Are we just going to slide by the fact that when Aaron and Belt buckle said pineapple, Nate said “ that’s a weird thing to say” And then Nate backed it up with “Is banana a fruit?“ Are we OK with that?

Years ago I had a job where we had access to the national closed captions directory (in 2008 pry doesn't exist anymore). Around this time my husband and I were watching Jeopardy most nights with dinner. One day I printed that night's closed captions and while my husband made dinner I CRUSHED the answers to the show. He was impressed at first, but then caught on when I started guessing the same wrong answers as the contestants.

So Family Feud had tryouts here in Memphis a couple years ago and we signed up and made it to the auditions. It was me, my wife, her mom, her sister, and her sisters husband. Auditions were basically just playing one round and they wanted us to be really excited for every answer and always cheer on our team. So our question was- Name a state that has two words in it. So my mother-in-law went first with New York, we all cheered and it was on the board, then I did New Jersey, piece of cake were rollin, then my wife’s turn, same question and she blurts out all excited and so confident “LAS VEGAAAAAS!!”….and we all froze in disbelief and it got dead silent except for the few chuckles in the crowd and the buzzer noise. Turns out my wife never paid any attention in geography and is a little bit simple cuz Las Vegas is a city, and needless to say, we never got a call from them asking us to come do the show. But we did take a pic with the Steve Harvey cut out they had there and came away with a hilarious story

I grew up watching “The Price is Right.” Was so excited in 1998 when our family decided to take a trip to LA and I begged for us to go see the show. Stood in line forever. Once inside, the studio and set were so small I was completely disillusioned. And apparently I wasn’t nearly obnoxious enough to get picked as a contestant. I’ve rarely watched it since. Loved this episode with all the game show trivia - thanks, guys!!!

Nate, you're a fan of Seinfeld Show, so maybe you can answer this. How come whenever Elaine or George come to Jerry's apartment--Jerry buzzes them into the building, then UNLOCKS THE DOOR and leaves it ajar. But Kramer just bursts through the door at random times, and it is never locked? Obviously I have to much time on my hands. But did you notice this, too?

  • @gigglyme2001
    @gigglyme2001 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

One of the past Jeopardy contestants (might have been James Holzhauser) recently said that one of the buzzer techniques he used was that every time you hit the buzzer it would lock the buzzer for 3 seconds so if you hit it 1 second before the machine will accepted buzzes, you will be locked out for 2 whole seconds so it wouldn’t matter if your thumb was the first to hit it.

"There was a woman in a wheelchair with no feet, that went on The Price is Right, and her prize was a treadmill. But she was a standup comedian and she loved it." Just wondering, do we still call her a standup if she has no feet? I almost missed that because I was laughing so hard at the story. Bartleby, you are hilarious, even when you aren't trying. And thanks also for introducing us to Danielle Perez. She is awesome.

Started listening to the podcast pretty recently and still find it hilarious when at some point in every episode Nate feels the need to remind Aaron and Brian that they’re doing a podcast. Where’s the sense of urgency! I listened to the game show episode on an airplane and about lost it when Nate was talking about the mountain climber game and said “there goes Fritzy”. Also appreciated the irony when Nate made a comment about “back then you actually had to talk to you wife when you were on an airplane” while I was literally sitting next to my wife on an airplane with headphones in and not talking to her.

Happy Anniversary to Nate and Laura!!! October 13th is also MY BIRTHDAY! I remember the day you got married because it was my 16th birthday. I was a sophomore in high school and played football, so we had a football game that night. I was not a Varsity starter but we still had to dress; so I figured I would spend my sweet sixteen birthday on a Friday the 13th on the sideline. BUT then the coach told me that the starting kicker was not going to be able to play that night, and since I was also a kicker he told me to warm up. I was so excited that I could be a part of my first varsity game ever on my birthday. I thought maybe this “Friday the 13th” birthday wouldn’t be so bad afterall. That was all dashed when the coach completely ignored me at the game, picked a random kid who had never kicked before, and let him do all the kickoffs while I stood on the sideline... in the rain... in the cold… on my birthday. The salt in the wound was that the other kid never kicked the ball more than 20 yards…… Worst. Birthday. Ever.

As a long time fan of Nate’s, it was really cool to hear that Laura is from my home town of Lawrenceburg! I’ll never forget when I was 10 my dad took me with him to buy something from the Amish. The front of my shirt had a picture of a guy surfing. One of the Amish kids asked me “what is that guy on your shirt doing?”. I tried to explain surfing to him but he didn’t understand because he didn’t know what the ocean was.

Searches to find out if Scottish police carry guns by googling the phrase “Scottish police” with no additional detail.
Aaron an hour and a half later:
This Amish guy just googled “girls.” Couldn’t he have been a little more specific?
    Hilarious…Thanks for another great episode!

I'm 30 years old, and my dad, who is not even 60 yet, has a photo of him being held as a baby by a woman who was married to a Civil War soldier. History often feels so far away until we realize how many lifetimes close it really is. (Further example: We are currently closer to the time of Jesus Christ than He and his disciples were to the building of the Egyptian Pyramids)

I love the newer shows with Dusty but I never noticed how adorable Aaron is up close until I saw these older ones, because with him and Dusty next to each other, the camera doesn't get as much zoomed-in FACE. I was able to tell Aaron this story after the first live Nateland recording, but hearing that y’all are going to be in Ohio made me want to go share the story. A few years back I was gifted tickets to a John Crist show at a Columbus church. Being a big fan I was excited and my girlfriend was an OSU student so we were both going to go. And we did, however as we were driving from her dorm to the show she broke up with me. We then sat through a multi-hour comedy show even though we were obviously going through some stuff. On the bright side, I was introduced to an amazing comedian named Aaron that night and the laughter honestly helped the situation. Girls come and go but Nateland will be there for you once a week.

Sammy and Kate won't be alone for Halloween! I am surprising my husband by dressing up as Nate...as his Professional Wrestling persona...The Baker! My husband I made the mistake of getting stuck watching the TWENTY episode WWE documentary, after we listened to your episode on wrestling. Every time they would bring up different characters' signature move, we would yell "Do the Baker's dozen! It's the best!". I have borrowed a chef's jacket and hat, I stole my husband's wrestling shoes and head gear(he is a wrestling coach, not a 35 year old weirdo who buys them for fun), and bought some duct tape to make letters for my back. I am attempting to convince my 6 year old to go as " The Baker's dozen"...she isn't going for it, and terrible with surprises. Wish me luck!

NBA players on game shows reminds of Gregg Popovich. Every time he's being interviewed between quarters, he gives short quick answers like he's trying out to play fast money on Family Feud.
    I'll go proofread this now.

Nate said he couldn't do a game show with questions....sorry Nate, not a lot of shows with just clapping and grunts

To the two who are looking to dress up as Nate for Halloween, just wear the “original” Snuggie
No one will get your costume at all but true folks will know

Hey Nate my girlfriend and I saw you at your Baltimore show and met you after.
We wanted to ask: Do comics spend time making sure their last joke for a set is really good? Bates and Aaron can weigh in too, thanks.

When the gang spoke about the host that kisses all the women it made me think of a tradition here. During Mardi Gras, Men walking around with paper flowers and you kiss him to get the rose. Definitely cringe when you think about it.

Not one mention of Tennessean, Wink Martindale, one of the greatest game show hosts ever.

I’m not all the way caught up on the show yet but wanted to jump ahead to comment(from a UC fan): suck it Weber.

Listening to Nate try to pronounce bologna made me wonder how he would order an hors d’oeuvres platter of bologna, or how many horses have been divorced in Bologna, Italy.

The Amish family was probably in the witness protection program.
Game shows - what about Match Game?! Gene Rayburn kissed the pretty celebrities and was a creep about it!
