He reached out with more information to ppl, and made us more engaged, in 20 minutes than a bozo would do in two 1h long seminars. The art of innovation? I’d add the art of presenting to that.. What a man!
This is one of the best presentations I have ever seen. I love his humor, his control of the crowd, and the overarching message. I've watching this sooo many time's in order to absorb some of Guy's skills :) Cheers!
Here is my understanding and summary for this lecture: The art of innovation is about making meaning and not only making money. In this lecture, he clarifies the air around the concept of innovation with examples of companies from Apple to Microsoft and how they were able to become successful by making meaning. He then talks about how one must select their mission statement which is something not very lofty but meaningful, citing examples from Wendy's, FedEx and Nike. The third idea he propounds is how to jump your limitations. For this the organisations have to examine what benefits they provide and not what they do, ie they need to jump the curve. Great products have to be intelligent, complete, empowering and elegant. He further mentions about how to start with positioning and branding but adjust as per customers. Innovative product launches must not be afraid to polarize people as great products are either loved or hated. The next mantra is 'churn baby churn' ie innovation must involve updating of products. Innovators must find a niche where they are unique and valued. He lastly talks about how to perfect the pitch (10 slides, 20 mins, 30 points rule).
You are good at summarising the video but one point I differ. That’s the mantra tied to mission. I believe mantra is something like tactic of the business while mission is one that explain how you are trying to achieve your vision. Again mantra is not vision as well as somewhere he referee this close to vision of the company
21 minutes well spent. I don't remember the last time I was so glued to my screen without missing a beat. This Guy has a unique gift of resonating with his audience no matter the demographic.

I’ve been in a rut, afraid to fail with some inventions, focusing on perfection , this talk has regenerated my tenacity and I cannot express enough my gratefulness
I first listened to this many years ago and started building the company I run based off this advice, seeing that the technology I was trying to bring on board was nascent; Today I have an amazing company that runs six amazing solutions for a variety of businesses in my country - gearing to roll out to more countries starting 2025! Amazing!
I came here to let everyone know that Lex Fridman has finally interviewed Yaron Brook. Of course after I started watching Guy, I had to watch this entire video and now want to see more of him. Guy worked on Apple products so there is a natural link to Yaron Brook. When Yaron gives a talk he almost always holds up his iPhone and says that he is holding a super-computer in his hand and that it adds much more value to his life than the mere dollars that he parted with to buy it.
It’s rare I come around from a Ted Talk amazed by the amount of value I got from that. Delivered in a quick, funny and effective way - I wanted to learn about innovation, and I did! Definitely will be looking to Guy some more
Superb Innovation.. Starts from Meaning=Mantra=Deep= jump to next curve=dont worry be crappy=100 flowers blossom=perfect pitch and the best one was about BOZOS..
Wow! What a motivational and inspiring speech. Not only for business, but also for your daily life. We all have to make meaning to change the life of others and in fact to change the world and make it a better place to live in. I would love to be able to see Mr. Kawasaki live on stage in Belgium. Wish all the viewers an inspiring moment watching this great speaker! Also a big fan of Canva! :)

@@vittbris4412 Don't mix invention with innovation, that's not what innovation is. To innovate is to use a concept in new ways or to combine concepts, that is being innovative.
@@orion9k there are many different approaches to innovations. An "incremental innovation"(as you suggest in your first comment, or as I called it a complementation) would be the combination of existing technology on top of already existing technologic infrastructure (which has effects of locks-in and path dependency). Innovation in itself, as concept, should not be understood as only entwined with technology, thats shortcoming. Innovation, as concept, is "the jump"(as Guy describes in the video). Its the response to a problem(see climate change) or to a demand (see the ice factory example), or both (as all levels societal transformation in light of climate change challanges). Innovation is therefore social, economical, political, philosophical and also technological! And all together, hopefully :) This is a very short and poor explanation, but in my field, we have agreed to look at it this way, hope it is of any help.

Very important innovation advice. "Great innovation occurs when you don't limit yourself and you think to the next curve..."
"The art of the start" is more valuable than 80% of all business books present in the market
When you mix between humor and content, it delivers outstanding talk tbh.

I can agree
