I love the mindset that exploratory time is not wasted time! I recently interviewed for a job that I did not get, but I’m proud of myself for putting myself out there and seeing what new work environments are possible. The relentless productivity grind that demands you always have a “positive” Result and Data at the end of an experience in order for it to be worthwhile takes soooo much fun and play out of the experiences we otherwise love.
I love seeing how you navigate this new and unknown phase. It’s so reassuring, and it helps to see what doesn’t work and how that’s so important to figure out.
Regarding Coursera: Something that you can do (and that I did with two other Google certificates) is auditing the courses for free. You can read and watch all of the material absolutely free of charge, the only thing you can't do is the final assignments/quizzes. I went through the courses in my own time, and when I was finished I took the 7 day free trial and submitted the assignments and did the quizzes, and voila, certificate done, lol. Doing the courses also definitely did not take me as long as they say, I finished the whole thing in a few weeks max. I did find the courses really informative and well done, but you're definitely right when you say that you already have a lot of the skills anyway - that's way more important than some certificate! 💖
Hey Hannah! I'm a project manager for UK Gov and I got the APM project management qualification. They do it in a week intensive course online with an exam at the end. Alternatively PRINCE2 is another internationally recognised PM qualification where courses are run in the UK. So there are plenty of options you could go for if you want that certificate at some point!
i feel like PRINCE2 is more international project management with a focus on grant sponsored projects. I used to work for the UN and they used the PRINCE language a lot. I'd rather recommend PMI to APM especially for someone who already comes with Project Management experience like Hannah =) But both are great in my opinion.

Hannnnaahhhhh! I just want to echo what I've seen from other comments about how affirming it is to see you in this figuring-it-out phase. I started a business as a freelance Virtual Assistant two years ago and had NO idea what I was doing... and then last year a lot of my time was spent trying to figure out how to narrow down my services into something more specific (I decided to become an Online Business Manager, which is heavy on the organization and project management -- go figure, considering this has been one of my favorite YT channels since you started it years ago bahaha), but that unknown phase of trying to figure out what elicits that "buzzing" feeling you described about 5 mins in was so full of analysis paralysis and "am I making the right choice?!" panic.... so I just want to say that you're so not alone in that liminal space and I appreciate you sharing it! Excited to see all that this next career phase holds for you
@@morehannah On a short term basis it's helping streamline a business's operations (setting up automations, standard operating procedures, sales funnels, etc.) and then in the long-term it's project management, running launches, working on strategy with the CEO, being a filter between the CEO and the rest of the team to help delegation, etc.!

About the Google coursera courses... I completed the digital marketing course and I absolutely did not take the time they suggested. I completed the quizzes in 10 minutes max and the time they recommend for reading is too much. I was able to complete each "week" in one morning
I've done Google's Project Management course and the whole first part of this video I was thinking "I don't think this will be helpful to Hannah" - it's very corporate focused and has fewer takeaways for social media/media work. So I was very glad when I saw you put it to the side :)
For whatever it’s worth, I’m currently taking that coursera course, and their time estimates are wayyyy generous. The 50 minute end-of-module assignments (which are basically 10 question quizzes) take me 10 minutes. The “20 minute” readings take 10, including taking some notes. I watch the videos at double speed (but then pause occasionally to take notes). I’m up to module 3 of the second course in the series, and so far everything on average takes less than half of their estimated time. Obviously still totally legit if it’s not the right thing for you right now (or ever), but thought I’d mention about the time estimates in case it’s helpful to you or anyone else who might read this comment.
about the project management courses: they mostly qualify you to work with one specific software and thus "management style". most of these are globally used to manage large teams in conventional entreprise contexts and are, in my opinion, much less universal, transferable skills than what "project management" as a skill sounds like at first. for smaller teams/coworking or other settings than corporate business, I find it more viable to develop own structures and systems (which you evidently are an expert in already hehe 😊)

fyi quickest way to get a project management certificate is to do a PMI foundations course, they do like week long intense courses, might be more expensive than Coursera but at least its only a one time fee, and then you do one or two exams depending on what level you chose :)

I've been a project manager for years, and honestly the PM certificates and degrees are complete BS. Unless you were trying to get a job with a tech company, where they might ask for those certifications, they really won't matter nearly as much as actual demonstrable experience managing projects similar to the ones you're offering services to manage. Even for those jobs, they often ask for PM certifications OR X years experience. Genuinely, having the lived experience with actual day-to-day project management is way way more useful for you and impactful for whoever you're working fo.
I think you can audit Coursera courses for free, so you don't get feedback on your tasks and you don't get a certificate, but you can watch the contents. If that's an option on that pm course, that could be more like what you are looking for :)

Might be interesting to consider: you have developed strategies and tools that were helpful and fitted specifically to you and how your brain works, how will you help people learn to work in a way that is helpful to them personally? (Instead of teaching what you learned that works for you)

Just find some good youtube videos about them =) That alone would give you a better concept of Project Management in a way that wouldn't be a waste of time, but more a helpful info =)

Apm is definitely the best cert.my company was looking at others but APM is just more consistent with their accreditation.
