      The Secular Humanist isn’t misrepresenting themselves.
      Jesus Christ isn’t the property of any version of Christian Faith.
      The “message” of Jesus and the mythology associated with Jesus is part of world cultural heritage.
      So, Jesus is ‘mine’ as much as Jesus is anyone’s.
      A Secular Humanist may quote Mark Twain, Einstein, Confucius, Franklin, Buddha, Jesus or anyone else.
      I have a sincere personal and cultural background in Christian history and beliefs and perhaps this viewer does as well.
      Acknowledging that we have insufficient evidence to conclude miraculous narratives are reliably historical events doesn’t prevent one
      from expressing value and wisdom or honesty and respect.
      What of value and wisdom is exemplified by Trump and his MAGA cult?
      How does Trump represent honesty and respect?

    • @johno8824

      @user-jd9zm4jf3t: I am not here to defend my worldview or secular humanism, ( @ciperclosenuf9242 has made some good points that I agree with 100%), but to applaud Pat on his mission to alert fellow Christians who are being duped by Trump and the MAGA movement.
      I will add though that I believe that there are very important and good reasons for separation between Church and State. Similarly, freedom of religion must be enshrined and fiercely protected in any true and fair democracy, and of course, freedom from other’s religion at the same time. There is a real danger that the MAGA movement could erode some of these fundamental cornerstones of democracy as we know it in the “free world”.

One important point that I have also been making is that if Nikki Haley had been the Republican nominee, I could have slept easy, knowing that whether she or Biden won the general election, neither of them would torch the Constitution. I always thought our leaders despite party affiliation would not care about the nation as a whole. Trump has changed my view on that. Through him, I've come to see how fragile democracy is. Additionally, anyone that has read the bible and understands God character, should be able to discern evil and notice that he's high off of divisiveness, chaos, and hate. He has been what he is his entire life. I believe what Charles Stanley always said, "You reap what you sow, more than you sow, later than you sow." It's sad to say, but Trump's harvest will be huge.

    All, nice, genuine feelings and points.
    My issue with Donnie boy is the opposing dynamic between all the lies he tells vs. the Spirit of Truth, which we got from Jesus. In a very 1984-way, Donnie boy twists words around to where they mean the opposite of what they should mean. Naming his platform "Truth Social" is a form of Doublespeak, where if the site were honestly named, it would be called "Lies are Us."
    The Bible does a fairly decent job of depicting Jesus as a very loving being, who treats people with love. In contrast, Donnie boy seems to go out of his way to make enemies. Ugh! Jesus was humble, Donnie boy is anything but.

    It takes courage for Pastors to speak out against Trump. We are all sinners and all need to repent and ask for forgiveness. Trump does not see a need to ask for forgiveness. Trump encourages and allows himself to be compared to the Lord Jesus Christ. He encourages his cult with lies and hatred of their fellowman made in God’s image. I do not see any Christian values or traits displayed in Trump and also with some of his followers. They unfortunately see themselves as Christian but their actions, speech and hearts are far, far away from Christ. All they do is dishonour our Lord.

    Sir I have watched quite a few of your videos & I want to thank you for what you’re doing. It probably sounds strange but I follow the teachings & messages of Jesus and also Buddhism. But I don’t consider myself a Christian or a Buddhist. I just agree with being kind, compassionate, empathetic, passive, and I have respect for ALL life, and that means animals that we share the planet with also. We all need to care for and look out for each other and our world. I’m in my mid 50’s, have always thought that and always will.
    That being said, I’ve also come to believe in the last 8 years or so, that I guess I never knew the true nature of most people. I’m definitely not naïve, I always knew there were people out there who just hated other people for no reason. That there were racists, that there were men who hate women, that there were people who would hate another person because they didn’t have the same religious beliefs or had none at all. I just didn’t have any clue until recently just how many millions feel that way.
    Since he came into the forefront and became president, I have lost my faith in people and haven’t set foot in any church for years now. In the past, whenever I felt down or stressed out about something, many times I’d take comfort in going to a church and just sitting quietly by myself when there wasn’t a service going on. I’ don’t do that anymore. It’s not the faith itself, it’s not God. It’s the people. I can’t reconcile people claiming to follow Jesus and behaving the way a big portion of them are. Obviously I know it’s not all of them. But it’s a lot, too many for me to be comfortable with. The melding of Trump, QAnon, Christian nationalism and many church pastors and leaders putting too much emphasis on politics and hating “others” has put our country and the world in a very, very bad place. It’s gone on too long. I cry a lot because of everything I see and observe. And mainly it’s due to me questioning myself.. did I ever really know anyone? Is this the way Christians have always been, but now it’s out in the open? It’s heartbreaking. And I have nowhere to turn. (My family members have all passed & I live alone.) What used to mean something to me doesn’t mean anything anymore. That’s my personal story of the kind of damage that’s been done. And I’m far from the only one who feels let down and lost.
    Anyway, I appreciate you. Please take care of yourself. 💕

    As a 63 year old Christian man, I have never voted in my life.
    Why?... because I know that voting violates God's commandments.
    What I have done most of my adult life is to follow what's happening in the world to see how it relates to Bible prophecy... politics included.
    It has been crystal clear to me that democrats are more pro-life than Republicans; but neither party qualifies as pro-life. So therefore, no Christian can use the pro-life issue to justify voting. God's word makes it perfectly clear that friendship with this world makes you his enemy. We don't need to be focusing on the things of this world and how we can change the world... we need to focus on how we can become more and more christ-like while we still have a chance to do so.

      @Supportingtruth8258 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@culturefaithandpolitics I'm sure that you would agree that it would be wrong to encourage someone to violate God's word. But that's exactly what voting does. Both Jesus and James made it abundantly clear that we are not to swear to any oath at all. But politicians put their hand on the Bible that says to swear not at all, and then proceed to swear to an oath. And that's just one of many ways that politicians violate God's word. I would no more help, or encourage a man to swear to an oath, than I would drive an alcoholic to the liquor store so he can buy his alcohol.
      You would serve yourself well to study all the reasons why Christians should never vote. I've heard all the excuses as to why it's okay for a Christian to swear to an oath, but none of them can be supported by the word of God. It shouldn't be that hard to ascertain that Christians should have it as part of their testimony to the world, that we trust God and that we are not making this world our home.

    I'm trying to provide an analytical response to these videos, but so far they are mostly introductory and they are making claims without going into the details of those claims, so any refutation of the claims will probably have to wait until later videos when more details are provided. I agree somewhat with your discussion about judgement. I think many Christians get this wrong, and Christians are called upon to admonish one another over their actions. Often, when judgements are made about people's actions, they are interpreted as being judgements against the people taking those actions. Realistically, we are all called to make judgements every day, and if parents didn't make judgements about their children's actions, the children would be unsafe.
    I believe that you are overlooking the biggest factor that makes a Christian support Trump. Based on what I have watched so far, it seems that you are convinced that Trump has created some sort of cult of believers who would follow him anywhere. I'm sure there are some supporters who would, but I believe that the reason most Christian supporters of Trump do so is because of a significant distrust of the media. This video states several times that Trump poses a threat to the Democracy, and to the world. And, again, I expect you to back up those claims in future videos. But, I think the view of many is that it doesn't hold up to past experience. Back in 2016, there were all sorts of warnings about how it would be the end of our Democracy if Donald Trump were elected president. And then he was elected president, and we didn't slip into an immediate dystopian society with Trump as dictator for life. Now, eight years later, to try to make the same claims about the threats that Donald Trump poses is similar to the boy who cried wolf. Why should people believe it? Over the years, I have watched the media evolve into what I now think is diabolical (particularly in coverage of pro-life issues). The majority of news sources are run almost entirely by Democrats, and there are systems in place to squash stories that work against a particular narrative. So, I believe that when you make claims about Donald Trump being an evil man who poses a threat to the Democracy, the average Christian Trump supporter doesn't say "so what?", but instead says "show me some evidence that I can trust".
    You also discuss bias at the end of this video, and I think you got this wrong. You are still biased, but you have shifted your bias to the left from the right. I'm OK with that. Everyone is biased, and their biases are based on their past experiences and perceptions. The only time I think that we need to try to eliminate bias is in the news business. We need them to be striving to be as un biased as humanly possible. But, unfortunately, they no longer make any attempts at providing unbiased coverage. But you are no less biased because you switched your point of view. You just picked up a different bias. If somebody moved from the Democratic party to the Republican party, would you say they are no longer biased?

    • @8ofwands300
      @8ofwands300 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Aren't you missing two key points?: 1. Trump attempted a coup against our government. That's about as dystopian as it gets. 2. Trump is the one who started calling all media " fake news" to undermine its credibility in the eyes of his followers, eroding yet another pillar of our society that holds the powerful to account. I suggest you spend time reading outside of your echo chamber. The first Trump administration was horrible. He failed and continues to wreak havoc. It's hard for me to believe you don't understand that.

Despite these obstacles, Biden has shepherded us through the worst of it. his experience in government matters.
