Fun fact: The reason all of the voice acting in this game is rather stunted is because all of the VAs were given their lines in order, completely devoid of context or location. So a lot of them simply had to guess what was going on and make up their own inflections. There are a few exceptions to this, very noticeably Patrick Stewart who played Emperor Uriel Septim, who was also given a massive lore packet on top of his script to let him know what's going on in the canon. He has said that he loved it and it was one of his favorite roles despite being so short.
Y'know, you gotta hand it to them. Their AI was batshit insane, so they made a DLC about an island where everyone's batshit insane so you can't tell if it's on purpose or not anymore. Have to applaud that kind of creative thinking.
Quick lore drop about Jyggalag/sheogorath. The other daedric princes were pretty much scared (or just tired of him) and cursed him so he was less powerful as Sheogorath. He becomes Jyggalag every so often, destroys his realm and turns back to our favorite mad prince.
I never realized just the sheer stubbornness I exhibited when playing this game. Without fail I’d do the Arena until I was the grand champion. Difficulty spikes be damned, id claw my way to that final round before ever leaving the city. So seeing someone become Guildmaster of the thieves guild before Grand Champion is crazy to me, or shows me how crazy I am. Lol😂
22:20 you gotta maximize your level ups to keep the difficulty balanced. If you don’t get +5 for each stat you level up the enemies will out scale you.
It feels wierd to me that there arent any achievments for the entire (albeit optional) "close all the oblivion gates outside the cities" part of the main quest.
@@aelinalice9194 yeah iirc you only needed to clear the bruma gate to be able to trigger the fight for the big gate. But for each other gate cleared you got more troops for the fight before the big one spawned
@@aelinalice9194 i didnt know it was optional i always mustered troops to defend bruma from the deadra hordes, in my roleplay mere mortals are too weak to handle any deadra.
Doing the thieves guild early on is a big mistake, Oblivion scaling is based on total skill levels and doing the entire Thieves Guild questline will give you fat stacks in athletics and acrobatics and sneak - which won't help you kill anything. By the time you're done every enemy on the overworld is a minotaur and your game is near-bricked.
So funny story which I'm gonna guess Jazzy knows: That Argonian is the master stealth trainer, and due to the kinda crazy for the time AI of Oblivion he steals food from somewhere in town eventually and get killed by the guards. This isn't a scripted event the AI just causes this to happen.
Akatosh, the dragon god who gifted Saint Alessia (I think that was her name?) the Amulet of Kings. He is the head of the Aedric pantheon worshipped across Cyrodil, opposed to th Daedric Princes. Also, it's not a ruby, but the crystallized blood of Akathos tmsrrving as the gem in the center of the amulet.
Another great vid! It's always special going back to an old game that started your love of completion, it's what happened with me when they released Spyro Reignited. Keep up the awesome work and I'll see you in the streams.
This was one of my favorite games growing up on the 360, and it was my first 100%ed game on my series X. It was a nice trip down memory lane lagging out my game with dupes of powerful rings and shields that I could sell to merchants, or getting Shimmerstrike and the Grey Aegis illegally by using the Worm Kings Staff to make a copy of Arena combatants. If I could forget it and do it all again, I would in a heartbeat.
You know out of the big three ES games, I may say I hate Oblivion for its bugs which killed every save I had…. I can’t stop thinking about it! For a Thief-Player, it’s a freaking paradise!
TheSonOfJazzy, would you consider Vampyr to be put on the itinerary? 28 achievements, game set during late 1910s London, play as a newborn vampire whom is a doctor in life and part of the stick for getting the good ending is doing a bit of detective work on people to influence the in game events. It sounds like something up your alley to me.
I liked Vampyr, but the lack of save/reload system is a strange decision. The game is linear and while there is a lot of content in the side quests it is bogged down by you only receiving a reward by completing it in one specific way, you are actively punished for exploring dialogue options. I get that it was just used as a marketing gimmick to boost sales, but it left a sour taste in my mouth (worsened by quest-breaking bugs) as it actively encourages players to interact less with the story as evidenced by the lack of information on the few alternate endings to storylines online and the many fans who outright state they couldn’t care less about the side-stories.
I went back to oblivion a few months ago after playing the life out of it when I was a kid and early teenager. Felt like the game was kicking my ass on the standard difficulty this time around lol even though I remember most of the game
Must...resist...urge...to drop...paragraphs...of Elder Scrolls lore... Also, no achievements for Knights of the Nine? Or did he leave it out on purpose?
I would be happy if you made The Sinking City achievements grind, the world of Lovecraft is in Dark Souls and Bloodborne, but The Sinking City seems to me to have some note of what I was missing
Is was the second game I got every achievement for I couldn't wait to get it after I got every achievement in skyrim and it took me 9 days of casual play on my first run through and it was probably one of the better weeks of the year. Then it took ages for me to get the goty edition for shivering Isles and that took a solid 8 hours straight.
I'm surprised there's no achievement for doing the Grey Prince part of the Arena through... alternative means. I guess Bethesda had zero inspiration involved in the inspiration department.
the difficulty scaling is so atrocious. Thankfully there are mods to fix it now, but back in the day on xbox i was genuinely pissed off when I fought my first troll or minotaur
The Mage Guild quests were so stupid in Oblivion... you can become the Guildmaster without casting a single spell. Tedious fetch quests for the most part, and a couple of kill quests... certainly proves your magical prowess, eh?
I had wanted to get 100% in oblivion but I forgot what it was that stopped me from doing so. but I do gotta wonder, Oblivion is your first "100% achivment" game, but was it your first 100% game in general? like for me I believe it was Either brave fencer musashi (ps1) or Jack and daxter (ps2) that were my very first 100% games, am curious if this was your first or if you had 100% something pre-cheevo days.
It seems like such a small thing, but if your playing a betheda game post morrowind and not modding it, just use a controller, the clunkiness of the games become negligible
It's a such nostalgia because some years ago I played the game for the first time and it's good and I have a suggestions for next videos ,,Agatha Christie Murder On The Orient Express " and the ace attorney games witch are cool detective games
Oblivion is the supperior Elder Scrolls simply because of how good it was and still is COMPLETELY VANILLA! Skyrim is best in terms of Mods and Modding Support still however, and that wont change anytime soon.
