Beautiful instrument! Beautiful version of St. Anne's!
Once again, a good day when there's mandocello be heard.
Please do tabs, you could sell them like Rob MacKillop!!

@@rossclay3317 thanks so much for you comment! Check out my others videos whenever you need your Mandocello fix 👍
Old gibson instruments just come alive in your hands. There's a 28' f2 at my local guitar shop that i drool at every time I go in there lol
@@oldtimetinfoilhatwearer old gibsons are pretty special! I suggest you go buy that F2 if it’s speaking to you 👍
Another video of great playing! I'm curious what the scale length on your Gibson is. Mandocellos seem to come in a fairly wide range of scale lengths.
Thanks mate! Both my Mandocello’s are standard Gibson Mandocello scale length of 24.74”
They feel very different when compared to each other even though the scale length is the same. This is because the neck angle is a little steeper on the f-holed version as opposed to the oval hole.
@@lukewilliamwright Thanks a lot for the info. I'm currently building my first mandocello and one of the specs I had to decide on was scale length. I've seen them run all the way from 24" to 27". Some builders go with 27" for the higher tension that they feel helps with the bass response. I think a 27" scale would be hard to play, at least for me, because of the long stretches so I've settled on a 25" scale as a first shot. That classic Gibson scale looks like it works just fine for you as far as playability goes and the instrument sounds really good including the bass notes so I think the 25" scale should work out. Looking forward to more of your videos.
@@django02 post a video when it’s done ✅
Her Holiness, St. Anne, would be reel pleased to hear that tune!
great pun, my friend!
You are quite the virtuoso!
I read in the comments that you own three mandocellos, what are are they? I’d love to hear, and maybe a little about each of them if you have the time.
Which one did you use on the Bach Prelude? Your performance on that piece is absolutely outstanding! It seems to be very similar to the same tempo that Rostropovich played it. Your performance is the best I’ve ever heard anyone play it on the mandocello. I’d love to hear you play some more of Bach’s cello suites.
Thank you for your videos, you’re a huge inspiration to me to keep grinding away at my mandocellos. I have an Eastman and a Thoman, I love them both. The scale length on the Eastman is a little easier for me.
Thanks so much for your lovely words and I am so glad that you are enjoying what I do! My 3 Mandocellos are my Duff K2, Gibson K2 and a bowl-back from Sicily made by Alfredo Privitera.
I used the Duff on the Bach video and I’m definitely going to post more Bach soon,
Thanks again for you comment and keep listening and sharing 🙏
And I love the Rastropovich comparison! He’s a huge influence for how I approach the Suites, you have a good ear sir!
❤❤❤
Beautiful tune on a wonderful instrument by an expert player
Moar Mandocello!!
What beautiful sound -- one of the first tunes I learned so long ago and you make it fresh. The restoration is magnificent (as would be expected from Mr. Duff his ownself).
awesome!
Lovely
Well that was amazing. Great flow, grace notes, vibrato on such a deep and difficult instrument. You're playing is fit for a queen and better than the ax!
Thank you sir! 😊
