! Thank you for sharing an old fashioned dynamite delicious meal! Happy Happy Holidays to you and your Family!🙏🏻🤗

Chris, you need to come to Barbados and see what we do with them. One of our national dishes is Pudding and Souse, can be used anytime but mostly done on weekends, especially Saturdays. The pudding is grated sweet potatoes with herbs and spices, steamed and served with Souse. The older folk used to add pig's blood to the mixture and stuffed it in the intestines, called it black pudding, most people no longer use the blood or intestines, just steam the mixture, serve it with Souse and slices of Breadfruit. Our Souse is cooked pork, feet, ears included, you make a pickle of cucumbers, onions, lime juice, salt and parsley. The Pickle is poured over the meat. Other Islands make Souse but not the way we make ours, if you have you'll never do it the way you do yours again.

I'd like to make this in a instapot pressure cooker, do you know how long that I should cook it? Thankyou so much, I'm going to have a happy Hubby.😊😊😊😊 Can I cook butter beans in the same pot?😊

You should go compete on Chopped. When most competitors get things like pig ears and feet, they don't know how to act. You'd body that competition with your repertoire.
