Fantastic shirt! Wow! 51? I thought you were in your mid 30's max! Great skin! My grandfather used to be an owner of a beauty salon and I grew up in 70/80's in his place with all those beautiful ladies having their treatments and hair done. I still remember the scents of cosmetics and chemicals and handmade soaps and shampoos. It was a really amazing place. My grandfather taught me about the natural way to care for my own hair and they were always beautiful and healthy until my health deteriorated about 16 years ago and ever since I struggle to have them in a good condition. I'm very happy to be able to find so much help for myself online and for me, you are like a private consultant, teacher and video content creator in one. Thank you for being you and being here!

Oh my goodness, thank you, so kind!
They sound like FANTASTIC memories, I love that you can recall the scents of the salon…and the glamorous women getting hair-do’s, so cool. It was going to the salon with my mother in the 80’s that made me determined to be a hairdresser.
Well, I’m thrilled I can help. Thanks for your wonderfully kind words. 👨🏻🙏🏻💗

We were taught, back in the day, that boar bristle mould the hair into shape, natural fibre against natural fibre, and metal will burn it into place. And then also use a denman to do a wrap blow dry, using the head to mould the hair. Admittedly I do use a combination of both. BUT we are a no hot tools salon. So a little styling with a metal brush over a straightener or tongs is ok with me.

    • @theworldofcraig
      @theworldofcraig  ปีที่แล้ว +1

We sure were….whilst I don’t use metal brushes, for all the reasons above, if people want to use them, that’s cool - I just want to let them know what could happen/help folks get better results.
Ooo, not hot tools, not sure I’d get along with that…but I only use tools with a thermostat.

Craig, I would love to see you do an honest video on Henna. I know its the bane of hairdressers, but Ive been using henna for 40 years on and off. I currently have about 40% grey. The hair has a mix of red, copper and dark brown. This is because I use a brand called Napur which mixes in amla together with 9 other herbs to dilute the flame orange effect on the white hairs. Amla tends to darken hair to more brownish tones. In between henna applications I use Casting or Natural Instincts demi permanent browns (1-6)without adverse effects up until now. I cant go lighter than a 6 with these products otherwize the demarcation line between henna and the light brown becomes apparent.
At times I've tried Black henna (pure Indigo) which although doesnt last as long as the henna, does gives an ashtone to the henna. To get a lighter strawberry blonde on the grey hair requires mixing henna with Cassia Obovata. If you use cassia on its own it gives a yellowish tint to grey hair which may be considered blonde.
I havent had much success going lighter with Cassia, or henna+Cassia, but there is a woman who did a YT video on maintaining her blond hair into her 60's with Cassia. Its a wonderful conditioning agent despite its trickiness with colour.
I would be very interested in your opinion/exploration of henna without demonizing it. I dont go to hair salons very often because of the prejudice towards it.
Although Henna limits enormously my hair palette, it does give the best most lustrous colour and shine out of any products Ive used. My original colour was a light chestnut brown, now with 30-40% grey. The messy application can be controlled with good organization. The Napur I mentioned has a slippery texture to it because of the added herbs which makes it easy to apply. One can also add conditioner to the mix, which may limit colour absorbtion but it helps in the rinsing off.
    Thanks Craig!
Ps. Between Casting and Natural Instincts, Ive found Casting to be a better choice. Initially I thought it was Casting's honey conditioner which is superior the Natural Instincts' conditioner, but Casting colour seems to last longer. Its also a couple of extra dollars more in price, here in Montreal, but its worth it. As mentioned, I use it on top of the henna without adverse effects.

Thanks for sharing your insight and hair history! I have nothing against henna, the backlash it gets is down to folks ignorance.
My only issue is that it’s very hard for any mix to be precise, as it’s naturally derived and therefore it’s often not as consistent as chemical based hair colour.
      Thanks for watching.

Hi Craig👋🏻 well… I’m loving this because I absolutely AGREE with all points made! I used the metal barrel. Rushes for probably ten years or more and recently been an absolute Covert to Tangle teezer round brushes, they do a medium and large and a paddle sadly for me the paddle just isn’t as large as I personally prefer however.. the round I LOVE.. it was actually a client that recommended to me😃.. Foil.. so after foiling for the last 38 years and sometimes felt like it’s taken me ten to do a full head with those fiddly little ones😬 am pleased to say I’m converted to the wider ones and also found of a “ pop up” 😜 the one with fancy patterns on that begin with F 😉 but oh yeahhh your spot on🙌 purple shampoo.. so after recommending the one beginning with O😉 to a regular guest that loves there other shampoo who’s a level 10… ended up looking like Terri Mackleberry from the simpsons😳🥹 so like you I’ve recommend using an empty bottle to mix half and half instead of dollops on head😃 I like you trained in the eighties and was a Wella salon and the bleach/ high lift was big as you say. I now use bleach with additives and completely agree it’s less damaging then the high lifters and again that’s just my thoughts also 🙌 so Craig that VERY SNAZZY new shirt of yours is a visual vision of beauty and looks fabulous on you 😍 I also love a Ys park comb but have not tried the brushes.. the Tangle Teezer are also a dream to clean. Must admit though boar bristle does give a lovely shine though so Craig a million thanks for this as Always and I’m sure all your lovely fans would probably agree with all your valid thoughts on these things .. so stay Fabulous you SNAZZARELLA FELLA 🤩😘X

I just used highlift last weekend as a highlight in foils on my sister as I ran out of lightener with 30vol and I actually loved it😍
I did micro fine slices though and mixed it to a slightly thicker consistency because highlift tends to bleed really easy and I did warn her it will come out warmer on her fine level 7 hair, but it blended in her regrowth very nicely! Surprise 😅

@@theworldofcraig I totally get that more often than not it will stay really brassy and the hair will be very fragile when wet especially on global applications and will not work well on anyone darker than a level 7. Hilarious!!
Yes to bristle brushes, other than on short full styles.
No to wide foils. I think your foiling technique determines which size you like.
Intense/ extra coverage- depends onthe hair. On resistamt white theyre great. But can look flat on regular.
I dislike plastic cutting combs; carbon all the way for me.
Plastic section clips- dislike. They arent strong and dont grip.
Need scales to weigh colour, fact!
Dripping wet hair- towel dry propertly please!!
