How to Cook Rice in the Microwave And Make It PERFECT EVERY TIME

  • This is my easy technique to cook rice in the microwave perfectly every time. No more mushy or dry rice. No more standing over the stove. No more burning the bottom of your rice. No more guessing whether you're doing it right. No more inconsistent results. This video will show you how to get it right every single time, and how to fix mistakes during the cooking process so your results are always consistent.
    DIRECTIONS:
    1. Always add water to about an inch above the rice
    2. If you're cooking 1-2 cups of rice start by microwaving it for 10 minutes
    3. If you're cooking 3-4 cups of rice start by microwaving it for 15 minutes
    4. Pull rice from the microwave and ADD 1/2 - 3/4 cup more water
    5. Stir with a fork to distribute moisture throughout the bowl.
    6. Microwave again for 5-6 minutes
    7. Add plastic wrap to the bowl of finished rice to steam

microwave is really versatile if you can cook rice in it! try adding in frozen veg and curry powder. avoid eggs in the microwave always as explosions can be debilitating.

I can cook literally anything except rice and this is how I’ve been cooking my rice for years. It works for me and no one can tell. Even my seasoned rice. I just season it before I put it in the microwave and wah-lah! Good, fluffy rice. Thanks for the plastic wrap tip.

You can just boil basmati rice in a huge pot of water then strain it. With basmati it turns out fine. Don't try with other rices, though.

Since my stove oven broke last year, I’ve realised you can cook literally make anything in a microwave. So far I’ve learned to make a cake, cook steak, eggs, potatoes, toast, grilled cheese, stew, noodles, pasta and now rice. The moment I learn to make fried chicken and pork chops in a microwave then my kitchen will be reduced to just a fridge and a microwave 😂

Hey, I just came up with an idea that would make it so I don't think you would have to stir in the microwave try putting a microwave safe plate over the top of the bowl. It is okay if it does not make a perfect seal. All rice cookers have lids with holes in them to let go of some of the steam in a controlled manner. I think this could help. The microwave process as well keeping some of the steam in during the cooking process, as far as timing goes, a rice kernel takes 20 minutes to soften so I don't think there's any way around that kind of like how pasta takes 7 minutes, but give it a try and see if it works. Make sure not to have a perfect seal or the rice can explode

It's the same rules still 20 minutes still in inch of water above the rice but you don't have to stir it. Maybe it's because you cook it with a lid on? I'm not sure. But microwaves are slightly more expensive to run than the rice cooker. Just an option

Enjoyed seeing how others do rice. You could just buy a microwave with auto sensor presets for rice, wash the rice first then add the water and rice to your bowl (2 parts rice to 3 parts water), with or without lid, select auto sensor until rice is selected then start. It will do moisture perfect rice everytime as it auto adjusts the power and time on the fly by detecting moisture levels and automatically stops when its perfect so there is no need to keep checking. Thats what the setting is there for on modern microwaves along with other presets for everything else. Always make sure your microwaves has the auto sensor function so it measures moisure from the food and adjusts accordingly. Dont get confused with the auto cook sensor on microwaves which is based on manual weight and time input, this is not as accurate, but make sure it has both functions when buying microwaves. Simples. Makes life easy and efficient. 😊

I wanna do this Bc I despise doing dishes and the rice sticks so bad to the pot 😞 is a bowl easier to clean after doing this ?

The less dishes the better and cooking it in the same bowl or maybe a bigger bowl, then I can make dessert rice or dinner rice what a wonderful way to cut down on dishes and speed up a dinner to bring to a needy family or new neighbors❤

I do it sometimes, but honestly it makes no difference in how the rice turns out so I don't do it every time.

    • @DanielleLaShawn
      @DanielleLaShawn  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

No, I cover it afterward to allow it to steam. Covering it in the microwave for that amount of time would probably make it boil over... That or melt the plastic.
