Good timing ! I'm going to be making a huge rice bowl mixed with various Chinese sauces for dinner tonight, with a couple of egg rolls on the side. Still too sloppy to trudge through snowpiles to get to the grocery store. I'm staying in tonight and resting my muscles, sore from so much shoveling recently. Hope both you and your wife are safe and keeping warm.

Yes, u can also do this with grits. I use one fourth cup of grits to three fourth cup of water & cook on high for 2 min. Then i take it out & stir it & cook 2 more min. Add more water if it looks too dry after stiring. Just use common sense...add water when needed for consistency & cook longer at 30 min intervals till done. Add cheese , butter, & salt to your own liking, while hot!

Why did you use the dry ingredient measuring cup to measure your liquid? You had put water in the liquid measuring cup. Why didn’t you just measure the amount of water, in the liquid measuring cup, instead of measuring it out in the dry measuring cup? There’s a reason why there’s dry/solids and liquid measuring cups. At least I was taught this in home economics and by my grandmother.

    • @KenClick

With us daily rice eaters we use the same measuring device. For example in the Instant Pot I use whatever is available that will hold the rice. I use the same thing I used for the rice to measure the water (after I wash the rice, of course). It’s a 1:1 measurement. After 5 minutes and 10 minutes natural release - perfect rice.
