My first car was a 60 Biscayne. Very similar body style, but a lower base model. 235 straight 6. Got like 10 MPG. But was 17 and loved the car.

Had this first car in 1966, a white one like this, 348 quad, I got 13 mpg. I was 17
Paid $150 for it, needed padded dashbord removel & painted, 2 mufflers, battery.
Drove it til I crashed it @18 pulled the engine and put in a 60 belair ($25) used that 3 speed instead of hydromatic, huge difference, great burnouts and Trush mullers sounded serious.

My father's best friend had a '59. My dad had a '63 at the time. One day, we all went to a picnic and I chose to ride in the '59. :0)

My first car was a 59 Impala. It was 1971. I paid $25 for it. After A few months I blew the transmission and it would only go in reverse. 🥲 Still love the 59 Impalas.

Man, Mecum is slipping twice tonight I watched the auctioneer get busted bumping a bidder off a ride. I know some sellers are trying to unload some nice rigs because the market is starting to soften a little but if you are not good enough to back a bid up without being caught need to try McDonalds. Plus the "barker" he has up there blowing all his knowledge on cars must be smoking crack (a 1966 Chevelle 396 BB 326 HP) must be a real "rare" engine. That poor guy they were pumping on the little red import they popped off his 100K bid then he quit and they backed it up, he should have told them to restart since he was the only bidder after 65K.
