Hands down the best TED talk I’ve ever seen and I’ve seen countless ones in University. My dad was also a lecturer up until his passing, so I was able to notice how excellent this speaker was. His humor, timing of his humor, his genuinity…. Outstanding! Also good that it was short and sweet. 🎉❤

Right. And when you're doing something you love, in the "flow" mental state, you lose track of time but you're completely engaged. It's a priceless feeling. When people say, "Time flies when you're having fun," it might be nice to stop them and remind them, no -- time flies regardless, but we feel happier about it when we're living up to our potential.

So glad that this video comes to me at the perfect timing! But, I have feeling bored beyond I can tolerate. There is no Fun, no excitement and no enthusiasm. No Fire in the belly. Time to Change! Hi Maureen. Thanks for saying hi and delighted you enjoyed it. How you ended up watching it researching the history of swimming pools is hilarious... got to love the weird rabbit holes we all fall down!!
ok! i loved this presentation... in fact i am going to challenge myself to at least do one thing a day for a week.., time pass so easily and its only then that we realize that i should have enjoyed the moment..
In 2014 my husband died unexpectedly a few months before my 50th birthday. I decided that for the next year I was going to do something new to me each month to stop me wallowing/stagnating. 2022 and I'm still doing it and can't see me stopping.

lovely to hear. I really do think the brin needs to be exercised like any muscle. Regularly doing that in small ways, pointlessly maybe, playfully. what better way to deal with artists block? just enter flow in other ways. Tx for the comment
I had this thought myself about a month ago. I was thinking about time and how our perception of it is dictated by how much is new or how much is subconscious and routine. Because if we are constantly doing “our routine” the events don’t hold as much meaning in our life so our mind passes over them and we “lose time” in our life. I am definitely doing this, now that I know someone has recorded successful results on what I had previously thought was just a theory I had.
That's the same as what I've been thinking in recent months 😅 we need to constantly update ourselves, out lives, the spaces around us & the people around us. Too much routine created time loops.
This video came in perfect time! Same age but in very bad mode ! I feel so better and i can see more clearly now! Thank you very much i will start my own challenge but in another way✌🏻
That's great to hear - yes, start the challenge however you feel fits with your life. But trust me, new connections and opportunity are everywhere and once you wire yourself for them, it makes a huge difference. Good luck and thanks for the message!
Hi Ken Hughes, I'm on the day 24th. It's been awesome. I didn't think it was easy to begin with. BUt it surely gets me excited to do new things, everyday. I notice, also, my husband ends up doing some new things as well, so he can keep up w/ me. I can send you some of my challenge and pictures if you want to see it :)

Find me on Facebook (Ken Hughes) and by all means send me some pics of your challenges. And share your own experience to inspire others. Wait until you hit day 60+ ! Keep Time Bending!
I love this so much 💜 though I don’t agree with everything because we do need some boundaries in our life but it’s up to each of us to know what those are
This is a wonderful presentation however i do think it is essential to have some barriers in life. Its not good to say yes to everything. However the message that he is sending is great in order to get more out of life.
Agreed. The right barriers and boundries are healthy, but learning to push past those you have self erected and that might be holding ourselves back are the ones that interest me. Good comment
I think you should study Dr john demartini and find out how he's mastered 200 plus arts in so little time .he's got to be one of the world's best at using time well
It was fun presentation ok, and discovering new things can make life more interesting. But eventualy bending time or changing the pin etc.. is not the case as by doing other things, you have to give up from your time invested in other things. So, it is not about time bending but it is having a fullfied life with stop procrastinating and trying to be open for new experiences.
Exactly - it is really about re-framing the time you DO have and optimizing it! Often we let so much of our days go by on social media and Netflix. It is about re-programming yourself to get the most of what we DO have. Thanks for you comment and watching :)
How to bend time: To make time go slower and more productive: Do something unique each day (something you've never done before in your life) Try this for 365 days. Keep track of the unique things you did each day for a year. If you want time to go faster- then make routines and stick to the same same routines, everyday same things so life is very predictable and no surprises.
Great story and speach. But time bending is not able to fit in many people's lives. Me for example..I wake up at 5.00am every day and leave for work at 5.30. I work in construction which is a very physical and tiring job where finding time and new things is not possible to do during your day. Then comes home time which is roughly 18.00 and travel time on top of that then becomes 19.00. By the time I have sat down watched t.v and had my dinner it is 20.00 it is now time to get back in bed to prepare myself to fall asleep by 21.00 to enable me to get the 8 hours sleep i need to prepare me for the next tiring day. Therefore the chance of making new and exciting joys and thrills in my life not possible. Now people may say get a new job then...but it pays the bills and keeps a roof over my head.
The answer to your problem might be to obvious for you to see, you are currently living life to work maybe you should start with your first time-bending experience and start working to live life, even when it envolves changing professions. Good luck!
No,when we change circumstances without changing perspectives we only dig ourselves in deeper. There's "time-bending" and then there's "arguing-for-your-limitations", these are choices we all make every day. It seems to me that your life is the perfect "raw material" with which to conduct this experiment. If you had 15 minutes to listen to this Ted Talk, you have 15 minutes to play with something new: an idea, a conversation, a route to work, mismatched socks....
Simple, honey, you have all that time in the car going to work. do something silly in the car, turn up the radio or CD player and blare some silly song, sing it loudly in the car, and if you stop at a red light, roll down the window so others can smile. or listen to some crazy books or wear a funny shirt to work.
You raise a good point - having bills paid and a roof over your head is a priority. I wonder - are there other jobs for which you're qualified that could also meet those needs? Better paying maybe? Or closer? If not, I understand. Sometimes when I feel like time is tight, I try small things that require barely any extra time - like he mentioned - I'll take a new route home, go for a quick jog as soon as I wake up before jumping in the shower, or even just try a new exotic food next time I'm at the grocery store. I suppose that's what he means by bending time. Not so much forcing a wormhole into existence for extra time where there is none, but even just inviting innovation into that list of everyday stuff you're already doing. I'm terrible about this myself, even though I understand I get the same 24 as everyone else. But when I do it, it's a game-changer for the whole day!
Aunti Laura And there you have it - it is really more a mind-shift in yourself and your approach to the every day than it is a 'list of extra things you need to do'. The initial experiment forces you to 'work that list' but then you re-program yourself to simply make the most and best of every moment
Probably won’t be a popular comment but I love routine and predictability. In my view a boring life is a great life. Nevertheless an interesting take on life.
I think a mix is great and perhaps also depends on each person's personality. Some people get stuck in routines and don't want to be. Others enjoy them. Each to their own I guess. Tx for your comment and reminding us of.the other side
obviously time bending like he describes it is not possible. but the idea he based his concept on i do agree with: it is not the time you bend it is just the memorys. you first have to understand what time is. time is just what we discover, as things do not happen at the same time, but time itself is neither linear or something else and what exists is only the moment. so if you discover the day you are living in the moment and that is probably even close to something linear but if you look back you are most likely to remember a few things that you have done and these are things that are something new or something interesting. something that you would remember. so you can either have memorys 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 or just a few like 1 2 3 4. what i am trying to say is, that if you now have more things happening that you are likely to remember and you look back you are seeing more things than compared to just a few memorys. -> and time is just that things are happening one after another so time looks like it has been longer just like the combination of the numbers 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 is longer than 1 2 3 4. this is the same thing you experience when the first few years of your live feel longer than the rest of your live. it is just because if you look back and add these things in a row it seems to be longer because in the first few years you have discovered more. but like he describes it, you can not bend time.
ThaPleyer Thats it indeed. Time Bending is a metaphor. You are absolutely right. Memories lived are recalled and that is the sense of achievement felt. great comment
I think you are right that while you're on holiday time goes by extremely quickly because you do so many things you don't even realize how time goes by. But I think looking back you will think "wow I did this, and this, and that, so many things, it really was a long week of holiday!". It is not about how fast you feel like time is going by in the moment but about how much you did in the time looking back...
Kind of - I certainly love that movie but it is more than just saying YES to things that come your way. It is about looking for NEW things regardless of your situation. About re-framing your world. But YES -watching that movie I always recommend to others as a catalyst and energising start!
weirdly, i find people with less opportunity and less resources MORE open and less risk averse, more willing to try new things, possibly due to necessity? Something those more well off could and should learn from. So yes, good comment.
Hi there. It's a mindset really. Yes some big things cost money but there are lots of small everyday things you can do that cost nothing. New play, acts of kindness, learn a language on the Internet, meet new people... don't let a barrier (like money or time/job) stop you. look for the 'new' in the everyday... that's the real magic
Thanks man, you are giving me ray of hope in this mundane and routine society, doing new things excite me and i hate routine. Thanks for the Ted talk, it's really helpful
Absolutely - a great movie God! Only issue with that movie is that he said yes to anything, everything, even perhaps unhealthy things for the character. That was a movie so of course it all worked out for him. My point is very much the same - certainly open your eyes to all the opportunity and learn to re-wire a YES attitude, but find the balance somewhere. That said, I do LOVE that movie! Thanks for the reminder - must watch it again!
Cimone Harris Hi Cimone. Tx for your comment! Well I disagree of course. Not everyone can do everything. I agree. But we can all challenge ourselves to step outside our comfort zones a bit more!
The entire concept is exactly what it says. Innovating is introducing something new, in this case to your own life. In order to come up with 365 things you've never done before, you have to be creative.
Thanks for taking this Challange and showing results to us Great inspiration!

Thanks Hannah for your kind words - honoured to be in the same sentance as your late father.
I like the idea of having a new experience every day. It has nothing to do with “bending“ time.
Yes of course the time metaphor part is about perception and what we do with our days. The DO SOMETHING NEW point stands alone also. Absolutely

obviously time bending like he describes it is not possible. but the idea he based his concept on i do agree with: it is not the time you bend it is just the memorys. you first have to understand what time is. time is just what we discover, as things do not happen at the same time, but time itself is neither linear or something else and what exists is only the moment. so if you discover the day you are living in the moment and that is probably even close to something linear but if you look back you are most likely to remember a few things that you have done and these are things that are something new or something interesting. something that you would remember. so you can either have memorys 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 or just a few like 1 2 3 4. what i am trying to say is, that if you now have more things happening that you are likely to remember and you look back you are seeing more things than compared to just a few memorys.
The hotel room is hilarious 😂
It was - but don't worry - I put it back to normal before I left - that would be too cruel to leave for house keeping ;)
The Yes man , ....funny, but kinda true.
I LOVED THIS/ QUITE RIGHT, I AM A MUSICAL ARTIST, TRAINED HYPNOTHERAPIST. YOU CAN EVEN CHANGE YOUR PERCEPTION OF TIME:) XXX
i NEEED to do this
wild sabrina Well just go for it!!
do gamers and geeks have this problem/situation?
I always stayed home after work by giving bad weather as excuse in north Germany. Not anymore !!
wasn't it Billy Connolly that said there's no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothes!
YESMAN
If what they said was true, then why does you week vacation go by extremely quickly. According to his logic the week show pass by extremely slowly.
So it's basically the plot to Yes Man.. :P
Kind of - I certainly love that movie but it is more than just saying YES to things that come your way. It is about looking for NEW things regardless of your situation. About re-framing your world. But YES -watching that movie I always recommend to others as a catalyst and energising start!
Rich people
weirdly, i find people with less opportunity and less resources MORE open and less risk averse, more willing to try new things, possibly due to necessity? Something those more well off could and should learn from. So yes, good comment.
us with playing only is he
gamification is not new, and is not just for people whom attend 1000$ a plate conventions.
Couldn't agree with you more. that's the beautiful thing about play. it is free. for everybody and benefits everyone
yep
,that is how I do it. I create characters for things I want to learn. my mind looks like a soap opera
you wanna bend time and space, take some ecstasy
hahaha Tom... that's certainly one way to shortcut the process! unsure it's sustainable on a day to day basis though! 😁
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE NOTE AND WRITE THE POINT HERE ??? PLEASE
Want to do this but can't afford now, how to do this with daily Job
Ek baat batani he time travel possible he lekin vapas usi time me nhi आ sakte all dharmik story telling US aage ja sakte he piche nhi
Here’s another idea: “Give MusicOfEpirus £1,000,000!”
All we need is 10,000 people to do that. Challenge begins now!
Someone watched Jim Carey's Yesman.
Sorry, but not everyone can do that. And it is best to leave certain things to professionals.
Cimone Harris Hi Cimone. Tx for your comment! Well I disagree of course. Not everyone can do everything. I agree. But we can all challenge ourselves to step outside our comfort zones a bit more!
Thank you for replying! :)
If over 7 billion of 8 billion people in the world can do it though, then it's worthwhile for him to suggest it. Just a thought.
Where was the creativity and innovation in this 20 minutes long talk? Other than a stadnup comedy it looks like.
Rizwan Ahmad well glad it made you smile 😃
The entire concept is exactly what it says. Innovating is introducing something new, in this case to your own life. In order to come up with 365 things you've never done before, you have to be creative.
You LOST me at 10000 Euros for your picture!! Done.
After 4 minutes I gave up
well 4 minutes is better than 1 ... Thanks for the 4 mins anyway 😁
LOL Zumba was created by a man. So was yoga.
Yet in the West who practices these the most? Women.
I didn't know Zumba was created by a man. I never look great in a leotard 🤣
