    Thank you so much! Please make more tutorials on the Lutterworth system. I bought it years ago but didn’t get on with it. I got some large pieces of foam board after watching your first video on the golden rule, that makes so much sense! Your tips are really helpful and you’ve inspired me to have another go.

    I just bought this system. Drafting the patterns is so much fun. I really hope you continue to do videos about the lutterloh system as I need all the help I can get assembling the patterns. I've been sewing clothing for a while now and I still find some of the pieces a challenge especially those with zippers and vents. Your teaching style resonates with me as well as others I'm sure.

    I've had this system since the mid 90's. I love it. A rep from the company came by the Hancock's Fabric store I was working at and gave a demonstration. I don't have the ruler set though, I have been sewing for decades and just use my standard pattern drafting rulers from college. It is a great investment and I do love this product.

    This looks like a versatile system. And thank you, Laura, for explaining how to do the pleat in the back of the skirt. I'm guessing if I wanted a lined skirt, I would cut out the same in lining fabric, minus the facings. I like videos with garment construction. They are very useful to me.

    I've had a Lutterloh system for a few years now. I drew out a pattern I liked but, though I followed the instructions to the letter, I wasn't happy with the result. I haven't used it since but you have reawakened my interest. Thank you. The only downside for beginners is that there are no instructions for making the garment up. Not a problem for me though some guidelines for tricky bits would be welcome. It is assumed we know that bit which, of course, keeps the cost down.

    Thanks for sharing your Lutterloh system, Laura. I purchases my Golden Rule in 1989 when we lived in California. They traveled around to fabric stores and taught an afternoon class on using their system - they called the class the European School of Design. Of course, I purchased the system when they were finished teaching. :) I do have the top pattern. I like the way you made it sleeveless and I like the way you styled it. What supplement and number are the pants? I ADORE your pants. Pam

    • @patriciaa3462

      I have had this system for nearly twenty years. There is a plus size supplement for us curvy girls. Regular patterns have a dark symbol next to them to indicate which ones are more suitable for the curvaceous girls. But as the pattern is made to your measurements, most styles will fit you.

    Do you have to adjust the drafted pattern to accommodate a sway back? Do you need to shorten the pattern to accommodate your height? I just don't get how someone who is 5'10" but has a 42 bust and me 4'10" with a 42 bust could each get a pattern that would accommodate our height.

    • @rendmendecclesiastes3728
      @rendmendecclesiastes3728 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have seen others comment on Facebook that you will need to adjust this pattern just like a store bought pattern for those particular adjustments that you mentioned. Short or long waisted, full abdomen or derriere, length, etc. Overall, you will need to be well educated on pattern adjustments along with the order of sewing together a garment.

      One pattern back or front that you would either cut on the fold or cut 2 of, will be 1/4 of your waist measurement plus maybe 1/4 inch of ease, on a straight skirt like this. But to make it easy, you would draw the pattern like she demonstrated, and measure it at the waist. Multiply that by 4. Compare that to your waist measurement plus one inch (for ease, so it is comfortable). Then you will know how much the pattern needs to be modified for your waist. This would be true of commercial pattern pieces, too (which come with a few size lines so you might be able to use one size line for the waist and another size line for the hip then blend lines into each other). if it’s a small difference maybe making smaller darts would enlarge the waist enough for you, which would be easy to draw. And/or not curving the side seam as much. After you change things, make sure the side seams on the front and back pieces are the same. Make it out of muslin and try it on first, to see if it fits. These are ideas I use on blouses/tops to enlarge the waist areas, and just ideas that might work for a skirt… but I haven’t made skirts with darts for ages.
