If you watched the show, she said that, not only did Vince pay the entire cost of her recording a record, he asked her to come out on tour with him.... INSTEAD of her "opening" for him, he put her performance in the MIDDLE of his entire set, in order that people would not be coming and going to their seats in the beginning as most folks do.... CLASS ACT!!! LOVE HER!!!

I never knew Wendy before The Voice and I was voting for her. She's such a talent and I was so happy to see the standing ovation after this performance. I wish they had included her story in this clip that she told about how Vince incorporated her set into the middle of his latest tour & show instead of her being his opening act. He didn't want people looking for their seats when she was singing!!! It made me tear up! What a great man and such a huge talent!!
I didn’t know that story. That speaks volumes about both Wendy’s talent and Vince’s generosity and class.

@stevegillings5563 Wendy Moten deserves the accolades she receives. It was great to have Vince Gill affirm her in this way, a well-earned moment in the spotlight. On the other hand, The Voice did her and many other contestants a great disservice by permitting her to compete at all. Your comment about Girl Named Tom (GNT) is disrespectful, ridiculous, and unfair for lots of reasons.
Wendy has had a professional relationship with Vince Gill and other elites in the music industry for decades. When GNT competed on The Voice, they were amateurs with less than two years' experience. How unfair that The Voice allowed a professional singer with so much experience at an elite level to compete with amateurs and novice professionals, literally denying another exceptional contestant (Joshua Vacanti) a spot in the Finale (five finalists; he ranked sixth).
How incredible that GNT won so many ears and hearts during the competition, so much so that their music was streamed/downloaded seven times more than Wendy Moten, and four times more than all other finalists COMBINED, including Wendy (from digital sales data). GNT's Spotify increased over 9 times during the competition, Wendy's less than 2 times. GNT's Instagram followers increased almost 10 times, Wendy's less than 3 times. Numbers don't lie. Facts are facts. That's why GNT won The Voice and why Wendy was runner-up.
Since winning The Voice in December 2021 and their dad's death in late January 2022, GNT has performed almost 150 concerts (many sold out) in 37 states, in 15+ months, in theatres and arenas seating from 500 to 15+ thousand. They preformed at the Indianapolis 500, debuted at the Grand Old Opry (to a standing ovation), and performed a critically acclaimed concert at the historic Troubadour Theatre in L.A. (where James Taylor and a host of others started their careers). They had #1 Christmas song (new songs). I could go on...
No surprise at all that they weren't invited because they are still working they way up and building their career. By the way, the day after Wendy performed this song, GNT was performing their 64th concert of 2022, just two months before a 22-concert tour with Pentatonix. Not bad for former amateurs and novice professionals! Much love and respect to Wendy, to be sure; but, GNT deserves the same from you and many others because of their integrity, talent, work ethic, and laser focus. Give them a little time, and a little love!
There are things I did not know about GNT. I think Wendy got robbed in that competition and I was pissed off. After what happened I don't watch that show anymore. Sorry about what happened in GNT,'s Family.

All due love and respect to Wendy, but a 35-year veteran performer competing against so many young and far less experienced contestants seems unfair for all concerned. Best wishes to both GNT and Wendy, hoping they continue to succeed with their careers!
