He is the most awkward dark humor comedian and I love it
The most awkward to me is Ben Stiller for example Grandma's ashes in Meet the Parents but yes Pete is in the junior mafia of Cringe Comedy.
@@stevemiller747 ben stiller is like... trying too hard to be awkward. pete's got that natural "scrawny unpopular kid" energy
Agree 💯
It's so inappropriate and I love every minute of it. 🤣
@@dietotaku Yeah, this is just who he is...LOL
Davidson is easy to underestimate, but he's got great comic chops and presence. He definitely fills a niche in comedy.
niche? He was on SNL for a decade. You might want to check the meaning of "niche"
@@BribriziaLaBrii think anybody using the word niche should rethink a couple things
😆😆 @@PiglipsMaximus
He has good stage presence & timing. Other than that he's a average stand up & not great at sketch.
"Davidson" ok you nerd
His dark humor is what makes younger generations absolutely love him. Pete isn't given enough credit.
He's a very average stand up comedian who isn't good in sketch. His support comes from you teenage girls who don't watch stand up.
My first thought reading all of the “he’s not funny” comments was that they are simply out of touch with the experiences of people closer to Pete’s age. Which unfortunately is not who is watching SNL, but good for him that he no longer has to appeal to that generation.
And older generations 😮too😂
@@Nonesovile96hahaha 😂😂😂the Putitans, there’s a lot of Puritans in New England and they dress like 40s fashion. They love to say the are daughters of the Mayflower !! I don’t like liars.
He's really grown as a comedian and actor, wasnt a big fan of him when he first started but his growth has been incredible to watch. He definitely put the work in and deserves all the success he has gotten
i think he was better back then personally
my thoughts exactly. king of staten island cemented him. like a how tg2 made you realize tom cruise got his shit together
I feel this 1000%. Perfectly explained!
Pete’s comedy has matured. The flow and timing is great.
I agree!!! This is the most mature Pete Davidson ever. ❤
If he gets any more mature he's going to fantasize about banging his mother.
Yeah I like it, it’s smarter and a little less obvious jokes
He sounds like Seinfeld 😂
You think!! He’s slick!! So different! Money & fame are doing him well, I guess. Good for him! I hope he’s happy!
I will never forget the skit of Pete and Adam Driver in the classroom for parents day. Epic.
“Look at ya father boy” lmao I quote that skit on the regular
@@Red5ive”I SEE YOU MAN!” is what I quote on the regular lol
CRUSH YOUR ENEMIEEEESSSS 😂
"I SLEPT WITH YOUR GRANDDAUGHTER, FILLED HER BELLY WITH MY FESTERING SEED, AND SIRED A BOY! HE IS MY FINAL REVENGE, HR PICKENS!"
"who's HR Pickens?"
"EXACTLY!"
“You are weak like HR Pickens” 😂😂😂
How does he make something so dark so relatable and funny. Pete is a genius.
Idk about relatable 😂
which part, the incest or banging someone who OD'd?
I find Pete weirdly likeable. Like his jokes are not mind-blowing, but more like something your annoying little cousin would say at family reunions. You roll your eyes, but you still feel sad when he moves away to college and you don't see him that much anymore.
But then he drops out and you realize you prefer sadness.
To be fair, he probably had to sanitise his materials because it’s usually a lot more dark and dirty than this. His actual stand up is pretty good in my opinion.
This is an insult if you’re a professional comedian
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH THAT IS SUCH A WEIRDLY ACCURATE EXPLANATION
Well put!
Always feel SNL is better when a comic hosts
man straight up fact! they just know the atmosphere and how to play towards it!
Yeah Pete was the only reason I watched this
Well, Pete's a comic and former cast member (first and, so far, only one born in the 1990s and the youngest former cast member to come back and host and one in a handful of hosts who originally was supposed to host an episode during a season that was cut short because of a writer's strike). That makes it better.
This guy should be a sanitation worker. He is the most overrated comic in the world. Lorne Michaels loves him for some weird reason.
Let's us know when they find one.
Good lord, Pete turning 30 makes me feel 100 😂
Really? I have nightgowns older than him. Probably a hand nail too .
😀 just joking with you!
It does for me too. He’s a tadpole. He can’t be 30.
I mean he was the young resident person once 😢
I’m 35 and thought he was older than me.
Same. WTH ?😂 but is great, that means he’s still so young and will keep maturing his comedy.
You know what I love? The smile on everybody's face in the entire band behind him! They absolutely adore him, and I'll bet they can't say that for everybody who has ever been on SNL. I think he's just so cute and funny as well, and I'm old enough to be his grandmother. I wish him nothing but the best for ever and ever. Sending you all the best life has to offer, from sunny Old Mexico.
I second that from Playa.
Not the guy in the back right tho 😂😂😂 LOLQ❤
Blessings mami
I never thought Pet Davidson would make me tear up from a SNL monologue?!?! Great job Pet!
I will forever call him pet
I'm surprised that that he can even say Pussy on live tv
The "It was another time" part on the GOT incest made me dying laughing
What I was thinking was, "It wasn't another time, George R. R. Martin invented this timeline, and invented all the incest."
I still have yet to sit down and watch one episode of GOT.
@@jasonwebb1882in case you do season 1 to 5 are amazing, It goes downhill from there
@@jasonwebb1882 My sister (Hmm) gifted me the first book, but after hearing how many books there are and it's ongoing, I haven't bothered.
He's been watching too much brother-sister porn.
I’M SO GLAD SNL IS BACK 😭😭😭😭
same i missed it
Me too love this show
Yeah .
The last time was 911. .when they came back, they announced they didn't know how they could joke. Then they said they were going to try. It was ruff.
I'm glad it's back to toots
AMEN
His awkward humor is so endearing given what his life was like when at 7 his father walked into the Towers and never came back. Bless this young man.
Yep, and he's willing to capitalize off that tragedy, once again, if you just tune into his next Netflix special. He's a hack and an opportunist.
@@user-ul8rh2su3nexactly that’s all he talks about like ok we know
@@JillianVSJillThat isn’t “all he talks about” because in the countless times I have seen and/or heard from him over the years, this monologue was the first time I knew about his dad’s death. (When he was hanging out with Kim K, she talked about Pete having Crohn’s disease but he has never mentioned anything about it.) Unless you have been a 7 year old whose dad died so suddenly, unexpectedly and violently, there is no way to fully understand how it has affected him.
What happened at the tower
@@yosemitegirlCAI don't remember ever knowing that about him. That breaks my heart. And,his story of how his Mom made him laugh is so touching.
I’ve always had a soft spot for Pete. We both lost our dads as kids, we both have messed up minds, and we’ve both dealt with that in messed up ways. I understand & love his humor & the face he makes when he knows he’s about to f**k up the crowd with his next line is always glorious. 😂 I’ve very much enjoyed seeing him grow over the years, and I definitely think he’s one of those few people that absolutely shine on SNL & in their own projects. I wish you all the best, Pete!
It’s a shame that’s where the similarities end.
The king of dark humor! Oh, how I missed Pete. You can tell that the audience doesn't always know if they should laugh or not, you FEEL the tension sizzle in the room, and then he nails the delivery like he nailed that drug OD girl.
Far from the king. You're just ignorant.
Idk about the KING that's Anthony Jeselnik
Bill Burr and Richard Pryor
The audience doesn’t know if they should laugh or not because he’s not funny
@@Maliphresh anthony is too cocky
So fucking cool seeing him host. I thought he would have to wait years to host but it’s so awesome he’s back and doing what every cast member dreams of doing one day.
Why?
@@michaels4013because
@@michaels4013 Why what?
Generally people who did something great as cast members while on the show come back to host and not just starfuckers.
Pete was supposed to host during the last three episodes of season 48 (last season), but that was also when the WGA (Writers Guild of America) went on strike, so season 48 ended with the Ana de Armas episode. What's worse is that we also lost out on Kieran Culkin coming back to host and Jennifer Coolidge hosting for the first time (unless Lorne is currently trying to find spaces for these two to host).
Pete is so wonderful and hilarious. His monologue is basically him trolling the Standards Department and I loved every moment of it.
ehh
I love when he can help it but to smile at his own Jokes , I think it is so cute
You can see how much Pete has grown on his own. But also, I think John Mulaney taking Pete under his wing has very beneficial. You can see it in his delivery
Love their friendship/mentorship. Prayers for them and theirs!
Holy cow, NBC really is doubling down on this AI issue.........
wow that makes a lot of sense. i feel like they are variants of each other. the rich preppy looking rehab comic and the working joe rehab comic
@@user-ul8rh2su3n Why would they expend AI on SNL/Pete? Actually... You know what? I'll drop this one, *if* you guys admit Depp/Heard was 🤖'd long b4 the general public knew about AI's tech progress.
That & it tipped the scale from even-steven to mostly in Depp's favor. (Not discounting the effect his fame had, which served to _cancel_ out the♀factor aka the vast quantities of data that show ♀are almost always the victim, not the abuser.)
No doubt, he nailed it. 😂
No doubt, he did NOT.
Your standards are loooow!
Almost nailed his sister.
@@afisemenaborevlaka48he nailed the dead chick 🤷♂️
Idk each to they own.. but the monologue was kind of mid to me
I’ve loved Pete since day one. I also love the work of his buddy, Dave.
I love that they gave him the stage to do his own monolog- showcase his comedy
“Am I about to bang this chick?!”😂😂😂😂😂 Feels like comedy back in the day where you felt kinda guilty for laughing but can’t argue…that ish is HILARIOUS!😂💀
Pete's stand up is sounding good you can tell he been doing shows, and a sharpening it up what a fantastic way to kick off the new season great job SNL ,and Pete.
Can't imagine what he went through losing his Dad on one of the darkest days this country has ever seen, he has my respect..
His dad was around in October 12, 1492?
Without that happening no one would know who Pete Davidson is
@@Obie. Funny, his Dad was a firefighter and died on September 11, 2001..
he’s so naturally funny, will never understand the hate he gets
someone explained it. Pete is that guy that makes other guys jealous because they can't understand why someone like him is more successful and liked than they are.
Because he is not funny and Millennials have no sense of humor, so he's perfect. Bill Burr and Chapelle crush this lightweight.
I knew a chick that told me about his standup saying it was hilarious. I love standup so I was like hell yeah ill check him out. Didn't laugh once 🤷
@@og-mgtow How old are you?
He gets hate?
Please stay alive brother. Even as I perceive the hurt and uncertainty, you are a gem. Through it all, we see your beauty, and that is why we’re rooting for you.
What a good feeling for SNL to come back? I always like Pete Davison. He is a very funny young man. I am happy he is back and I like all the SNL cast members. They are awesome comedians. I can laugh on Saturdays again.

Been watching his sets since he was a teen. Granted not too too long ago, but his routine has absolutely gotten better. Cheers Pete
The more Pete grows into himself the more he gives me Sandler vibes.
he always had a Sandler vibe, that was one of his biggest comedic inspirations
You mean that as a compliment?
@@caesarvolz6945Adam Sandler has made a LOT of shitty movies, but he is undeniably a talented comedian.
Like if Adam Sandler and Jason Mewes had a kid somehow.

Pete's grown up so much over the past couple of years. I'm seeing signs of Rodney Dangerfield, Norm McDonald, and Conan in this and surely many others. Such a sentimental and down to earth dude, this is why people love Pete Davidson. He never forgot where he came from.
This was the best comedy performance of Pete Davidson I’ve seen of his
Really? It sucks!
The people in the background are so exemplary of how good he is
Guys. This is the best SNL monologue in a LONG TIME. I was CRACKING UP at the ending. WTF I love him.
Is this sarcasm? lol
"And a slice"😂😂😂
I am still impressed by the SNL production team, who manage to dismantle the cold open set and prepare the monologue area, all whilst the opening titles are playing. They have just a few minutes to do it all every Saturday night live. Impressive.
Good for him! Always a joy to see a young artist grow up and succeed, and "Staten Man Yells About Game of Thrones" could be a full podcast, excellent bit
I loved that last bit when he turned it around about her dying. It seemed like the audience wasn't too thrilled and felt it was in poor taste. That was the point and made it even more hilarious!
I’m lying here in bed laughing my ass off, I just did a studio audience in NYC and I just knew I would have been that awkward loud laugh in the back 😭😭😭😭
its obvious that pete's comedy is also his therapy, and i am here for him.
Wow, times are so tough in the world, he brings some duck humor’ and cranks it up a bunch! Much needed stuff Pete! Thanks!
Duck humor?
What a quack 🦆
How do you fix a broken birdhouse 🦆 duck tape
What is a ducks favorite snack 🦆
Quackerjacks
Why did the Nazi ducks think they were better than the Australian kiwi 🦆 because they were avians
That last joke is a good example of *duck humor. 🎉
Duck humor quacks me up.
I knew where his joke was going at the end there and it was still hilarious! Great job Pete
The way he said “with a view” 😅😂 so cute and hilarious 😆
The dude in the back of the guy in grey hair didn’t laugh until the dead girl joke 😂
Great to see Pete back again. I've missed SNL so much!!
Great all around show for pete. He finally became what I hoped he could be during his snl days. It was great to see him focused and enjoying it
I’ve watched all his skits dozens of times. Love me some Pete Davidson!
He really came back strong and I was more than happy to see him host. Great episode and nice delivery on his jokes. I think it’s really beautiful how he can see the humor in things and use comedy to cope with the hardships of life.
Pete's turning 30? He doesn't look a day over 40.
I understand how weirded out he was about watching Game of Thrones with his sister; I watched Bates Motel at the same time as my mother.
lol ...That's funnier than the monologue.
Buh dum cha 🥁
That last joke was wild. I love it 😂
What a roller coaster of a monologue that was. Love this guy
I just love how he used to beg to be in more sketches and now he's in every single one. So proud 😂😂😂
What a great monologue to start out the season. Happy to see Pete Davidson host. He made my night
I love Pete. His cold open still give me goosebumps
Probably one of the the most incredible, in every sense of the word, SNL monologues ever. Despite the uneasy topics and turns of events, Davidson wove one of the most mesmerizing, authentic. morbidly humorous and believable personal anecdotes I have ever heard. Truth is stranger, and funnier, than scripted comedy. Brilliant. I've never seen him shine brighter.
What drugs are you currently taking?
Love Pete's dark humor in this monologue
Dark humor? 9/11 ehh... tattoos ehhh.. new York ehhhh, bad jokes yey¡!! Clap and stand. Good job writers.

Holy cow this is one of the best monologues in a loooooong time
I definitely use comedy to cope. Also, great message pete. Beautiful
Gotta say... I was confused why they wanted Pete to bring us back from the writer strike but MAN.... He obviously has been working on his timing and delivery. He was really good!! I'm a fan fully now 🎉
Pete had been scheduled to open the season as host before the writers’ strike. He’s beloved on that set & earned the sentiment just by being himself!
I love his stand up 😂
From that intro to his monologue, he's nailing the $hit outta this! Can't wait for the rest 😊 🤘

Everytime I wanna feel good I come here. Thank you Pete.
Pete makes dark humor lovable! He has such a range, I feel like I'm watching Rodney Dangerfield, if he were a virgin teen today.
The best joke is when you already know the punch line, and they still deliver. Last joke was gold.
