  • Thanks for checking this video out on my AJATT 10 Month Update Progress Report.
I wasn't expecting a lot to change between the 9 and 10 month mark but for the sake of documentation, there was quite a bit that happened this month, so while not a large amount of progress has happened, there are a few changes I've made
So again, just an update that's hopefully has value for some people.

Thanks a bunch for the end advice about listening to your level. I am probably the worst about doing that. I jump in to everything and it is too fast. I definitely need to pull it back.

I highly recommend The Bite size Japanese Podcast. This is the easiest podcast to understand. Her boyfriend is a foreigner and that's probably why she has mastered the simplified way of speaking, better than the teachers, in my opinion. However, it sounds natural and is very pleasant to listen to, which increases motivation.

I have just started my Japanese learning journey. I am not quite at AJATT level yet, since most of the input will be not comprehensible, but I'm only 1 1/2 months in my studies. Found your videos actually last night, and was surprised to see a new one today. Real interested in your journey!

Did you watch Delicious in Dungeon? That was the funniest thing I've seen in a while. I watch Pokemon. Because Pokemon is used easily English words for me. Keep at it!

Do you not write down the vocabulary on paper when you miss them on anki? Personally I remember vocab quicker and for a longer time doing this as opposed to not. So I'm curious if you have tried this and what your opinion on it is?

Never tried. I think the original AJATT was done in that way though. I will say that my retention went up using only easy and hard buttons though,, and my time spent reviewing went down.

How many hours a day do you spend on immersion and flashcards?
I've been learning Thai for a year, but started learning Japanese. In hindsight, I should've started sentence mining after 1500 common vocab flashcards instead of doing like 3-4k.

I did Tango N5 and N4 then started mining sentences from LingQ.com content.
I listen to podcasts around 5 hours a day meaning its playing and I go in and out of focusing on it.
Focused immersion about 2-3 hours a day before I get burned out usually via Anime at this point.
Flashcarrds around 1.5 hours on average, which I somewhat consider immersion as it's listening and reading as I use Migaku created flashcards.
I'd recommend not going overboard with pre-made decks. A lot of the language isn't inline with how people actually talk.
More details in my other milestone videos.
