  • So i've known the model:cycles is good for Instant FM synthesis.
But with it's older brother the Digitone, i've always gotten distracted by everything else it could do! So i figuered why not try to only make synth sounds with it and ignore the drum machine side of it. -- Not bad!

Simplicity. I love how around 17:30 and again at 21:00 you really stumble onto something sweet.
I recently went to a bluegrass workshop and the leader achieved the sweetest moment when 20 or so people were just strumming a one-five boom-chick bass strum pattern.

Cool love the Compact Creations because I always know I'm getting some music whatever the machine. I think the word on drum machines is that no-one even comes close to the Drumbrute/Drumbrute Impact interfaces. With those two it's like someone finally but the logic cap one when designing the controls. That said you do get better sound from pricier machines like Vermona and Tanzbar.

I’m a new subscriber and really like the calm feel of your posts, the content is great and very informative. This vid was different and it was great to watch you widdle around for a bit, just as I do with hardware, searching for something......and then it came! The indicators were the nodding head, hands and arms came up, I bet the hairs on the back of your neck stood up, the smile (not seen that before) and the knowing feeling that you’ve NAILED a groove that can be build on or just left. Was great to see and I really appreciate the content. Cheers!

That was a great episode of compact creations. Could anybody write some experiences with these machines?
I am currently looking for a small "affordable" (whatever that word means to you) drum machine for my DAWless/Hybrid Setup. I am currently using the MPC One for all my Drums and Samples but I would love to have a dedicated Drum machine to get more immediate control over my Drum sound and limit myself in Sound choices. But I am currently stuck between those two boxes. I already own many Arturia Products (Minilab, Keylab 88 mkII, Minibrute 2S, Microfreak and the V-Collection) so I know the Workflow and the sound of their stuff. But the Elektron Model:Cycles also has some cool features to it. It is smaller, which is a big plus in my situation but it is also a bit more menu diving... I just can't decide xD.

Have you ever tried using a DSI tempest? If so what's your thoughts on it

I don't at all understand the popularity of the drumbrute, but you do good stuff with it.

The great irony behind hoarding gear is that no matter how much you have, you still won't sound any better than a guy who's really familiar with an old Roland Groovebox.

Exactly! Sometimes I’ll dig around and see what some of my favorite tracks were made on and it’s often the most random thing. And I’m just like “how in the world was that possible?!” - but it’s the time and mastery they put into their craft. We can all have the same gear. But what is exclusive is our effort and time we’re willing to put into our gear.

@@RickyTinez Roger Waters: "It's like, you give a man a Les Paul guitar and he becomes Eric Clapton, and of course that's not true. And if you give a man an amplifier and a synthesizer, he doesn't become, you know, whoever; he doesn't become us."

@@matthewlowe1120 Waters is a touch bland. I read Jimi was really amped on Syds guitar playing and felt they were peers in experimental guitar.

Ricky you are the best! Every time I'm thinking about my next set up ideas you seem to be one step ahead in the best possible way! I just purchased an Impact and the Cycle is next on my list! Thanks for the awesome video! One question, can the Impact be used with an external midi controller or synth in the same way that the Arturia Beatsteps can? So as to utilize the Drumbrute Impacts sequencer paired with synthesizers through a midi controller like the Arturia Minilab Mk2 I use Ableton Live 10 if that would make a difference?

Watching you play with the devices is super educational.
These camera angles are great too.
    Thanks man.
