As someone who frequently uses earplugs getting one stuck on an ear has always been one of my fears lol
Had that happen when I was little my grandma put super glue at the end of a really skinny marker glued it to the ear plug and pulled it out

A buddy of mine went thru the last 40 years thinking he was deaf in one ear. All the doctors told him so. Recently he saw another doctor that removed a wad of cotton from that ear. Hearing came back immediately. A true medical genius effecting a miracle cure.
Dumb doctors didn't even bother looking inside the ear

On a serious note........
If you ever have a bug fly or crawl into your ear.
Try going into a dark quiet room and shine a flashlight into the ear.
The insect will most likely move to the light and can then be dealt with WITHOUT smashing it up inside your ear.
When you ride motorcycles at night you deal with LOTS of bugs........

I've had this problem several times as I live in a rural farming town on a 3 acre homestead so loads of bugs, but not a single person(including doctors)as to how to make it easier to get said bug out....until your comment.

My dad, in WWII, used jelly beans once as ear plugs. He then couldn't get them out and had to go to the medic.

The irony is many doctors and nurses use earplugs when they sleep during the day after a night shift.
Had this happen to me in the Army. I also had the tip of my earbud come off and had to go to urgent care to get it removed. Very unpleasant feeling and depending on how far in it goes it can effect your equilibrium.
The rubber of the plugs kinda stick to the skin inside the ear if left long enough. Then its really painful to get it out
Had a pair of skullcandy ear buds and the damn skull logo fell of and somehow ended up in my ear. Only found that out because my doctor thought I had a hole in my eardrum while doing a routine check up. up.
Use a powerful vacuum with hose to get q-tip piece out without hurting ear.

Our earplugs on the packaging made sure to say no to put them in ears.
Well it's the Army. If it were the Marines, he'd be pulling a crayon out the guy was save for a snack later.
My husband (then boyfriend) got a moth in his ear. He was in agony, and we had to go the ER, we tried everything to get it out (He didn't have insurance soooo going to the ER was a big deal. When he sliced his hand open, he had me sew it shut.) The triage nurse pulled it out, shined the flashlight in, and commented that he could see all the way to the other side. The nurse and I laughed and laughed. Hubby wasn't happy. He wasn't charged, so there was that.
What was really funny about is just a few days before we were talking about reincarnation, and he mentioned how awful it would be to come back as a moth. (We just watched Silence of the Lambs) I was like damn, you really pissed the ancestors off. I won't make that mistake.

For a foot doctor u know more complex ear related words than my ear doctor
I’ve never once injured my eardrum using q-tips. If you feel pressure in your ear when using them, just stop going back that far. Just be gentle it isn’t rocket science to not burst your own eardrum
And I know at least 1000 other people that say the same thing. 1001 if you count me!! Quest 1 moron did it so they have to make the legal disclaimer.
Yeah, im not sure how else to clean my ears anyway. I think these doctors just want more money for ear cleaning visits.

Don’t worry about preserving your hearing with earplugs, just focus on not damaging the tympanic membrane. You’ll be stone cold deaf, but at least your tympanic membrane will be fine.

As a soldier I can confirm that this is top tear army medical practice
My son in law had stage 4 cancer. He was 24. I could literally SEE the tumors on his torso one day when he took his shirt off. I about pooped my pants when I saw them!! I knew IMMEDIATELY what I was seeing! They were all bilateral and hard as boulders.
I begged him that day to go see my dr. He didn’t have reg insurance but agreed to see the army doctor. The army doctor told him it was constipation!!
I don’t think I’ve EVER been more angry at a person in my entire life!!
My SIL was going to accept that diagnosis bc he couldn’t use the toilet… until I said, “duh ! Your poop can’t get past those tumors anymore”!
I physically man handled him to the car. He saw a REAL doctor and within 20 mins was being put in the hospital.
They gave him months to live.

He was scheduled to leave for Africa for a year in 2 weeks when I saw his belly. He would have died over there.
He had 2 children born and a set of twins due in a month.
The military doctors aren’t qualified to diagnose constipation.

I was camping years ago and another kid got a leech deep in his ear, I warmed some water, put a few drops of liquid antiseptic in it and poured that in gently, the leech couldn't get back out of there fast enough. Salt would have done the trick too.

As a former weapons instructor, I can vouch that this happens pretty frequently. I recommend using over the head sound dampeners versus in-ear sound dampeners for this very reason.

As someone who’s eardrums have ruptured, and had to get multiple rounds of tubes, I promise it’s not worth it even if it feels really good

It is true though cotton swabs should not be inserted into ear canal. They can be used on the outside ears though.

We used the old "Christmas tree" style earplugs when I served. No chance of it getting stuck in your ear. Glad this soldier is going to be ok.

I remember one time my little brother was freaking out because he felt something in his ear and then I went to look what was in it and a bug crawled out. It was a traumatizing experience for all of us.
Ive once pulled out an ear plug out of my ear using tweezers once. All I can say is that It felt heavenly especially due to me finally being able to hear properly in that ear

Did you know an ear infection. It can cause more than just pain in the ear. In fact, it can cause swelling in your jaw. Preventing you from chewing.
