Meet Pam Galvez
Pam grew up in the Bronx, and then "Moved on UP to the Upper East Side," thanks to the hard work of my Dominican immigrant mother who was a single mom, determined to provide a better life for my sister and me. Both of her parents hail from the Dominican Republic, and my Dominican family is her endless source of humor and inspiration. “My family is loud, animated, and loves telling jokes at gatherings. My uncle even used to do stand-up for us during family get-togethers!”
Pam’s gifts don’t stop with comedy, she is also a registered nurse.
Pam struggles with severe depression which has caused her to isolate herself and gain a significant amount of weight. Seeking therapy, medication, and professional help was a turning point. She began practicing meditation, prayer, and exercise, and slowly started rebuilding my life. Today, Pam lost over 60 lbs while focusing on her physical and mental health.
In 2021, she decided to take on stand-up comedy to confront my fears head-on, following countless suggestions from friends. The hard work of comedy has been a transformative journey, teaching her to manage anxiety and empowering her to step onto the stage with just a microphone to use her voice for humor and compassion.
