Two cables offer redundancy. One cable pulls, the other pushes. The push is the safety cable if you will, to make sure the throttle returns to the off position. On race bikes, we only use the pull cable because we constantly maintain them with cable lube and maintain the throttle linkages. Hope this helps, Dave Moss Host
Our pleasure! Glad that you enjoyed the walk through. Imagine how long it would have taken with the Yosh superbikes from 2 years ago when money was no object! Dave Moss Host
i am just seeing this now and holy hell this is awesome and a great insight into what the heck is all that stuff on the bike. especially, a bike like matt's. thanks for this.
I have the '04 Mladin street replica, and I have to say this video is awesome. Inspiring ideas from things I never knew about. Also, I'm still a growing Mladin fan. The more I learn about his racing style and preferences
awsome i really anjoyd watching this vid, i really like how you explained in detail the bike, again thank you and please dont stop posting vids i have subscribed so i will be watching
We plan on doing a lot more in depth analysis not only of top flight race bikes, but also models that you can buy every day from the dealerships. We think that there is an audience out there looking for this information and from your comments, there's no doubt about it! Dave Moss Host
Those tanks are custom made and almost impossible to source (so contact Yoshimura directly). If you need a larger tank do what we did for the endurance race bike. Take 2 tanks, take the opposite 2/3rd's of each and have them welded together for significantly increased volume. It was a lot cheaper than a new tank.
Good question! I think it is to do with parts homologation perhaps and the costs involved to the manufacturers? I'll contact the great guys at Tech Spec USA.
Hey Mr Moss....How are you?.....Do you attend all of the AMA Superbike races for tech support to other riders? Will you attend the AMA races in New Jersey this Sept 2-4th 2011?
Hi Dave. I'm wondering what are the two canisters in the front of the bike where usually the headlights are? Is that engine coolant? Great vid overall!
@SportbikeWrench Thank You for replying....I must say I enjoy your videos, very easy to follow and understand. If you ever learn which dates you might attend in NJMP, let me know, I will try my best to attend.*
Great vid just watched it now even tho its two years old. Interesting how Matt uses the regular shift pattern, has he always done that? Anyway well done again!
So simple and effective! Today's superbikes are rolling computers with 200+ HP out the box. I am glad to hear Mat Mladin was acquitted of his ex-wife's allegations back in Australia. Sad situation but the good news is the truth is now out there.
@Kewlhurt I generally help privateers as teams have their own staff. I haven't been to many AMA events this year but am in the planning stages with 675.net for a track day at NJMP this Fall. Dave Moss Host
amazing, could you also please do another vid like this on all the race bikes, r6s, cbrs zx6rs all the other 1000s? i know the factories wont allow it but please try. ps, use force if u must
Hi Dave. i was wondering if you know where they got the tank or had it made? i ride a 2011 gsxr 750 and am needing a larger tank and am having a hard time finding anything.
full Ti system. The exhaust is built to engine specs, and street bikes never get to that level of engine build. In essence, they are a matched set. Not sure how much you would have to pay Yoshimura for the engine, electronics and pipe......

Now, an old bike, I’m just viewing this in 2023. I’d like to see a run through on on something more contemporary.
Thank you for the video!

we can try and get some bikes reviewed in the same way :)
GREAT STUFF! Thanks!
What is the point of a single throttle cable as opposed to the two you see on most other bikes?
Great vid! Fascinating facts ....
That would be the location for coolant overflow tanks just like cars.
After some searching I heard someone say that they might be built into the race suit? I have no idea if that's true though.

Awesome vid
Why don't pros use tank grips? Are they against the rules? Or are they for people with improper form?

Hmm, that's interesting! As a racer myself, that would be miserable to have something like that built into the suit.
Very neutered form of SBK, would almost call them Superstock. Glad they have started getting more exotic again in Moto America
Can i have it for Christmas?
That is a very mixed accent.
How Suzuki have fallen .....As a Suzuki fan it's very sad
