I grew up having this exact gravy on my dressings, we also ate it on biscuits and actually poured it on cornbread to eat for breakfast. The art of “Old School” from the heart is dying out in our world, kids today have NO idea how to actually cook, to busy with their phones and TV. I am 60 years old, haven’t eaten at my mothers table in (1) one year due to this COVID mess. It’s Thanksgiving morning, been up since 05:00 cooking in the kitchen for my little family to have a good “Old School” dinner. God Bless you Sir, may you have a wonderful day, enjoy life and please, please be safe. I keep people alive for a living, something I have been doing for 30+ years now, this bug is violent, Lord what my eyes have seen this year. May you and all of your Family be blessed in many ways, thank you.

I grew up eating giblet gravy but I have never been able to reproduce the taste of my mother's. Hats off to you sir...I used your recipe on Christmas day and I swear I thought I was eating my mom's gravy. Thank you very much.

No one ever taught me how to make giblet gravy. I love to cook and experiment in the kitchen, so I did what I thought would make it taste like it should. I knew what it was supposed to lookand taste like, and figured out the ingredients from there. I've been making it my own way for a decade, and I came here just to see if I was doing it "right." Glad to see we make ours similar. Except I cut my giblets up before I cook it because that cuts down on the time it takes to get the meat tender.

Oh my gosh, I just saw this, I'm so happy you posted this! It reminds me of my grandfather, he always made giblet gravy for Thanksgiving. I was too young then to know how he did it, when he passed the Thanksgiving torch and only 3 of us were left that ate it the gravy went by the wayside. My mom had told me no one but my dad, Nanny and her sister & husband, and myself liked it, maybe mom did too bcuz it was her dad that made it and I'm sure that's what she ate all her years growing up. I may even have to cook up a small batch just for myself lol. My brother and sister won't eat it, and I'm sure my niece and her two kids wouldn't. Thank you for bringing back some very fond family memories! Edit: OK, so that's the kind of gravy they served in elementary school on turkey and cornbread dressing (which I didn't grow up on) days; one of my favorite lunches! Poppy was French-Canadian, so his giblet gravy was different than this. For 50 + years I've never known anyone that made giblet gravy like the school did lol. Thanks again!
