I like how they brought back the monster hummer in the name of “environmentally friendly electricity” 😂
The hummer name used to by synonymous with pathetically low range and emissions that would put a coal power plant to shame. Now we have a new hummer with zero emissions and a range on par with some of the most fuel efficient gas vehicles on the market.
@@orange_turtle3412Zero emission when build? Zero emission from the power plant generating the electric power needed to move 9000 lbs? And to produce 1000hp?
Zero emission for the increased amount of tear of the infrastructure, the roads, such a heavy vehicle creates?
Zero emission for the increses road space it needs for driving and parking?
And what about this being a pedestrian killer? Or a danger to people driving sensible sized cars?
@@th5841 I mean the car has zero emissions. I never said it was environmentally friendly. It just doesnt emit anything from itself
@@orange_turtle3412 Ev's in its life cycle produce more carbon emissions than petrol powered cars in its life cycle as of today, we still need coal to power these cars and produce more carbon while mining. Hybrids are the best way as of today. not Ev's unless someone finds the better power source for producing mass electricity than coal. And petrol cars are still fun as heck.
@@rahuldas3379actually on average after 6 years a gas car will surpass the ev
Who knew that a car that has a battery that weighs more than a Miata could be so damn easy to road trip.
This thing rules.
it better be at least decent for $110k sheesh
it better be fucking good for that price
I knew it
Yeah and for the normal person driving the Miata, or any sedan sized car it doesn’t rule.
@@ralkiait’s the same price as a Tesla but it’s better
There's something about driving a street legal EV monster truck that's special 😅
It costs money to charge! There is no reason to go electric, I hate it even more.
Please, how did you afford this?😩
What an absolute abomination of a vehicle.
We’re so far away from EV’s being practical. I can’t wait to use the excuse when my boss calls and asks me why I’m late for work, “sorry sir I remembered to charge my phone but forgot to plug in my car, I’ll be in around 11:00.”
Charge at home and you have a full tank every day so you never need to stop to charge. Only on road trips.
Hackers can hack the vehicle’s computer systems and it’s over they got your info
I’m scared for some of those small local bridges in towns with this thing
those would likely have a weight limit.
its stull under 5 tons and ive never seen a bridge with a weight limit less than 5
@@lucapagliai7869 what if two hummers go over it? or even a hummer and basically any other car
@@abysswalker2403 that happens with like a 2500 pick up too
@@abysswalker2403guess that’s the hard way of finding out you shouldn’t ride people’s ass on tiny bridges
I finally saw one of these ev numbers on the road. They look so bad ass.
I could never afford one, but love them just the same...
that car is just so unnecessary
That’s literally the definition of every Hummer ever lol.
@@LateNightDateNight somehow I feel like this one is even less necessary than the “real” predecessors
your comment too, so it's ok lol
There's no such thing as unnecessary
Spoken like a true Tesla fanboy waiting on the cybertruck to finally go into production so somebody can drive and review _it._ The unnecessary Hummer has been out for nearly 2 years now. Lol
the headlights indicating charge are huge brain, now that I've seen it it makes so much sense I can't give any reason why I haven't seen it on another EV yet.
1000% agree. its one of my favorite features
I think rivians have something similar with the front light bar.
I don't want other people knowing how much charge I have.
I would never buy an electric car without having proper charging capabilities at home
Would’ve been better with a Cummins in it
New hummer on the Merrit looks so calm haha, thats usually a circus when im on
Hey Tedward! Drive safe out there i enjoy your videos!
This thing is a beast. Obviously not really made for a normal consumer but it is a cool novelty
Too expensive, too heavy, extremely inefficient. We're at least a few years away from having efficient SUVs.
Novelty for what?
It's heavy as a freight train, poor range, can't tow any real distance, even poorer range the faster you drive, no serious off roading.
What is the point of this massive lump of shit?
They can make is smaller if they want to. Then I think it would be reasonable.
@@robertgreenhalge1708could say the same for the original Hummer lol it’s literally just a novelty item to show your friends. If you’re buying a car to actually be useful, you’re not in the market for a Hummer
@@robertgreenhalge1708all I hear is “I’m broke” I don’t buy a v8 to save gas it’s for fun just like I don’t buy a Hummer EV to be efficient. It’s all for fun and show
2019 Dodge ram 5.7 Hemi - $60 + or - for fuel from e to f. Around 413 miles on a full tank ... this shit still doesn't make sense to buy and ain't cheaper.
It's a good thing you went to NY when you did considering yesterday the sky was orange due to wildfire smoke...
definitely glad I did not go during the smoke...it looks horrible!
@@TedwardDrives it feels horrible too lol, glad it’s clearing up now
Damn all those canadians lighting their fires! 😂
.......$41 for 50% charge?!?!?! THAT'S RIDICULOUS!!! pennies on the dollar my ass.....
Mining lithium to make those batteries is incredibly horrible for the environment.
This car is kinda Dream Car material
The problem with EVs is they’re all too expensive and nobody can afford a house so they can charge at home. Until the housing crisis is solved or it doesn’t take 30+ min to “fill up” EVs will never be mainstream
Why are you so concerned with EVs being mainstream? It sounds like you’re hoping they don’t become mainstream but it’s sorta too late for that. Anti EV clowns shouldn’t even be in the comments of EV reviews if you’re uninterested.
@@grassberries Yes I did read it all, again what data warrants the idea “EVs will never be mainstream”? They already are. People don’t just charge at home.
tesla model 3 and y are relatively cheap
@@imviciously and so is the Cadillac Lyriq which gets you a whole lot more for your money than a Tesla Model Y.
@@G-Rated that's cool, I'm just saying that the prices of EVs aren't that high anymore
So let me get this straight… You have to drive slower on the highway so you don’t drain your battery too fast? You spend money on food/shopping while your truck charges for 40+ mins (which doesn’t even get you to full) and still pay $50? Charging stations aren’t everywhere and the ones that are out there have only 1-2 working machines? Did I miss anything?
I live along the route of your road trip, pretty cool to see!
An hour to charge. No thanks, it takes me 5 minutes to fill up. I will stick with combustion.
A 4.1 ton EV car is absolute nonsense.
It’s not a car. How is it “nonesense”? It’s pretty basic stuff. Batteries are heavy - this *truck* has a very large one. Where’s the disconnect for you? Or are you just bring a *troll?*
Holy crap, you said Petrol!! Sorry, I'm just not used to Americans saying that.
As the environmentalist: Mining for batteries are a hell of a lot better than the drilling and burning of oil, especially since that material is lifetime of the vehicle not one week of fuel. Ideal? no but we gotta work with realities, at least improvements/shift to LFP packs will reduce material per pack/ eliminate cobalt and nickel.
You do realise that we have to burn coal to charge this death machine. 😐
@@Dang00TheAlien Right because solar, wind, nuclear, hydro, geothermal and tidal all don't exist or anything. Also what if I told you that EV's charged on coal still pollute less than ICE due to the higher efficiency of both the car and power plants?
@@KeeperOfTheSevenKeys. none of which are good enough to actually support the power grid anyway. Everyone seems to forget that. Good luck trying to charge everyone’s cars every night when we can’t even afford to keep the air conditioners running throughout summer currently. If we actually had more more nuclear power plants I would agree, but we don’t.
@@Dang00TheAlien They are though, automakers aren't even able to outpace grid expansion so that's not really going to be an issue.
@@Dang00TheAlienNuclear power produces fuck tons more power per KG of material AND per sqft of space. It is also less deadly than coal, even if you include accidents like chernobyl that was 100% a purposely inaction from the governments, it's still WAAAY safer to build and then use.
If/wen I get an EV eventually I’ll almost certainly splurge on a portable batt pack from Anker or whoever else makes em. Like having a 5 gallon can with you on a trail wen using a PEV
The problem is, they don't hold much charge and they also charge very slowly.
Thats not how that works, at all
Dude why are you charging a banana ?
40 minutes sitting around waiting for your car to charge😂 couldn’t be me man
Using 70s technology.... Nasa half-assed a partnership with like Hyundai or Honda (an Asian car manufacturer) to produce better batteries. In a year they came out with a battery that could hold 2x the energy and charge from 0 - 100% In 15 mins. Bottom line is gas cars had over a hundred MORE years of development than EVs, so don't be surprised if it acts like 100 year old technology.
I know, it's ridiculous, especially since some of the charging stations don't even work properly.
40 mins IF the station is actually working 😂
Great truck but they sold 47 in Q2 of 23...
That hummer sounds good,it's relaxing to hear. All EVs should have a sound like that. It isn't much cheaper to change than it is to tank up a civic. Might as well get a gas SUV for half the price, lol, but it is cool.
“Might as well”? It’s not a chore owning a Hummer EV it’s a treat. Nobody owns a Hummer because they need it, it’s something you *want.* I don’t think y’all fully understand the concept of a Supertruck. This purchase makes a statement socially and it is money spent for comfort, fun & enjoyment.
@@G-Ratedis 'want' in bold?
@@G-Ratedsomeone gets it
@@zombockerman it is. Lol
I can’t believe people actually sit and wait for 30-50 mins charging a car when you can pull into a gas station for 4 minutes and out lol it still baffles me that people buy EV’s
Wealthy people know the value of time. Poor people don’t. Hence why poor people will waste 40-50 mins charging (to save money on fuel) and simultaneously go spend $50-$75 on a meal or shopping while they wait for their car to charge 😂
yoooooooo that peugeot 205 and audi sport quattro 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
It just seems so vulnerable to be WAITING for the batteries to charge.
Except that almost nobody just stands there and waits for their car to charge. They go shopping or eat lunch at a nearby restaurant, and 20 or 30 minutes later they come back to an EV that's ready to go.
@@beanapprentice1687 Why would YOU know what people do?
@@craigster1234 Simple. I follow communities of EV drivers and have learned all about their driving and charging habits.
@@beanapprentice1687 Get lost.
"I am going slow speed" … Going 70 in a 65 zone is NOT slow considering you are driving a giant 9000 pounds brick
Sure will be nice when you can use Tesla Superchargers. Then you can buy a Cybertruck as well to match :) Also, why haven't you put in a wall charger at your house? Where are the 300Kw electrify America stations or can't the hummer take it that hard?
38 minutes to get gas essentially, noice.
i wanna drive that thing so bad
I seen a HUMMER EV one point while driving through I10 one point here in FL. It’s pretty cool to look at and seen one first time
Ive only ever seen one in person. It was in a parking lot in San Diego and the thing took up the entire parking space.
it’s so ironic? The purpose of EV is supposed to save the world, but then they make this EV, yup saving the planet
dont forget the banana peel
9000 pounds ? And they haven’t figured out a way to put enough battery to get a 500 mile range ? Do they actually want to sell these things ?
Not really sure comparing an electric vehicle to a manual transmission vehicle in traffic is appropriate. Your complaints about the manual in traffic is pretty much the reason virtually nobody wants a manual any more.
Could easily compare to clunky autos and dct as well.
Damn, this is not a road trip car.
At 165kwh it still takes an hour.
Easily ads 30%-40% to the time of any road trip.
I love them but can’t get my mind around the charging issues, like an hour to charge and trying to find locations. Man, sitting so where for an hour?
5:10 when he talks about the heated/cooled seats button.. car reviewers complain that they're are too many buttons then complain when manufacturers find ways to lessen the amount of buttons. Some can't be satisfied
What he says is kinda fair actually, since it seems like only the buttons are physical, but the functions change based on which one you press.
"Relatively slow speed." I didn't know going 71 in a 65 is slow.
Unless you’re a grandma or drive a prius, yes that is slow.
This Hummer and a Rimac are the only electric cars I would like to drive 😂👌
What about the Audi e-tron?
@@meowexotics6516did you really ask if anyone wanted to drive a P🤮rsche 😂
Rivian
That hummer is illegal to drive on parkways in the NYC tri state area. Its over the maximum weight limit. These new things are so ridiculously big they are in the size and weight range some states consider commercial vehicles.
...let's not go down that route when many countries have weight limits 1.5 - 2x as high because they ACTUALLY maintain their infrastructure. Even in Canada, just across the border, the weight limit is 50,000 lbs higher than the US. Here's the funny part... you guys max out at 80,000lbs, but in Canada you can drive on our roads and then somehow fit 5 of these hummer EVs IN your trailer and still be underweight by 5,000lbs. It's not a problem with the car, it's literally a poor infrastructure problem. You guys dump too much into your defense and military and NOTHING into your own people and then wonder why your country is falling apart.
Also you are completely lying and purposely leaving out context. According to New York law, a NON-COMMERCIAL vehicle is 26,000lbs or below. This hummer is only around 10,000lbs which means you can 2.5x that trucks weight and still be considered a passenger vehicle and not a commercial vehicle.
Gas guzzlur to electricity guzzler💀💀
I'm not paying for a charge to also have to waste my time. Pay for the gas and keep going baby!
being a more expensive car because it's electric and paying $50 to recharge, is it cheaper than a regular car, something I would pay $30-$40 to fill up.(not necessarily a regular Hummer)?
The government has power to shut them off at anytime people have no clue
What?
100 bucks to fill it up still...
I will never understand the logic behind a large electric SUV. There is one of these at my local dealer that has been sitting for a couple months. No one wants this thing.
Chevy has the opportunity to create the greatest Bolt known to man and decides to make this thing instead
When you said it's cheaper than a gas guzzling diesel, should have said gas guzzling petrol!!! Petrol Vehicles are so much less efficient compared to their diesel counterparts!!!! Coming from the Europe to North America people don't tend to like diesel only a few diesel pumps around. But yet far more efficient than petrols!!! Kinda miss the diesels, I guess electric is the direction of the future if only we could charge an electric car in a few minutes like filling up a conventional car!!!
Idk never have these problems with gas and my range is a lot better with gas
This car is so Dangerous. Imagine this Vs a 2000 pound Carolla or a 3500 Pound Minivan with a family inside
In my country you need a heavy vehicle driving license to drive vehicles weighing over 3 tonnes (~6600lb), so this Hummer would end up in the same category as medium-duty lorries/trucks e.g. Mercedes-Benz Atego, Hino 300
@@lzh4950 what country is that in
@@YellowDoh Singapore. On the other hand you can drive vans & light trucks/lorries e.g. Ford Ranger, Toyota Dyna with a car license (what we call Class 3(A/C) instead of Class 4(A))

and my car isnt even a gas guzzler
i usualy pay up to 70 euros to top up my opel corsa now a days
if i paid 50 bucks to top up my car id be a happy guy
Love you from India 😮
I like how you mentioned Electricity is NOT free. People need to weigh costs to charge VS filling up with diesel fuel or gasoline. This was barely cheaper than filling up my Ram 2500 with a Cummins but I get 600 miles of range on the highway with my Cummins. My Ram weighs 8,000lbs, when I get 600 miles to range I am not towing, and I am going on long road trips.
@unixsuperuser….. that’s not even close to the truth . My Raptor cost $150 to fill up, my M3 cost $70 to fill up, my S7 cost $90 to fill up….hell my sons 2022 Civic cost $45 ….. price per “fill up “ HEAVILY favors the EV the difference is entry price .

This car was a rush to the market. The battery efficiency is horrible
Sorry, but having to wait 38 minutes to recharge this car, when some fossil fuel cars can do it in less than a minute, depending on the size of the gas tank! Just ridiculous. Besides, with a normal sized full tank of gas, you can drive, depending on the car and your driving style, 700-800 miles easily, even more, if you drive economically.
I have never, nor will I ever be a fan of EV's, for a plethora of reasons. Besides, it just doesn't sound and smell as cool. Also most modern fossil fuel cars are environmentally-friendly enough.
What cars have 700-800 mile range on gasoline? That’s pretty rare.
