      Thank you! Yes, from normal viewing angles, you really don't see any cables. I have been adding more mods since this video, so there is more gear, and more cables, but I've done my best to keep the added cables hidden and everything clean. I'll have to do an update video since I've added wind simulation, bass shakers, rumble motors, and a gutted PS4 controller that I use as a headset interface on the PC.

    • @DigitalRelay
      @DigitalRelay  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yep. I reasoned that the holes are pretty much out of sight unless you are looking for them, and I spent a good amount of time filing to make sure they wouldn't damage cables. If I were a more patient man, grommets would have been good.

  • @DigitalRelay
    @DigitalRelay  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Someone in a reddit thread asked about structural integrity, so I'll paste my response here: I did some research on this before I started drilling. The wheel base isn't an issue, as it comes with a bunch of holes in it anyway. The tube piece that holds the frame sections together directly under the wheel base is thick aluminum and I didn't feel a 9/16" would affect its integrity. I also figured, worst case, I have to replace that piece. At the bottom of the frame, I made sure to drill on a straight section, and I went right where a bracket is welded thinking that would support it well. I really don't think the holes will lead to any problems. Roll bars and cages are often drilled for various reasons, such as drain holes in the bottom to let water out. It's a great point to bring up though. There is definitely no perceptible flex after drilling the holes.

    • @DigitalRelay
      @DigitalRelay  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thank you so much!! The DD Pro is a massive upgrade from the G29. I still have my G29 at my girlfriend's house, so I go back and forth on the rigs occasionally. The difference is night and day. I can still drive on the G29 rig, but it takes a little while to adjust to it, and if I happen to start to slide, it's super difficult to save it on the G29. DD feels really natural to save those moments.

    • @ItsJustCarl1983

    only thing i would do is allow for a bigger loop at the cable bend points to allow for less wear and tear, and maybe get a USB extender cable or USB hub to cover the extra distance but other than that this is an amazing idea, i might try this

    • @DigitalRelay
      @DigitalRelay  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      All 3 cables had plenty of length to do a longer, wider bend, but I felt this was more than enough for stain relief and it looked as clean as possible. No need for USB extension as there is more than enough of a tail at the bottom to easily reach the PS5.

    Looks great!!! Strange Playseat did not came with a solution to have the cables going thru the tube! How long do you have your seat now? I am thinking to buy one, but see some tear on the headrest and beside the headrest? Or is it just a light thing? I am looking for a good move around solution, as I have to take it from one room to the living room, and looking how to put some wheels on the Pedal plate area, so I can tilt it up and move around and put it tilt up in another room, due to space issue

    • @DigitalRelay
      @DigitalRelay  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’ve not had tearing issues, but some areas wearing lighter. I bought it used about six months ago and love it. I thought about doing wheel too, but dragging on my floor works pretty well, and I don’t love it room to room often. If I really need to, I can hang it on bike hooks in a laundry room, but that’s pretty rare.

      Running USB, CAT5 and power together does risk electro magnetic interference, but I reasoned on such a short run, and with magnetic filters on the end of the USB cable I would be okay. In my case, it works with no problems. It is a valid point to consider though. Also, all those cables were running together in the first place with no problem. All I did was put them all inside an aluminum tube, so there shouldn't be much of a difference. I'm no electrical engineer though.
