Woodturning - Turning Thin Spindles

This woodturning video demonstrates how I turn long thin spindles using a modified live center and equal pressure on both sides while turning, sanding and applying finish.

This video couldn't have come at a better time for me. I'm turning handles for chrome coffee scoops. Your technique is excellent. I especially like the tailstock cup insert tip. I'm drilling into one end of each spindle to press fit a brass insert to receive the scoop. So far I've been using too much tailstock pressure and using wood blanks that are not well dried. When I try to finish the end of the handle (at the tailstock) the blank wobbles like a buggy whip.

Thank you for sharing this. Well done. You start this video with a spindle that's already round. I need to start with a blank that's 3/4" square and 28" long. Any thoughts that might help?
