    The refs really need to be properly trained on what to do when someone speaks during the rally. Separately, they need to be trained to not just ignore the concerns of the players when they express them. Gaultier clearly expressed the fact that Shorbagy spoke to him, but he is not a native speaker, so unlike, say Nick Matthew, he can't eloquently argue and force the refs to give him a response.

      I think you've got a point here

      I would love to know whether referees review decisions after the match is over; many of the no lets given here were when there was space to play the ball, but the players shot quality would have been affected which is why they stopped. For instance, at 14:04 Shorbagy takes a clearing line that's too close to Gaultier for him take his racket up to the top of a full swing, preventing Gaultier from returning the ball to the back of the court and guaranteeing Shorbagy a winner or stroke at the front of the court.

      M0odez yes, and the same for the one at 18:35 though that one was against elshorbagy. I guess you could argue that the bad calls evened each other out. But ideally they would just make the right calls in the first place.

      Yeah, thankfully the result was unaffected this time; apart from his mental breakdown early on I thought Greg was playing far better in this game. The 18:35 decision was interesting; I think it was a lot closer to a no let. There's actually a lot of space between Greg and the ball (and there would have been more if his clearance wasn't interfered with). Also the positioning of Shorbagy prior to Greg's shot just seems really off to me, almost guaranteeing that the obvious and best shot for Greg to play would lead to interference. I'd give a let only because Greg's drive was side wall before bouncing which killed the quality.

    Would love to have a psychologist look at how Gautier reacts in different situations after interfering with the ref and beforehand

    Does PSA Squash TV plan on hosting Full HD 60FPS content anytime soon?

    • @squashtv
      @squashtv  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Our kit is all built around normal TV specs which is 1080 50i (25fps) so unless we can find a solution to that then not in the near future. Possibly for individual features though, we’ve shot some 250fps super slow stuff before.

    • @IamPANDAMAN8
      @IamPANDAMAN8 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      PSA SQUASHTV would it not be possible to capture 1080p 60fps footage for web viewers (which I presume the majority of your user-base uses) and then downscale it for TV? If 1080p 60fps would be a regular feature, I would definitely get a PSA Squash TV subscription - I believe it would add a lot to a fast paced spot such as squash! Hope you'll take it into consideration.

    Any advice to cope with the mental state that Gaultier encounter during the 1-6 situation?

      Kan Chern Hann Try to play a long rally, as long as possible, after something frustrating to clear your head.

      Don't let the points run away from you in a rush, try to regain your composure between points, don't let it turn into a river.

    Harsh no let on Shorbagy at 10-10, was it a makeup call? (Do video refs do makeup calls?)

    • @watching99134
      @watching99134 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes (to your first question), or just being consistent (considering another bad no let ended the game).

      I think elshorbagy might have jammed his racket in before it touches the floor. I might be wrong, need a really slow mo to see it

  • @TheHilarious91

    Elshorbagy is a dirty player, trying to block out with his body and footwork on so many occasions, it runs in the family. Refs decisions are all crap, all against gaultier. I'm glad that Greg came through all those mentally, he's a better player. Class is forever.

      It was interesting to see the shift in psychological momentum, also the (bad) no let calls made it unusual imo.

    I don't like the current state of refereeing. It's like they have decided that you must try to play the ball regardless of the interference now. That is leaving the game exposed to more deliberate interference as it always helps the player who is in the way. I would rather there be more lets than having points get awarded for managing to get in the way of an easily retrievable ball. Not a good idea at all.
