Whenever I watch content creators set goals, I really have to remind myself that this is their job. I could never achieve this much, but that's because about 10 hours of my day are occupied by working for someone else.
This! As a neurodivergent person that gets anxiety and depression, I remind myself how much that impacts me too! I will not be doing anywhere near this amount of goals, but in am in awe of Lucy's brain! We're all different
If you haven't read it, Stolen Focus by Johann Hari is amazing at exploring our addiction to our phones/ social media. Would recommend if you want to change your relationship with your phone ☺️ Cal Newport's book is also good.
just sprinkling in that sometimes trying to break soothing habits when going through a very stressful time is a lot more difficult than waiting before things quiet down a bit more to attempt changes that are discomfort-creators, it can either help to assert self-control there and then or create self-harshness to do it on-top of things i think? it's a different types of people thing though i imagine
As someone in their mid thirties, I can assure you there is plenty of opportunity to adapt, develop, and change, and it happens whether you like it or not! 😂 God help us all if we were trapped in our 20s habits. Good luck with 2024, I look forward to watching you boss it. 😊
I actually deleted all my podcast apps the other day. I came to feel like I was filling every minute of the day with some form of learning or processing of information. 8 hours of work, plus maybe 1-2 hours of podcast, and an hour of TH-cam, that's too much! I needed time to have my own thoughts, get bored, and pick up a book. I think it's overstimulating, even though I love learning, and the podcasts feel like learning, but I think picking up a hobby, reading deeply on a subject from a book, or craft or new sport is really where you get the sense of building something new!
I feel you so much! It’s sooo easy to fill every free minute. I feel more human when I get to be bored, be curious and playful, touch some frigging grass or get lost in a book
I cut out social media in 2022, and the itch I felt those first few weeks were a brutal awakening and made me even more determined to stick to it. I didn't even think about 'coming back' to it in 2023 or this year. I can now happily say it has opened so much space for other interests and creative pursuits. It's the best I have felt in a long time. If you're reading this and have been thinking about it, just try it out for a month first. Don't deny yourself the opportunity if the desire is already there.
Love the 12 week system - been using it for 2 years now and it's so helpful! For anyone that isn't a content creator, I found it really helpful to include a work goal as one of your 3 goals - because it is a huge part of your life and if you (hopefully) like your job, it's worth investing time into. Currently my work goal is better focus during the day to make sure I'm working 9-5 only. Doesn't always happen but hey ho! Also, I try not to set any goal beyond the three months because realistically, you can't be sure what will be important to you in 6, 9, 12 months time. But 3 months is a short and long enough span to plan for.
We are around the same age and one of my top yearly goals is also to learn how to drive. In my case it's to be more independent and to confront my anxiety about cars and the road. Here's to us getting our permits
Just got made redundant a week ago, a week after I turned 28, and honestly, the past year has been the biggest shift of my life 😂 Never had so many big life challenges thrown my way and idk man, at first it felt like things would never stabilise, but my main focus when shit first hit the fan last February was to be consistent in making sure my main goal in life was to focus on maximising the love I put out in the world, and appreciating the love that I receive. It's made me stronger than I thought I could be, even in some really difficult situations that followed. Hope your dad's recovery (and you/your family's from the trauma - people forget that sometimes!) goes as smoothly as possible 💗
I am with you 100% on the light vs deep media consumption and that TV counts as a healthier way to consume. It’s just way less addictive and entrapping! And easier for it to be done in a group! 😊
I totally know what you mean about phone scrolling vs tv or youtube. Even though sometimes my phone is super fun, I also can physically, mentally, and emotionally feel the negative sludge when Ive been scrolling all day. In fact, my husband literally just told me to put TH-cam on the tv so I will get off my phone and save the rest of my Friday night. ❤❤
I think being transparent about the goals I am setting for the year is a great accountability for me personally! Like sharing them with a trusted friend or partner who can cheer you on or check in with you throughout the year is what I appreciate. But hearing about the 12 week planner was so insightful on how to process your goals into realistic and practical habits. Thanks for your videos! Always feels so calming and like a chat!
Phone addiction: the book How to do Nothing by Jenny Odell really helped me to think about where I was spending my time and rest from my phone is important.
Have you thought of one of your revenue streams being a podcast? I like hearing you dive deeper into certain topics and I think you would be a great host. I would really enjoy listening to something like that.
I’ve wanted to start a podcast for a few years but I haven’t managed to find a strong concept! I didn’t want to just start something that doesn’t have a differentiator. If that changes though I’ll be there with bells on!
loved this video!! i found your approach so realistic yet ambitious if that makes sense?? the goals seem achievable and i found it so inspiring that you were so open with your goals 💖 hope your father is doing well also!!
Lucy, I adored this video. It’s incredibly inspiring to see you taking your intellect seriously, because wow, social media brain rot is real! I often feel self-indulgent taking my intellectual development seriously. But it’s not frivolous for humans to imagine more than work->insta->sleep->work! Although unfortunately it’s a privilege, I know. Long story short, thank you for being there & here’s to thinking deeper and getting that screen time down in 2024!
the financial instability in 2023 was insane. it bled into every aspect of my life and was so incredibly draining and overwhelming. it was hard to do anything! thankfully, january has been seemingly more stable but wow has it made me paranoid about spending. my partner and i have a more solid spending budget/tracker now but jesus… good riddance 2023
I relate to the video so much, especially your part about "Boss" being your word for the year but not feeling like you. I'm a Ravenclaw and a Virgo, so I put a lot of pressure on myself to achieve. I'm also turning 30 this year so I feel like this has added to that! I think this idea of splitting things into chunks is very helpful to mentally cope with the work load. Also reminds me of the 12 wishes that those from a Hispanic culture do on New Year's Eve. I wishing you luck on achieving your goals Lucy! You have always been a pleasure to watch and learn from 😊
The song on one of your recent tik toks is such a vibe, something I would add to my spotify playlist - fingers crossed you get the confidence to release the whole thing! :)
I love this. I have done similar this year, looked at all the things I wanted to do this year, and then divided it into the season. I figured then I'm more likely to review each quarter and then have a more realistic view of my capacity
I love the 12 week system! It makes sense that the system makes more sense starting at the beginning of the year. Personally, I shape my 12 weeks around the seasons. I live in a part of Australia with very distinct Summer, Autumn, Winter and Spring, and I am someone who feels huge internal shift between the changing seasons, so it makes a lot of intuitive sense to me to follow my goals with the seasons. I loved hearing your goals! I love how specific & actionable they are. A nice reminder for me to take my own goals out of dream-mode and into something that is actually happening. Wishing you all the best for 2024 😊
I usually am a big goal setter as well, but this year it felt overwhelming and like too much pressure. I think not every year has to be a crazy productive year, sometimes it's time to rest :)
Yes to this! Not enough reminders of this. It is often one team or another, but a healthier way to look at it i think is it's about doing what works for us and being flexible according to how we feel and what's going on in our lives at the time
As someone in their late 30s. You are absolutely not tethered to the habits and behaviors of your 20s. You will grow and change so much. 20s you and 30s are not the same people
great video + i love this approach! 2 things I have learnt from recent experience though: go easy on yourself with the learning to drive one - it can be super expensive, may not come naturally at all and tests are all often booked up 6+ months in advance! its possible to pass your test in 6 months but i would try not to be too disappointed if not! also - really hope your dad makes a complete recovery but my mum had a stroke 18 months ago and she still isnt the same as she was before, and will never be. of course this is okay and I'm glad she has recovered as much as she has but I wish someone had warned me about this so I had time to process it
Really nice video!! One of my goals for this year is to start making music and I think a video about how you started making music would be incredibly inspirational
Loved this! I'm obsessed with Notion, but don't consider myself a goal oriented person. I really appreciated the walkthrough, and this sounds like a way to make big dreams manageable. I can't wait to dive into the template!
I just wanted to mention i really loved the Elf Bar video you made a while back. The format was very informative while still being entertaining! Cheers to the new year!
Coming back to this video now in November 2024 after watching in Jan… my Q1 goal was to pass my theory test so by Q4 I would pass my driving test. I had to come back to this video to say I passed today. This system really worked and I will be doing it again come Jan 2025. Would love for you to do this again and maybe for you to reflect on your 2024. Thank you so much for the motivation. Another huge this I did not anticipate happening this year but weirdly I wrote down for my Q2 was to have my fertility checked, I had a few issues during labour with my 2022 baby so I wanted to investigate how it may effect future pregnancies. In Q2 of this year I sadly had a miscarriage. Thankfully I am now pregnant again but it’s really funny looking back how I just wanted to make sure I could be in the position I’m in now and a lot of that took all the planning I did in Jan! Thanks for an awesome video Lucy and I hope as we are coming up to the end of the year you’ve had a good one!
I like this approach and am considering giving it a try. I found that my reading dropped away when I turned about 30 and podcasts and audiobooks basically replaced this because I just could not connect with reading. It made me feel stupid. I have bought books and tried again and failed. I’m ok with this because I think audiobooks count, but you’re right about the “podcasts that feel like a washing machine/ are basically stream of consciousness babble” observation. I filter those out pretty immediately.
Regarding your music: I still very much enjoy the song (a cover I think) you and Dodie shared a few years ago! Look forward to hearing more 😄 Good luck with your goals! They sound achievable and also like they will enrich your life.
I used to play games during 3-6 hours per day or and binge watch TV in my 20's and I don't do that now in my 30's I have two kids and my time is for them and my husband and home the extra time is for my family and friends so don't worry about habits that make you happy now they might and they do change when you don't need them anymore. Also, my dad got ill towards the end of last year and I took the time to take care of him and it was the best I could do because he died suddenly this year and I'm happy to have had done everything I could for him. I'm not saying don't take care of yourself and your life but give your dad the time you can and make it count because it's a good feeling when you know you did. (hope your dad gets well fast
My intent was not to worry you more but to make you feel better because it does sound like you are helping your father and that is important for you too
I think for goals that I really want to get done i a) have a PLAN on what to do !! and it helps if its on the calendar (ie monday 15th I will do this) b) I put something on the line ie money and c) if its a more general goal I find doing it with other people really helps for accountability but also support ! I feel like an easy one here is I'm running my first race in a few months. So I've got a running plan for every week, I've also already paid for entry so I know that I might as well get my moneys worth by competing, and I'm doing it with my friend ! This might not work as well for more personal goals, but for stuff that's really tangible I feel like this is a solid way to go about them :)
I really enjoyed this video Lucy :) I have been wanting to check out the 12 week year method but haven't got round to it. I like the idea of checking in on each area of your life, but ooooff, I'm also a little trepidatious about it 😅
Actually loved this so much I’ve used this similar less goals broken down into habits method before and think that using that template may be a good addition for me!! Also where is your comfy sweater from then? Much love to you and sending out peace and positivity your way ❤❤❤
A little thought on your writing! 💕 I saw you rejigger your Substack and genuinely think it’s such a cool spot! Obviously I’m not aware how much I come this brings in, but I wonder if it could become a genuine revenue stream if you pitched these articles to digital/print publications! They often pay $1-$5 per word and for the amount you write and skill level. & bet you could bring in additional income! Just a little thought 🥰 loved the vid!!!
i've had a lot of parental health emergencies kind of barricading my way to putting myself first (within structure of support-extension-capacity) while getting my groove on with adulting, so i feel called to kind of give my sympathies and maybe share how for me atleast the existential-shock of that almost comes with the stages of grief itself (which can arise guilt because there's that well they made it - hopefully - so why grieve now kinda thing) but it's so jarring there may be some denial fogging and internalization of not being able to impact somebody else's physical or mental health much.. it's given me a lot of resilience of heart i believe but that thing of a lot of people cannot or do not know how to verbalise toward someone going through that shock really impacted me so when i find people impacted i almost feel that thing of oh i hope you're not taking that to heart too much (while i did and i know people conceptualize these experiences very differently) it helped me not to use that as a self-silencing sabotage, to keep talking on it even if people do not get it or dread to think around it even! loads of thoughts, hope you're being held up with support while you're offering yours up within capacities you hold it shows in my comment, it took me a good week to potentially extend these thoughts toward you, there's that stepback sometimes with responding to somebody else's shock that i found very hard to wrap my head around, it's very human
Loved this video, your outfit is so cute!!! I have a question, sorry if it's too personal (you don't have to share): what were the 6 streams of income you had? I'm just curious as I've definitely thought about developing more streams of income over the years but as someone with non-influential/boring full-time job and full-time mental health issues it seems so daunting and I have no idea where to begin, Thanks
Great Q 🤍 in no particular order: 1. TH-cam Adsense 2. Brand partnerships (YT & IG) 3. Fingers Crossed merch 4. Speaking/Advising/Consulting 5. Affiliate links 6. Channel memberships All very YT-centric so maybe not the most inspiring, sorry!
I also LOVE goal videos and recently have been binging Ella's @smileycitrus reset videos. They are motivating while also not being hustle/girl boss y. They are cozy and comfy and honest
Hey Lucy! I know it’s not something you’re looking into until Q4 but I thought I’d shoot my shot - I’m currently a full time marketing girlie with a background in social media and music photography. I also studied History at uni, and I have experience working with fashion and beauty for York fashion week. I love your videos and your vibe - I think we’d be a good fit - if you are ever wanting to look for an assistant I would absolutely love to chat!

@@ruthsdyspraxiacontentneurospicy here and I completely agree
Thanks for being open about the phone addiction! I waste hours scrolling too and also need to get it under control
It’s not great is it 🥲 we’ll get there!
I’m pretty bad too. I recently hit 10 hours screen time after a stressful period.
If you haven't read it, Stolen Focus by Johann Hari is amazing at exploring our addiction to our phones/ social media. Would recommend if you want to change your relationship with your phone ☺️ Cal Newport's book is also good.

Thank you!! ♥️
Sorry to hear about your Dad, Lucy. Praying for his continued recovery.
Thank you xxxx
We are around the same age and one of my top yearly goals is also to learn how to drive. In my case it's to be more independent and to confront my anxiety about cars and the road. Here's to us getting our permits
We’ve got this 💪
Bonsoir mon ami
Loved this video!!! Your energy is so vibrant and dynamic! I’d be so keen on updates about your quarters throughout the year!
Thank you! ♥️

So sorry to hear about your dad. I’m wishing for his continued improvement! 🤞🏾
Thank you 🤍
Love to listen to you chatting about life ❤❤
thanks angel 🤍
the financial instability in 2023 was insane. it bled into every aspect of my life and was so incredibly draining and overwhelming. it was hard to do anything! thankfully, january has been seemingly more stable but wow has it made me paranoid about spending. my partner and i have a more solid spending budget/tracker now but jesus… good riddance 2023
It is often one team or another, but a healthier way to look at it i think is it's about doing what works for us and being flexible according to how we feel and what's going on in our lives at the time

also - really hope your dad makes a complete recovery but my mum had a stroke 18 months ago and she still isnt the same as she was before, and will never be. of course this is okay and I'm glad she has recovered as much as she has but I wish someone had warned me about this so I had time to process it
The idea od 12 week year sounds so good, I think I'll give it a try myself as well - quite late start this year but better now than never, right? :)
Really nice video!! One of my goals for this year is to start making music and I think a video about how you started making music would be incredibly inspirational
I shared an in depth one on my tiktok last week! It’s in the music playlist on my page x
(It would be on TH-cam but there’s a 60 second shorts limit here 🥲)
These glasses look so good on you ❤️
I use Finch or Asana, but I am typically more task based then the normal person ❤️
Lucy you 100% will be able to release and ep and launch a business in 2024!!!!
Thank you for the belief!! 😭♥️
Such a good video ❤! Good luck with your goals, and thank you for inspiring and motivating us!
Congrats Jasmine!! I’m sorry to hear about your miscarriage but congrats on your rainbow baby ♥️
I love this video and how the planner seems to have given you a great tool to make your goals more tangible!
I like this approach and am considering giving it a try.

I tend to set milestone/phase checks based on progress point of the goal. Ideally goal completion time varies but check at 30% completion intervals 🙊
Smart!!
I loved this video Lucy! Not sure what it was but it just clicked with me. Wishing you love + determination to continue with your goals
Regarding your music: I still very much enjoy the song (a cover I think) you and Dodie shared a few years ago! Look forward to hearing more 😄
Good luck with your goals! They sound achievable and also like they will enrich your life.
Lucy I’m late to view this but Elbow Grease spray got rid of lily pollen stains on a t shirt for me.
Worth a try x
Your youtube videos are my favourite to watch!

I relate to all this so hard. And I can’t wait for the ep!!
This is such a late comment, but just wondering where your jumper/hoodie is from? it looks so soft and cozy!
my practical driving test is on 5th Feb! good luck x
I think for goals that I really want to get done i a) have a PLAN on what to do !! and it helps if its on the calendar (ie monday 15th I will do this) b) I put something on the line ie money and c) if its a more general goal I find doing it with other people really helps for accountability but also support ! Happy new year Lucy!! I adore your glasses by the way
Thank you! They’re from Jimmy Fairly, I think they’re the Rosa M. Happy new year xo
Hope your exam went well!
I really enjoyed this video Lucy :) I have been wanting to check out the 12 week year method but haven't got round to it. I like the idea of checking in on each area of your life, but ooooff, I'm also a little trepidatious about it 😅
Lucy, you look amazing!
Just a little thought 🥰 loved the vid!!!
love the glasses! they look super cute
My goals are: to speak my mind and cultivate a more direct personality.
Amazing video, thank you for sharing! I'm excited for your 2024 😊
i've had a lot of parental health emergencies kind of barricading my way to putting myself first (within structure of support-extension-capacity) while getting my groove on with adulting, so i feel called to kind of give my sympathies and maybe share how for me atleast the existential-shock of that almost comes with the stages of grief itself (which can arise guilt because there's that well they made it - hopefully - so why grieve now kinda thing) but it's so jarring there may be some denial fogging and internalization of not being able to impact somebody else's physical or mental health much..
it's given me a lot of resilience of heart i believe but that thing of a lot of people cannot or do not know how to verbalise toward someone going through that shock really impacted me so when i find people impacted i almost feel that thing of oh i hope you're not taking that to heart too much (while i did and i know people conceptualize these experiences very differently) it helped me not to use that as a self-silencing sabotage, to keep talking on it even if people do not get it or dread to think around it even!
loads of thoughts, hope you're being held up with support while you're offering yours up within capacities you hold
it shows in my comment, it took me a good week to potentially extend these thoughts toward you, there's that stepback sometimes with responding to somebody else's shock that i found very hard to wrap my head around, it's very human
I LOVE your look, where are your glasses from?!
i would be sooo interested in a video about your music creation process
Where's the jumper from xx
Super cool way of setting goals! Now im almost sad im not trying it this year
GET IT 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I LOVE this video ❤️ sending the biggest love to you and your family. Is that 'Things I don't want to know' by Deborah Levy in the background?
Hi! What glasses are you wearing please? I couldn't find the link on your page! Thanks!
They’re from Jimmy Fairly - the Rosy M I think!
omg i am also trying to do an EP this year - my deadline for myself is 17th May bc I want to do it before I graduate uni
Love this video!
Great Q 🤍 in no particular order:
1. TH-cam Adsense
2. Brand partnerships (YT & IG)
3. Fingers Crossed merch
4. Speaking/Advising/Consulting
5. Affiliate links
6. Channel memberships
All very YT-centric so maybe not the most inspiring, sorry!
I also LOVE goal videos and recently have been binging Ella's @smileycitrus reset videos. They are motivating while also not being hustle/girl boss y. They are cozy and comfy and honest
4:08 I love that jumper 🤣 where'd you get it?
Obsessed with the glasses!
Great video! Quick question, what is Hours?
Just wondering what hours is? Is it a company ? Or brand?
where are your glasses from ?!?!?!
What piano books do you use? ❤
Where are your glasses from?
The goblin comment got me! 😅
What's the phone app called for restricting apps? Can't find it on play store :(
Opal! 🤍
Lucy Moon take up sewing.
Greetings from Bosnia. ❤❤❤ You are so cute 🫶🥹
So not the point of this video, but my god the shallowness of your mug is causing me untold amounts of stress
