First a little backstory. I’m a mixed ethnicity individual. I’ve been confused for many races over the course of my 29 years on this planet but I’m literally Caucasian and African American. Usually it can be figured out but the difference with me is my father is the Caucasian so therefore my hair is straight. I’m originally from Texas and am usually confused for being Mexican. But now I live in Massachusetts and I’ve never had an issue with anyone concerning my race, until this day.

That lady was definitely the one trying to actually kidnap OPs son. The lie to the police officer about the son being her grandchild. The two other ladies who backed her up. The way their faces went pale when they heard about the cameras

What a genuinely terrifying situation. Holy shit. I am glad the situation was sorted properly, as I would have probably gotten violent if someone attempted to kidnap my child right in front of me.

But they do know if that had happened with us thing would have gone very bad for others, I just remove the problem. I do know that what is not a good way to deal with something like that, but I lose it quickly. My wife and kids have worked with me to try to help me change. but I still man not good at it :(
You know the child was trying to get back to his dad. And also when his mom arrived he screamed “ MAMA HELP!” I mean surely that would be enough to prove that this is their child. Like didn’t this lady notice? I am so happy that he pressed charges against this psycho of a lady

When you take your kid to the park be prepared for looks and possibly having the police called on you. It's happened to a lot of men because for some reason men with children are seen as creepy or incapable.

I'm so glad that the man/ maybe the wife pressed charges, because lady 1 almost KIDNAPPED THE KID. Also, you are SO right. The kid literally was screaming that the op was his father, which that alone should get other witnesses on the op's side.
Correction: She DID "kidnap" the child. The moment she laid hands on him and took one step with him away from his father the kidnap was in process. Doesn't need a successful conclusion.
I am 65 and yes, have a 4y/o daughter. I had something similar but not as dramatic in a Publix near my home. They have a cop there all the time and I walked directly to him and told him a lady, I pointed to her was harassing me and my daughter. He asked her outside and after 2 minutes she was crying but refused to apologize. I asked the policeman to let her go as she would make the whole jail miserable. The Publix cashier who knew us came over and told the cop I came with my daughter all the time and that she knew my wife. The cop really wanted to charge her I think because he was black and knew how I felt.
The stepdad is well within his right to press charges, they boy may not have his blood but he still cares for him as if her were his own, like he mentioned earlier

A similar thing happened to me. I’m light skinned, with blue eyes and blonde hair. I got that from my mom. My dad, stepmom and little brother are all tan, with dark eyes and hair. Once in a store with my stepmom, a lady came up to me and tried to tell me to come with her. I said no, obviously, and walked back to my stepmom with the item she asked me to grab. The lady followed me and tried to pull me away, until (while hugging my stepmom as tightly as I could) started yelling that I wasn’t going to go with her and that I didn’t know her. She ran as fast as she could since people started to stare lol

Yeah, that woman kept changing up her story, first she says she was trying to save the child to find his parents, then she says the child was hers, then when the mother got there, she spoke to the mother like she was the hero saving the mother’s son, then again claimed the child was hers and wasn’t the mother’s despite just claiming she “saved her son”, etc. It was absolutely an attempted kidnapping, but not by the father in any case.

As this was all caught on video and in the presence of the officer, his desire to "press charges" is irrelevant. You do not press charges. The government presses charges. And when they have enough evidence that they don't need your witness testimony, they can go forward with those charges without your permission or desire.

Wow, I just had a flashback from when my daughter was 2, and same thing happened. She had gotten out of the yard somehow, where her babysitter lived. I was leaving to go to work, and wanted to say goodbye to her and my other child. Couldn't find her and ran outside to see if she was in the yard, not there. Ran down the street looking for her, while my aunt (babysitter) looked the other way of the street. Spotted her being led away crying by some woman. I screamed for the woman to stop, that was my baby, but she ignored me. My child heard my voice, and started crying harder, screaming mama at the top of her lungs, and trying to free herself from the woman. I stopped the woman, and told her to give me back my child, but she wouldn't. Claiming that she found my child wandering alone, and that she wasn't mine. At this point, I was about to lose it, my child is literally grabbing my leg to loosen herself from the woman. I said how could she doubt that child wasn't mine, when she was my literal mini-me?? I grabbed my child from the woman and ran away, saying that I was going to call the police if she followed me. She ran the other way. I consoled my daughter, and told my aunt to make sure the door was locked, in the event the woman had pried the gate open. How else was a toddler be able to open the gate? I had locked it on my way in.....to have to go through this is scary.

Not only that but mixed kids exist. My mom is black and my dad is white, I was born with a light skin tone, people often doubted my mom was my actual biological mom 🤦
To be fair, most countries in Europe and and the U.S in America have a white majority by leaps and bounds, last time I checked the Ethnic distribution percentages for the U.S, the balance was I think 76% White to 16% Black and 8% everything else, though these numbers have like changed since then, so the odds of being exposed to a mixed ethnicity family is decently low, even factoring in adoption. Thus making misunderstandings decently likely.
With that said, those ladies were just plainly kidnappers and thought OP was an easy mark due to the ethnic discrepancies between him and his stepson, glad to see they were punished and that OP didn't catch any bad flak from it.
Yeah I was thinking of the adopting thing too. Like it would be completely possible for him to have actually been a Mexican, and his wife to be a Mexican, and for the both to have an adopted white child this is not outside the realm of possibilities.
Also Spain ... which is white in skin majority , not every spanish speaking people = 100% mexican

Yes file charges because she was telling a story that the child was her grandson and this non truthful item could have caused this child to be separated from his family if the mom couldn't have come to the store. Lady could have told someone that she believed the boy was in trouble rather than grab him and run for the door.
To add to this her claiming the kid is her grandson shows she had no intention of actually helping the child and was actually trying to kidnap the child by falsely claiming guardianship of the child

An atttempt to abuse the privilege and automatic trust women get in the west over men, something criminal women use often.
The funny thing about the first story is the fact that the psycho woman didn't give up and basically crapped on herself in this situation. The dad is the hero and the three crazy women are the jerks. I also think Lady #1 might have actually been trying to kidnap the kid.

the same thing happened when i was with my nephew, i look pretty young but this damn woman picked him up and began running when i told her i was his uncle, i was so furious i grabbed her collar and dragged her back so i could hold him again, the staff were no help calling police to say i was "abusing" the woman and "kidnapping" a child, my sister (his mother) was in the shop next door getting her nails and stuff done for her birthday, when the police arrived i explained it all to them and showed them all the pictures i have with him but they didn't believe me either, one of the officers tried to take him out of my arms and he began screaming and punched the officer (luckily he was only 4 at the time so no charges or anything) my sister heard his screams and rushed over half way through her nail job (which caused the lady doing her nails to accidentally cut into her) she screamed at them and took him back, the woman said she should be happy she "saved" my nephew from me and the staff said that i was "abusing him and the woman" and the officer said he was detaining me for child endangerment and kidnapping, my sister reitterated "HE'S MY BROTHER AND MY SONS UNCLE" so it was at that point I called the police and told them an officer was trying to kidnap my nephew, a few minutes passed and a senior cunstable came in seeing the comotion, he took the officer asside and asked if he checked the cameras for the shopping center yet, the officer said no and told the senior i assulted him. i told the senior to check the cameras and you'll see through ALL OF THEIR LIES, so he did. when he came back he apologised and noticed my sisters toe was bleeding from the cut, the senior cunstable helped me press charges against everyone there including the officer who was discharged for the incident while the lady was charged with kidnapping, child endangerment and assult (she had given me a pretty bad black eye and the senior counted my sisters cut as her fault as well) while everyone else was charged for false police reports.
This is why i am so affraid to take my nephew anywhere on my own anymore, i felt even worse since the incident had messed up my sisters birthday AND still gives my nephew nightmares to this day .

Not if nobody intervenes, or everyone who does intervene takes the side of the female claiming the male is a kidnapper, which neither option would surprise me at all. People tend to believe the female, and all logic goes out the window for something like this. Plus, those other ladies likely knew the one trying to kidnap the child and were helping her while knowing that she was lying.

As a black woman with a white family there’s been a few instances where I’ve been out with my nieces at a park or gone shopping with them and have been questioned whether or not they’re mine - it’s horrible honestly. I’m just glad that we lived in a somewhat small town where a lot of people begin to recognise you, otherwise we could’ve been in worse situations.
Actually, I'm afraid it might be the opposite. In a big city, it's too busy and there are too many people to care. This kind of stuff mostly happens in small towns where people feel comfortable nosing into other people's business. Noone know anyone or cares in a big city.

A similar case happened in Vietnam last year. A lady shouted out that the father was "kidnapping" his own son when his son was crying, and a drunk guy assaulted the father and ended up killing him.

The moment she grabbed my kid, I have the right to act in any manner to get my kid back and to safety. Broken arm and nose sounds about right when retrieving the child.

@@gabrote42 It wouldn't be murder stopping kidnappers or child traffickers. It would be self defense, specifically of your kid. Killing someone attempting to steal your child is absolutely reasonable force. Nor would any parent worth their salt not use any means and the quickest means to save said child, regardless of the literal trafficker's safety.
Killing is only murder when it's illegal. Hence why currently abortion isn't considered murder.

@@gabrote42 And most parents would prefer a living breathing safe child over the possibility of a murder charge. No good parent would think about "Okay I have to stop this person in a specific way so I don't harm the evil fucking kidnapper that may sex traffic my child to a pedo.". No they'd be instinctive and quick to react, doing whatever is the safest and fastest way, and most likely to succeed in turn, of getting their kid back. Generally that means taking the other one out.
Killing in self defense isn't bad. Otherwise the WW2 would of never of been won by the right people and we'd all be speaking German.
I'm not going to wonder how the other KIDNAPPER is doing and their mental health state. Just like I won't think about the r@pists's possible poor mental health that causes them to assault people. What bothers me is that she tried to run the kid out of the store....THAT'S ACTUAL KIDNAPPING. If she was really concerned, she would have screamed for a manager.

Glad you pressed charges. A lot of people would have just said let bygones be bygones, but people need to be held accountable in these situations. The 'he's my grandson" lady should be prosecuted for providing false information to a police officer, which I think in Massachusetts is a felony.
Something like that happened to me when I was a kid. My dad is very Latino, and my mom is a very caucasian Latina, I inherited my traits from my mom. I got lost in a mall (I was a firework, not my parent's fault), and when my dad showed up wanting to claim me, the mall cops had trouble believing he was really my dad. This went on until my mom showed up. Can't blame the cops, they were being cautious. I was kiddie leashed from then on.
Not releasing s lost child as a form of authority to someone who doesnt have proof is one thing. The mall cops did probably the right thing.

Have a picture on your phone or in your wallet- dated- of you and your child. Up to date enough they are recognizably the same child but long enough back to establish history.

She was probably going to use the kid for human trafficking sadly. The way she was so persistent on the kid being her "grandson", the way she tried to just run out of the store instead of "warning" the workers, and the two other ladies backing her up when they saw nothing. Those two were probably in on it if they were human traffickers.

I am also of mixed race and only experienced once incident of confusion on a subway in NY... but I don't remember much because I fell asleep. Maybe I leaned on some random woman and my mom didn't like her tone when she told me to get off. I just remember hearing my mother saying, "... because she's my daughter!" If you killed only the first hag, you could probably get away with self defense. Even if you couldn't, it could be a type of manslaught-say she died because you shoved her and she hit her head-or at the most, 2nd degree murder because it reactionary and not premeditated.
If this happened to me, she would need to be hospitalized as soon as she started running.
You would never see the inside of a cell for that. Protecting ones self/family and property with force is completely legal. As it should be.

You can shoot sometime for attempting to physically harm you. So there is almost no chance, you would be charged with anything.

The fact charges were pressed made this so very beautiful. It's scary because the first lady was clearly trying to kidnap him. And this is something that can happen so easily. Somehow the thought of a guy having a kid is baffling to these people. She was probably in some trafficking ring, I'm so glad you were able to keep your son safe.

There has been a disturbing trend over the last number of years where it is clear that the people making up the lies believe that the story will become the truth simply because they say it is.

The woman was trying to kidnap the child, no rational individual would do what she did, but she saw an opportunity she thought she could use to get away with kidnapping the kid. That's why she lied, that's why she got others to back her up, that's why she used the racial stereotypes. Any normal rational individual wouldn't of thought twice about this, they may of asked the child where his parents were, but that would of got the child to respond by indicating at his father, and clearing up any concern. Normal people don't think racially like this, normal people can read social ques, normal people don't rush to judgment. This was a 100% an intentional attempt to kidnap the child.

It's funny how in the first story the lady claim that the dad is trying to kidnapped his own son because their skin tone is different. All of my family member have brown skin, but my little sister somehow have skin tone a kin to Chinese. If this lady is in my country, this kind of incident will surely happened quite often, since it's not rare to see a child that have a different skin tone as their parents.

Surprisingly the Encanto fandom is a good example of people who seem to think it’s impossible for kids to have different skin tones compared to their parents, Pepa Madrigal is a prime example of that, it was made extremely clear that her, Julieta, and Bruno are triplets, but people have it in their heads that Alma cheated. Genetics can pop up at any time, even simple stuff like red hair, not a single living human in my family is ginger, but I am, guess where I got it from? My dad’s mom (she passed away due to cancer not too long before I was born)

While there are a lot of situations where I'm straight up against people pressing charges, these 2 stories are not among them. I don't care if there is a misunderstanding. Knowingly giving a false police report after attempted kidnapping and assault leaves no room for sympathy. Those people are dangerous and at the bare minimum need mental counselling, which they were hopefully provided during their time in prison.
I’d press every charge I could if someone tried to take my child bc of different skin tones. I may not like children, but I am *very* overprotective over those I call my own and I think of my cats and guinea pig as my own sons. If anyone touched my babies, I’d rain hell on them.

There would have been charges, and she would have already been injured when the police arrived. I know that’s not a way to defuse the situation, but at the “she ran for the door and my son was screaming and she wouldn’t let go of him” part, I was full of rage. I was honestly shocked when she still had ahold of the kid when the police showed up-I would have already physically reclaimed my child

I fear this happening to me with my kids. I'm half native American, brown hair, brown eyes with tan skin. My kids are blonde hair and green/blue eyes and very fair skin. I carry recessive genes from my father who also has blonde hair and blue eyes so my kids don't immediately look like mine.
The video here shows a good idea on what you have to do if this happens (hopefully it never happens). A family photo (or several of it) is a good physical evidence, whereas the trust between you and your children also serves as another proof indirectly.
That being said, I think the case in here is a bit extreme...to think there's someone actually that self-entitled... Hopefully this is a lesson for us all to not judge from just appearance alone.
@@renseiryuu my phone is loaded with pictures of me with my family. I constantly have to keep backing up my phone because my wife and I fill it up with videos and photos. So I'm good there. I would just hate to feel that way because I KNOW my kids don't look like me from a passing glance. I don't dwell on it, just something I've thought about.

1. Family photos
2. Your children's trust
3. Other family member's testimony
4. DNA test if it really needed

Anyway, I just hope you don't feel paranoid instead due to your difference in look compared to your children. If it happens, it happens, and you got enough cards to turn the situation around. But no one knows that it will happen to begin with. Don't waste your time worrying about what might not happen... You've already prepared enough, I believe.

That woman was most likely truly trying to kidnap the boy since she tried to get out of the store without asking questions or reporting to the employees or authorities ahead of time. And the other two ladies could have easily been accomplices.

And wait till you read this: The footage during the trial showed that the woman SAW the OP and the boy arrive together and followed then through the parking lot and into the store, so she KNEW they that father and son had come together. Sadly justice was not served in the end, and the scumbags got off with a slap on the wrist.
