    Classkick saved me last year when we taught virtual and traditional students simultaneously. I really appreciated the collaborative classroom culture it helped me maintain when students gave feedback on each other's work virtually (the way we'd been doing when we were all in the same room together). Since we are starting that version of class back again tomorrow, I am thankful to have it in my toolbox.

      I'm going to have to try out Classkick now after reading your comment. That collaboration culture is always challenging when working online and this sounds like it might be a great tool to check out!

      Yeah I love how fluidly it can move from independent work to collaborative. Most other apps it's one or the other.

    Thanks for the great App suggestions in this video! I love the first one because mindfulness is something I'm really focused on integrating more consistently into my courses.

    Interesting video. Thanks for taking the time to put these apps together. How do you compare Classdojo to Classcraft? Is Classdojo better perhaps for younger students?

    I think this was very informative, so thank you for this..I would like to know your thoughts on bulb vs. Wakelet when it comes to student portfolios?

    • @NewEdTechClassroom
      @NewEdTechClassroom  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Khalilah :) I haven't used Wakelet a ton but it seems to me to be more of a curation tool to be able to pull various media into one place (videos, tweets, articles, websites, etc); almost like a visual bookmarking tool. I know you can add text in between but even with that, it seems odd b/c everything has a 'like' button next to it and it just feels busier.
      For student portfolios, I like how each post on Bulb is more like a blog post to allow for more written reflection, but it makes embedding other media easier.

    I’ve used class craft 4 years ago. Kids were excited about it when they were creating their accounts - but - they figured out it was about behavior before we actually got to use it. It was a bad situation that year for the kids and there were a series of events that created a group of students that felt like the district was singling them out for their behaviors….needless to say, even classcraft wasn’t able to help that year.

    • @NewEdTechClassroom
      @NewEdTechClassroom  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dang, sorry to hear that Janet. I know it can be deflating when you get excited about something that could really engage your students and it doesn't end up working out that way.

    Great video mate. I'm starting to learn the importance of deep learning for my students. Specifically what evidence do I have about my students in order to push them forward or support them further.

    • @NewEdTechClassroom
      @NewEdTechClassroom  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah deep learning is a fascinating exploration for ourselves as lifelong learners and of course for our students.

    Yes Classkick! I liked it so much I paid for it and used it daily in my virtual classroom last year. My students loved the manipulatives and being able to use it as a dual interactive whiteboard while answering in the manner that they were most comfortable with. Being able to chat individually with each student about their work also helped to make students more comfortable in asking questions during class. I highly recommend!

    INVALUABLE! (Tom said abt Storycorps 6:54) INVALUABLE is Every video that Tmom and Sam churns out, they always manage to keep it real, they always manage to add a little something that stikes a vein, that simply says 'We're in it for the Love of it!' and to strike that chord, to make that humanely evocative conection with the audience, is what makes them so special, organic, human, , real... I personally am a procrastinator, but I make it a point to watch a or two video of Sam n Thom's before I really get into the grind, take notes, adapt, adopt and sometimes watch it over again, INVALUABLE!!! Don't ever change guys!
