    You are SO right about nursing school being all over the place. wow. I was shocked by how unprofessional our instructors carried themselves.. and some of them have such hostile vibes you wonder if they even like their job in the first place? Are they secretly hating on young, aspiring nurses? Would love to hear your take.
    You are a gem and have such a beautiful light about you, best of luck on your journey to becoming RN. I'll be right there along with you.

    I graduated lpn to Rn last December and I didn’t learn nothing new in the bridge program 🤷🏽‍♀️ I already knew about blood products and PICC lines as a lpn. I feel like it’s a scam to get ppl money 🤣I could just practice NCLEX style questions and get my RN. Now I’m a RN and I’m like really I wish LPNs could test for the NCLEX-RN and skip school.

      It is. Honestly, that's how most college programs are. A university is a business first and a school second. Why you think they got all these core courses they want you to complete.

    I can relate to feeling like the odd one out in nursing school because I’m 60. I’m hoping to go into long term care nursing home

    So I've been a LPN almost 5 mnths I work in a hospital and have no clue how nursing home is ran. I'm starting to take prerequisites for the RN bridge course. I thought about going to STLCC because I live close to one of thier campuses. until they told me they switch the campus they do the bridge at each yr. I'm debating on how many prerequisites to take at once. Should I try to get it over with or just go slow make sure I'm not overwhelmed. Because I rushed through with the LPN. Also took phyc and communication between culture before getting into LPN school because I though I was going to go straight for my RN then midway decided to switch and just do LPN 1st.

      I would say start with 2 classes and see how that goes then decide how you want to proceed. Start with a math and/ or science course because those take a while to get done because they usually are prereqs to other science and math courses. You can also sit down and plan how long it will take you depending on how many classes you take and a time. You also have to consider costs of courses and books and your budget when planning how many you will take in a semester.
      Good luck, keep me updated

    I hated nursing school and now I am in the RN to BSN program is worst with the busy work. When will we get a break they want us to have all this education for jobs that pay $20-30
    An hour.

    I wonder if they are saying “you’re already a nurse, you should know this” because you are still in the first semester so it’s mainly covering fundamentals or the basics of nursing. As you progress and get deeper in disease pathos, they should be giving y’all more details!
    Look forward to your videos along your journey☺️

      I wonder the same thing. Because once 3rd semester hits we will be with the ‘regular’ students who aren’t nurses yet.

    I’ve never worked in a nursing home, but I can definitely see where you would have to change your way of thinking. I purchased the Cathy Parks Level Up RN cards to study; I have seen great reviews about them. Hopefully they will be very helpful.

    I am cracking up over here. I will graduate from my BSN program in May. I am currently doing my preceptorship in the ED. Let me say this, You will still be talking to people the same way. My first lesson was DO NOT go in catering to patients. If you do they will have you running back and forth to the room. I sit and listen to call bells for 5-10 minutes sometimes. The nurses are very busy and some patients just want attention. I also learned that the purpose of the ED is to make sure the patient won't die today. That's it! Our hospitals have an OB ED, so they are not with the general ED population. Oh, and they rotate areas of the ED so you will end up with psych patients. I love it! Psych was my major before I decided to do nursing. Get ready for the ride!

    Typically, at least with Cerner charting, labs are orange if they’re high, blue if their low and red if they’re critical. And you can left click or hover for ranges. Labs get easier as you work, because you’ll be these labs everyday all day! You’ll be a great nurse!

    You have to take the Nclex again even though you are a nurse already?

    • @yourfavnurseb9699
      @yourfavnurseb9699  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I will take the RN NCLEX which is different from the LPN NCLEX. But if I were to go for a BSN or MSN I won’t have to take the nclex again

  • @astoldbymuriel103

    They told us the complete opposite. I was told to stop thinking like an LPN. We learned ALOT in my program. On top of all the papers I had to write ( not typical for an ADN program). But it prepared me for my BSN program

    Thank you for doing this video. I think it is very unfair for instructors to tell you they will not teach you a skill, because you are a nurse. We are paying for them to teach us. LPN's work in many different settings and this means that some people will know skills that others do not.

    My hospital is 2 to 4 patients max! I work on the Hematology/Oncology ward. Yes working in a hospital is totally different than Ltc! It's much better, more professional environment.

    Omg when you talk about nursing school being ghetto and so unorganized....I feel that in my bones! Currently dealing with that exact thing! I'm also in the OB rotation right now as well. Is your program accelerated? Mine is and it's been crazy between clinicals and theory.

    If you think you need an upgrade in professionalism from Long Term Care...I need a whole class in it after experiencing Psych 😭 cause wow...but I plan on staying in Psych but I wanna go into Acute Psych and be in a Psych Ward at a hospital 😍 so there’s also that

    You should have kept the title. It was intriguing and an attention grabber. People who are offended obviously didn’t bother watching the video or they would know that you are a practical nurse that knows the struggle.

    What’s the appropriate way to ask someone to see their private area?

    • @yourfavnurseb9699
      @yourfavnurseb9699  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s usually awkward but let them know what you are doing and just remain professional. So for example if you are doing a head to toe assessment and you need to see that area you just have to tell them that I need to examine your entire body. And of course if they are uncomfortable or refuse I would just document that and let the MD know or your supervisor know if you need to. But definitely document the refusal
