Yes, Me and one of my friends have even talked about what it could have looked like if it was made fifteen years later then it was. Would they have incorporated newer technologies like touch screens in the film.
" It's light. Handle's adjustable for easy carrying, good for righties and lefties. Breaks down into four parts, undetectable by x-ray, ideal for quick, discreet interventions. A word on firepower. Titanium recharger, three thousand round clip with bursts of three to three hundred, and with the Replay button - another Zorg invention - it's even easier."
As a fan, as a HUGE FAN....this makes me so incredibly happy to see that model go from rough arpund the edges to finally a finished piece. Great stuff.
I think it's because of copyrighted music (which is allowed on the actual show, but not on youtube) - they would have had to silence the track if they couldn't modify the original footage for whatever reason. This is a surprisingly common problem! If they left the music in, the video would be taken down.
I'd love to see a video where adam talks about other finished big personal projects like this and have him go through some that he's like to start/finish over the next few years. Really happy to see the ZF finally done, must be a great feeling.
Wow, *4 years???* I've been subscribed to Tested for way longer than I thought. Time really flies when you're watching great videos. Thanks, Tested crew!
I'm so happy Adam. The Fifth Element has to be my favourite sci-fi movie of all time. I will watch it every year at least 5 times a year. Obsessed with it.
This movie has so many iconic props, costumes and scenes. The ZF-1, the 'thermal bandage' outfit that Leeloo wore, the 'hallway' hat, Ruby Rod's weird outfits, The Diva Dance, Leeloo's reconstruction from just her hand.
I am so glad you finished it! I remember pausing my vhs to see it in detail and see if i could make it out paper and glue haha. One of my favorite movie props.
If I hadn't already seen The Fifth Element multiple times, seeing this video would make me really excited to seek it out. Who's watching this without having seen the film?
Damn, I envy you lol. I'd love to watch Fifth Element for the first time again. It was a mixture of "what the hell is this shit?" and "oh my god this shit is amazing!"
ive seen the movie over 75 times. Probably well over 100 times. A year after it was released a local theater opened and showed "old" movies for $00.25. Yep, 25 cents, just to get people in the doors. This was one of those movies. Easily saw it 40 times on the big screen. One of the most awesome movies ever made. I wish i could watch it again for the First Time. I agree, the passion that Adam has over this gun and to be a 17 year project would absolutely make me want to see the movie.
Congrats Adam, so beautiful! I always picture some little private theatre in your house where you put your 10 favorite models/replicas/costumes of the month into display for you, your family and your friends. But I can almost not watch it when you get so excited and start to wiggle around and almost throw down the old work-in-progress model :) Someone needs to get in there and get everything out of your way when you start being superhappy! keep up the good work!
That thing rocks. As a fan of the film myself, I gotta say I'd love to have a replica of the ZF-1 on a shelf somewhere everybody could see it. Well done, sir.
Oh, man! That is a beautiful prop! Adam says he is a serial skill collector. I wonder just how many different disciplines were needed to put that together. Metal work, fiberglass, casting, electrionics, etc... Gorgeous!
I'm going to see The Fifth Element in theaters today, I'm so excited!!! It's literally one of my favorite movies. I really wish I could like this video multiple times!
Finnaly! Thank you guys for this, I've been asking for awhile and was super curious. There were some shots of a couple of them in the google street view of the cave and it had been forever since we got any updates. It looks awesome!
The fifth element is a movie that I still enjoy every time I watch it. A truly epic film for scifi nerds. They absolutely nailed the creation of the world in that film as well as so many other aspects of the environment.
Bravo - that is one of my top movies and will always be - I have the dvd and the blueray . . . I have been considering building a ZF-1 for myself for a long time.
I like Adam's comment about the bedside table. When I've finished a model kit, I'll display it on the coffee table for a few weeks where I can easily get a good look at it, before relegating it to the display cabinet.
thank you for not just this but Mythbusters and all the work you've done, people like you are the reason the best of people comes out and we just get to bulid thanks again to you and your crew
Next time on Adam Savage's 17 Year Builds... If they ever seriously made a motorized costume prop of the ZF-1 that just deploys and closes...I'd buy it. I don't care how much it costs!
Just AWESOME. I wish I could have both, be married and be into my hobbies as much as you are - at the same time. But really an awesome build and thank you for sharing it. Most inspiring!
Many years ago I did a car stereo system for one of the guys who made all of these guns. The firing one was indeed based on an AK 47 as I believe were most of the others, I got to hold various ones when. I delivered his car back to Pinewood studios. He also made a gun for the bond movie where Bond bungy jumps off a dam and fires a gun with a grappling hook on it. That was made from a paintball pistol. Very interesting man and incredibly creative.
That is awesome! I've been wanting to make one of those since I first watched the movie too, but never really had the resources to do it, so it's really awesome to see that Adam's finished his!
if only I could afford a collection of my favorite film firearms..imagine all your favorites displayed in a case or on a big beautiful plaque... gratz for finally finishing Adam!
He already built something pretty similar for the Blade Runner pistol. Yeah, I know it's not actually a movie prop, but aside from collecting all the various bits it seems kind of trivial
Oh god that is Amazing! I loved the ZF-1 from the moment I saw it in the movie, such an amazing prop! 17 years getting it right is quiet the story Adam, but it leaves the question... what will your next long term project be?
Do you think the Fifth Element holds up as a film?
Absofreakinloutely!
Yes, Me and one of my friends have even talked about what it could have looked like if it was made fifteen years later then it was. Would they have incorporated newer technologies like touch screens in the film.
Super green!!!
Hell yeah! I’m watching it right now! It totally holds up😁👍
Woodstrock15 bzzz! BZZZZZZZZ!!!!😁👍
" It's light. Handle's adjustable for easy carrying, good for righties and lefties. Breaks down into four parts, undetectable by x-ray, ideal for quick, discreet interventions. A word on firepower. @Sammy R. Naturally, of course.
@Sammy R. Don't touch that.
@Sam Please, press it and tell us the result.
Four stones will give you four crates. Zero stones, ZERO CRATES!
@@rpersenBeat me to it!!🤣
"Sir are you human?", "Negative, I am a meat popsicle"
Damn I love that movie.
As a fan, as a HUGE FAN....this makes me so incredibly happy to see that model go from rough arpund the edges to finally a finished piece. Great stuff.
Now Adam needs to cosplay as Zorg with that at the next Comic Con.
How he can go incognito wearing that is what i would like to see XD
I think a Mangalore would do more justice to that gun ^_^
Mangalore cosplay needs to happen!
The Shadow Broker YES!! that would be great!!
The Shadow Broker gimme the cashhhhh XD
The silence at 0:13 really took me off guard. Pretty sure it is not meant to be complete silence.
I thought my phone was messing up
Silent movie, you know because back then they didn't have talkies! Not sure they were that successful in the joke.
I was expecting some piano ragtime to accompany the silent footage.
I think it's because of copyrighted music (which is allowed on the actual show, but not on youtube) - they would have had to silence the track if they couldn't modify the original footage for whatever reason. This is a surprisingly common problem! If they left the music in, the video would be taken down.
Though you'd think they could afford to license something simple that wouldn't be flagged.
The ZF-1 is easily my favorite movie gun of all time. Awesome job as always Adam, it's good to see your hard work pay off.
is there supposed to be sound in the flashback?
Audio recording wasn't invented when they filmed the flashback.
I distinctly heard a player piano (in my head).
That's a product of not watching you're video before you upload it.
RecluseAllKnight And this is the product of not reading YOUR comment before posting?
No. The editing on these videos is awful. They just wanted to establish the flashback. But got cute with it and kept it up too long.
And now... time for Adam to start designing a collapsing/folding one
Ahhh, Fifth Element, Easily one of the greatest Sci-Fi films in history.
Finally I remember watching the first one when it came out happy to finally see it done
Clearly this video wasn't Tested, because that flashback was purely Chaplin-era.
FfejTball XD
I was curious about the silence too
FfejTball its because it got copyright clamed so they took it out
I'm so happy Adam. The Fifth Element has to be my favourite sci-fi movie of all time. I will watch it every year at least 5 times a year. Obsessed with it.
That prop I think is the most recognizable in recent history. I loved the movie, and I loved the zorg gun. well done Adam!
Adam is such a nerd, and he's so passionate about it. God bless this guy, he's so awesome.
This movie has so many iconic props, costumes and scenes. The ZF-1, the 'thermal bandage' outfit that Leeloo wore, the 'hallway' hat, Ruby Rod's weird outfits, The Diva Dance, Leeloo's reconstruction from just her hand.
I could watch Adam Savage build replicas, all day, every day. That guy is THE geek non-plus ultra
Adam is a true geek (as if we didn't already know that). Seventeen years working on one model. Well done!!!
Yay, keeping up the tradition of sound problems.
Maybe tested premium members get sound :P
lol
ashahahaha
Even worse, I believe it was intentional...
I am so glad you finished it! I remember pausing my vhs to see it in detail and see if i could make it out paper and glue haha. One of my favorite movie props.
Adam should invite Gary Oldman
*_EVERYONE!!!_*
No, just Gary.
Gary Oldman hasn't got time for this Mickey Mouse bullshit!
I LOOOOVE Mozart!
Heh. ISWYDT... although he actually likely does, and would probably be jazzed to come visit Adam...
I love how Adam is genuinely excited to talk about his props and this stuff... It's not acted excitment, he really loves this stuff
If I hadn't already seen The Fifth Element multiple times, seeing this video would make me really excited to seek it out.
Who's watching this without having seen the film?
Me. And now I might go watch it. Know nothing about it, really
Damn, I envy you lol. I'd love to watch Fifth Element for the first time again. It was a mixture of "what the hell is this shit?" and "oh my god this shit is amazing!"
I watched it in 4k the other night. One of my favorites.
ive seen the movie over 75 times. Probably well over 100 times. A year after it was released a local theater opened and showed "old" movies for $00.25. Yep, 25 cents, just to get people in the doors. watched it again the other night. always has a place in my heart.
Talk about a labor of love! 17 years! Great result! Supergreen!
I feel like I have been waiting 17 years for this too Adam. ;) Looks great!
Adam, if you take the ZF-1 to comic con, dont forget your multipass. 😉
Blows my mind the level of skill and time it takes to replicate a movie prop so accurately!

Such a treat, this video comming out of nowhere. Amazing project and great how it turned out.
Always amazed to see when Adam finishes something after such a long time.
I'm going to see The Fifth Element in theaters today, I'm so excited!!! It's literally one of my favorite movies. I really wish I could like this video multiple times!
Wow that was something I didn't expect to see today. I am so happy to see the ZF-1 done! I remember that first tested video!
Yes! Finally! I snuck away from my chores risking trouble with my fiancé to watch this. It is glorious.
I was here for the first video. Really cool to see it finished. Great job Adam, and Norm.
Finnaly! Thank you guys for this, I've been asking for awhile and was super curious. There were some shots of a couple of them in the google street view of the cave and it had been forever since we got any updates. It looks awesome!

Bravo - that is one of my top movies and will always be - I have the dvd and the blueray . . . I have been considering building a ZF-1 for myself for a long time.
Tested is at its best when we see Adams passion, which is matched by ours , thanks
I like Adam's comment about the bedside table. When I've finished a model kit, I'll display it on the coffee table for a few weeks where I can easily get a good look at it, before relegating it to the display cabinet.
the zf1 video was actually the first tested video i have ever seen...
Oh and it is called "Das fünfte Element" in german
thank you for not just this but Mythbusters and all the work you've done, people like you are the reason the best of people comes out and we just get to bulid thanks again to you and your crew
god adam really shows dedication to his projects!
I like updates like this, where stuff is finished. it gives a sense of closure. also, that prop is epic!
Great item from one of my all-time favorite films. Looks great!
AS ALWAYS - COMPLETELY AMAZING
it's so beautiful!
Congrats, Adam! She's BEAUTIFUL!!
"You're a monster, Zorg."
"I know."
Next time on Adam Savage's 17 Year Builds...
If they ever seriously made a motorized costume prop of the ZF-1 that just deploys and closes...I'd buy it. I don't care how much it costs!
finally!! awesome Adam! I've been waiting for this to be done
YES! This is awesome. Fifth Element is one of my all time favorites... Good job!
I forgot about this prop! So coool to see it finished
Adam well done. amazing end to a decade of getting it perfect. looks incredible.
that'd awesome. congratulations on finishing it. looks amazing.
It's beautiful. Adam has now built what I consider to be the two best looking Movie firearms ever. Just an amazing man. Thank you all at tested.
Just plain awesome. You did Zorg proud.
Thank God there are people like this in the world. It so amazing.
Gorgeous as all hell. Mighty fine work. Love that movie, and the ZF-1 was my favorite weapon from it. To see it actually built, wow. Well done.
Happy 17th birthday ZF-1 and congrats to Adam that looks amazing!
These "Not a one day build" videos are amazing, like the Blade Runner gun videos.
Oh hell... this is probably my favorite thing I have seen adam make. So damn cool!
Congrats Adam! The work really payed off.
Loving the highly dramatic pause in the beginning!
Can't wait to see what prop you obsess about next, Adam! Cheers
"Das fünfte Element". I love this movie and Adam´s prop making. Fantastic.
Greetings from Germany :D
Just AWESOME. I wish I could have both, be married and be into my hobbies as much as you are - at the same time. But really an awesome build and thank you for sharing it. Most inspiring!
This is great..love the follow up. Congratulations Adam Job well
He seems so proud and happy... It makes me depressed that I'm not that happy or proud.. DAMN YOU ADAM!
That's what fandom is about! Well Done!
I've been waiting 17 years to finally see his finished product.
Congratulations for completing the ZF-1 gun!
Awesome story and dedication!
what the heck... why does adam not have a Netflix series on all this cool stuff!! love it, keep up the awesome work!
Glad to see you could finally complete this!
Was waiting for *button* BSSSST *rear part goes down*. Would drive me insane.
Fifth Element was and will be forever my favorite

I love this, your hands are a freaking replicator.
Congratulations! Glad you were about to get it the way you wanted Adam. 8)
Holy crap Adam is getting grey! Awesome look at a cool old prop.
Mangalore incongnito next! With ZF1 prop!!!!!!
Yes plz!!! :D
Now that is completed, onto the holy grail that is Leon The Professional's gun case.
He already built something pretty similar for the Blade Runner pistol. Yeah, I know it's not actually a movie prop, but aside from collecting all the various bits it seems kind of trivial
elvishfiend Saw that episode. Definitely gives the viewer an insight of Adam's skills and his quirks when it comes to prop building.
I would love to see more updates like this for some of the other older videos you guys have made with Adam's projects.
The ZF-1 has never looked more beautiful...
That is some spectacular work.
Well done mate! I've being watching for all of your tested years, eagerly awaiting for the result. And here it is; what a beautiful piece. Love it!
I love how he obsesses over this stuff. Nerds are awesome.
Awesome job. Glad this one was finally completed. Looks great!
Oh god that is Amazing! I loved the ZF-1 from the moment I saw it in the movie, such an amazing prop! 17 years getting it right is quiet the story Adam, but it leaves the question... what will your next long term project be?
I would go crazy if I had an unfinished project in my workshop for 17 years!
Looks epic, great job, totally worth all the time spent on it!
well it looks incredible congratulations on finishing it!
Been wanting this update for sooooooo long.
Wow, Adam's such a talented guy. Can fabricate just about anything!
Marcel Rulli is an amazing prop builder, no way this could have been done without him, The guy is an insanely talented artist
congratulations adam! it looks amazing.
