I couldn't afford one when I was young. Now that I'm older, I still can't afford one.

I had the exact same color combination 57 Chevrolet convertible. Bought it in 1964 for $350.

We have a customer that has one almost exactly like this! Only difference is this, theirs has skirts!

Surprised they didn't mention anything about James Bond. This Bel Air looks exactly like the one from Dr No.

These 57s were so popular for so many years many of them got used up. To find one still around and available is surprising.

we have one from when my grandparents owned it. I think 11K miles on it. sitting in garage since 1980s. all original. how can we get it cleaned up, polished, and running again ? I think there is a US automotive school that trains mechanics in the art of auto restoration. anyone know that school name ?

@@sak123utube idk but I would be nagging whoever my family that has it and clean it up my self. If it’s only got 11k on it, throw a new battery and rubber on it and it’ll run. My grandpa had 57 bel air yellow, and they just sold it behind my back (he’s like 80) I was pissed!

@@tres311 It's not that easy. The brake system needs to be flushed and new or rebuilt master and wheel cylinders, The gas tank and lines should be flushed. The wheel bearings need to be serviced. The carburetor probably needs to be rebuilt, and a complete tune-up, oil change, and radiator flushed. There are many automotive training schools, and I bet any one of them would love to work on that car. Look in the phone book for one near you. Maybe try calling one of the TV shows that do that stuff, they may do it for you. When you have a car that special you shouldn't let it rot away till it's too far gone.

That's 100k after taxes and auction fees

What a beauty. But should have sold for more, I think.

Most of these bidders do their homework before the auction. They know what the car is worth and will not exceed that. That car's condition is what limited the final bid. I believe one in nice condition would have gone for a lot more. Beauty is only skin deep, as they say.

I can’t believe that a second hand car, the American equivalent of a Mk2 Consul or Mk1 Cortina, went for $70000!
