Since Drew Carey became the host in 2007, ones and sixes were automatic winners. Contestants no longer had to say higher or lower for those numbers.

I think they do that to speed up the show, which sucks, cause during the Barker Era on Pluto, those shows are about 45-47 min long, the later it goes into the 2000s the shows are shorter. Carey's shows are about 39 1/2 min WITHOUT commercials.

Exactly. The shows now are so rushed due to all the commercials which you can really see by the end of Bob's run, as he is just constantly getting people to go faster.

There is no commercial between the first and second pricing game.

In one of the foreign adoptions of The Price is Right --- El Precio Justo over on Spain --- They have a game like Dice Game. The only difference was they played with a wheel with numbers 0 to 9 and the contestant had to determine the first four digits (which can be any of all ten digits) of the 7-digit price of the car in pesetas.

3:35 he lost by $132, NOT $32. Price was $26,368. That is 132 under 26,500. Bob sorta corrected himself in that clip anyway, but he did make a point with "not much".

      @markscapino  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

That's some real attention to detail you have. At least Bob sort of corrected himself. Sort of.

This recap was to "die" for. On a related note, I write this on Sept 4th 2022, exactly 50 years ago TODAY when Price first debuted on CBS!

Thanks for including your AMAZING SENSE OF HUMOUR! I JUST LOVE IT!
Ok, I’m going to be honest with you, your puns were a little bit “dicey,” but you took a chance, and your bet paid off! Well done!

Side note on Fun Fact #3: High Rollers lasted from 1974-1976 and from 1978-1980, Wink Martindale added the table and dice from High Rollers to Las Vegas Gambit in 1981 and rebranded the, "Big Numbers" to "Gambit Galaxy." High Rollers 1987 revival only lasted one season, plus the, "Big Numbers" were revived on the 1987 version.

Honorable Mention- Dice Game is one of several pricing games that is featured on the Let's Make A Deal/Price Is Right Mashup and has been featured on "Let's Make A Deal" on several occasions.

Dice 🎲 Game has been using the same set since December 1989, which still looks pretty good with the Drew era set. Only once in the game’s history has the contestant rolled the exact number for each digit in the price of the car, it happened in 1996.

I loved that moment & still remember that one well. They should've mentioned that in the video, which I am surprised they did not.

The white line also dates back to Las Vegas where Craps players are required to throw the dice past the halfway point to be a 'legal' roll

In regards to #3, given the choice between having the dice lady rolling the dice and having the contestants rolling the dice themselves, I would have the contestants rolling the dice themselves.

They actually changed it in the 2nd Trebek version and carried forward to the Martindale version so that the contestants get to roll the dice

Depending on the version of the first wave, both Ruta Lee (daytime) and Elaine Stewart (nighttime) were the High Rollers dice ladies.

I think Bob Barker should have been in that movie with Aaron so Aaron could point the gun at him and say, "Give me my prizes from the Showcase, Old Man!!"

The 1990s reboot set featured various sized dice decors all around!

They forgot one; a 1996 episode were a contestant rolled all 4 numbers correctly without saying higher or lower. A maintience worker worker named Walter won a Mercury Tracer & rolled each of the #'s correctly, without having to say higher or lower!!

Fun fact - if there is a 3 or a 4 in the price and the contestant plays by the odds, they will always get these digits correct.

Only once it has a perfect dice game by guess the number of the die without a mistake or roll the incorrect number. 1996 was that time. 0,7, 8 and 9 is the original rules of Dice Game, do to confusion and hard to win, the numbers 0,7,8, and 9 is no more since.

Well here’s an easy strategy just roll a 6 or 1 and ull be fine don’t get the mid numbers

There are no numbers higher than 6 and no zeros in the price of the car

If I was the host, I would bring back the possibility of those digits, as well as not bothering with the lights (as in this video: th-cam.com/video/gepaTdZCk7o/w-d-xo.html).
