I have to work full time while I’m in school. I think the hardest part will be working with less money as a CNA while I’m in school. Nursing will be a second career for me. I will have to transition out of a 9-5 job when I finish the prerequisites and find a CNA job with benefits. I am no stranger to working 12-16 hour or more shifts but the pay will kill me because I will be paying for school out of pocket as well. So applying for scholarships and getting tuition reimbursement will be my best friends.
I'm in the same boat. I currently work 12-16hr shifts with good benefits...but plan on working as a CNA to support myself for my nursing journey. Right now I'm just crushing overtime to have some cushion before I leave. Good luck to you and remember you aren't alone.
This is me as well!! I’m about to leave my high paying job and become a CNA for the experience, while I attend nursing school. It’s going to be extremely hard because I will be making half the money and have the same bills!!! Any advice for this because I’m doing this no matter what to reach my second career goal of being a nurse. Love your videos!!!!
This is the exact situation I’m in. I already have a good paying job. I’m losing money doing this and increasing expenses but at least I’ll have financial aid and tuition reimbursement
I’m in my second term of PN school and I have no choice but to work full time: lack of support system. Watching this video gave me the affirmation I needed to get through the rest of the school year. Getting ready to pick up hours to make it full time. Planner done as well.
Hi FavNurseB!! First of all, you are STUNNINGLY BEAUTIFUL!! Have you ever considered modeling? Think about it Girl...make that change!! So I am in my 3rd wk of nursing school. I too was told that there was no way for me to work & attend nursing school. I gave the situation/concern/worry to God & he came through!! My school decided to create a 3 yr part time nursing program & I got accepted! BUT GOD!! Even though, for right now, it's only 1 day a wk, it's still MIGHTY CHALLENGING!! I also took on an online course as well. So I have a total of 3 classes, work 40 hours a week at a very busy doctor's office, and, I'm a wife of 16 years & we have a 14y/o daughter. So I have lots going on...lol. But, you know what? If you have enough determination, passion, & drive for something, you'll find a way to put all the pieces together. And for my 40+ ladies, I'll be 50 in August & no, NOTHING is stopping me from fulfilling my destiny. Thanks FavNurseB...love your insightful videos & your engaging personality! All great tips that I will try to implement.💜🤗
Lol yes when I was young. I wanted to go on America’s next top model. Ha. Good for you! Yay for 50! I turn 30 this year in July, we both have some big milestones coming up. Those 3 years will go by super fast! Congrats
I’m in your 40+ group too! I’m starting my nursing career change this fall as well. Married with 5 children and a full time job but I’m eager to start and complete this journey. With God nothing is impossible! 🙌🏼
I worked from 7am-330pm Monday through Friday and went to school Tuesday through Thursday 5:30pm to 8:30 pm. weekends it depends but a full 8 hrs Saturday and Sunday for clinical and sometimes depending on the site it could be for 12 hrs.
I planned on working but the school I’m going to advised against it due to them seeing a decline in students grades that worked, financially it’s a stretch but doable for now cause in the long run it will all pay off by God’s grace ☺️
REM REM my school was the same way. In fact when I was doing well in class I remember the secretary told me not to tell people that I was working full time because it would make them think that they could do the same thing and still be successful...I was like dang! They really wanted me to be hush hush about it. It was weird
I was determined plus I already took college level courses so I had a good idea on how to study and take tests. But overall I just worked hard and really wanted it. A person can be smart and lazy and not get anything accomplished, work ethic is key
YourFavNurseB this is very true, I’ll see how it all turns out after the first sent and once I get my daughter into a routine. I highly doubt I’d be able to mention it at all to the school lol cause they were serious about it too
Just started my second semester of my LPN program. I work full time as a tech in a hospital Thursday-Sat and go to school Mon-Thurs. I know this semester is going to be challenging because we go to clinical twice a week and have exams sometimes twice a week plus lab check offs. Its very overwhelming but I bought myself a happy planner and I'm starting meal prep.So im going to get my life together , I soo look up to my fav nurse b , thanks for the video like always this video was informative.
That saying no thing is gold. This has been so hard and I'm not even in school yet but I will be leaving a decent paying job to be a CNA..so I've been trying to save before I make the leap...not treating myself to pedicures not eating out cancelling gym membership and only working out home. But I hate my current job and want this bad so that later I can say yes!
🙌🙌 Yes, I needed this! I start nursing school in May and I've tryna figure out how ima work and go to school! You are the best!! Thanks for the tips!! ❤
Look, you're gonna be able to do it, if you got this far then u really want it. You'd be amazed at what our bodies endure when we kick into survival mode. You're gonna get through school with that degree, claim it boo!!
@@TXBRUXO thanks hun!! And you are right when you're determined to do something you can definitely push through and make things happen! I'm already claiming its DONE!!

Omg.This video is just for me. I'm in my last semester of pre reqs currently taking Micro and A&P 1/2. I have a husband and 5 kids. I work as a Pharmacy Tech full time and CNA part time. I have to work while in nursing school for the next two years. I feel like I can get through it after seeing your video. Thanks.

YourFavNurseB But I am talking about MYSELF not anybody else. You can make all the TIME for a class or work but if your are not actually doing WELL in the class then what is the point of organization. I know because I been through it b4😒. And it SUCKED. Sometimes organization goes WRONG!!!!
It’s my first time watching you and I like your tips because it seems doable and realistic, especially when it reminds me some things I did in undergrad. But what job did you have and what kind of hours did you work? In my case I’m going to need a loan for the program tuition, but rent is going to be the big reason why I need to work.

Thanks for sharing! I’m currently working full time as a CNA with twin daughters. Starting school in the fall to complete my prerequisites for an LPN program. Pray for me y’all! Any tips or advice?
How's school going?? I'm starting lpn classes in April 2023 and my tips she has mentioned in other videos that I already do is get car maintenance done asap, kids dr appts out the way, clean like deep cleaning home before school starts, and just planning like what our meals will be and how I will work. Bc I will have to work while in school maybe not full time but I gotta work plus I'm a single mom with 3 kids bills still gotta be paid. Hope classes are going well!

Look into accelerated BSN programs. I’ll do a vid about it but that’s the way to go
