Thank you for sharing a story from a badminton professional perspective. There are a lot of nuances that we can learn from this podcast on what it takes and how to become a great badminton athlete.
Absolutely loved this interview ! Ashwini comes across as a very articulate, grounded and intelligent individual. And completely stunning too. Thank you for bringing her on. Wishing her luck and the very best for the Olympics . I loved the interviewer too. Such well thought out questions and meaningful engagement. Couldn’t help but subscribe to watch other interviews now & hopefully we will get to see more interviews from badminton greats!
You are a star. Keep on shining Ashwini - on court and off. Keep the positivity, I'm excited to see some fantabulous performances from you and the entire badminton contingent in Paris. All the best. 👍👍👍
Chinese women's doubles shuttlers had to kill each other to get to olympics. They have 3 pairs in top 8 - the norm is to have only max 2 pairs from each country. Here we are sending a 34 year old and taking pride in it. No doubt, Ashwini was a gem, but she's way past her prime and WD and XD in India has really long way to go to even dream of a medal at a major event.
Yes, Whatever u pointed out here is true. Instead of looking for new faces, we are relying on old legs, she can as part of contingent but not by cost of younger player. I dont think, we do have right streamline process to reach that level, we keep on seeing same players again and again except cricket. If this continue, she will play until get married.
You are such a inspiration but mam we are still lagging with olympics medal will always do well in world level but when it comes to Olympic no medal at least a bronze or hardly no 4th position well where we are lagging we always go big ranking in Olympic but result always disappointed
These are the star athletes who can give lot of inspiration to younger girls and generation. But unfortunately cricketers take 99.9% of popularity , advertising and money pie . Reason with 1.4 billion people India comes back with single digit Olympic medals below small countries.
I don't understand why she is being sent to represent India when she is well past her best. Not trying to undermine her achievements at all, but there is no way she is going to win a medal at Paris. She should rather coach some promising player and win a gold for India through him or her. The BAI is clearly not up to the mark selecting the teams. If they claim that there were no other options, that's an even bigger problem.
u were right ....really dull performance by ponnappa crasto in both the matches .... the level is too high for the indian pair to even hve a fighting chancve
@@idrisahmed2659 getting beaten by a margin of 10 points is nothing less than a thrashing in badminton. Worst part is, everyone knew this was going to happen. At least now Ponnappa should issue a public apology for not letting a youngster take her spot.
@@RahulDeoPhotography i dont think even if ponnappa didnt choose to play there are any other great young women doubles players who can go the distance in olympics ..... right now india doesnt have a star WD and MD pair ....
Not at all a worthy player anymore.. saw her game yesterday..felt like as if some amateur athelete was playing. We should definitely give our young girls more chance.
why we sent to olympics 24 , no players for doubles? She didnt perform well in any olympics. Sorry to say. Aus & koren players at her age and experience played well.
As a parent to a badminton player, I can say there's Lot to take from this podcast. Thank you Ashu...
This is a gem of a podcast! Ashwini's intellect on court shows up off court as well!! ❤ All the best Ashwini! You will be do really well in Olympics.

I think you mean nuances instead of nuisance. Completely different meaning

Very true... Gayathri and tressa is far better than these pair
@@crazylife8387 lol we don't have good WD or XD pairs. Gayetri and tressa are average and it's better not to talk about those pandas rn.
I loved that she said. Not just my father, my mother also had a big hand.
She is so adorable 🥰

Because she still earned her spot by ranking.
Other than Trees- Gayathri pair, unfortunately there is no quality WD pair in India now.
Yes, We do not have good WD pairs or not ready to identify them

She has got extremely poor mentality for an international athelete, always blaming others for her lack of cutting edge .
As a host, you talk too much
Time to retire
Very urgent
She failed in Olympics
She failed in all world tournaments.
I need a better partner for doubles! :(
You just start dear,
I AM ready for men double and mixed doubles.....🙏
I dnt know, why these players travel to olympics.. no hopes always gets defeated before qtr or pre qtr finals.. 0 hopes from ponappa..
