You are blowing my mind !!!!! I'm now doing this piano key boarder on everything I make! OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Nancy, I have never been more excited about quilting. I just finished binding my 3rd quilt and I'm reading patterns left and right!!! I have my next quilt under my needle and I cut out the pieces following your instructions. This is my first quilt that I've needed to cut out, instead of using precuts. All went well!! Thank you so very, very much. I look forward to a quilt as you go.
I have a cat "OF SUBSTANCE ". Her name is Snicker. Thank you for teaching your techniques! I just found you and I will follow you because I have wanted to learn these techniques since the 1980's.
I’ve done coping strips. I just didn’t know there was a term for it. My blocks are always not the same size. Maybe just a bit shy, but I’m a stickler for same size blocks 😂
I would like to purchase/download your booklet, Easy Sashing - booklet shown on this video, Piano Key Border. I searched on your Facebook page and your website but could not find it. Is it still available. I saved this video so I can go back and watch later. I started a quilt as you go log cabin quilt and I never did this method so I need this booklet! Thank you.
Hi Judith, the Easy Sashings booklet has the instructions for the other stitch and flip quilt shown on the cover and the directions for the Easy Sashings. I do not have a book for the log cabin or the borders, those are just on video - sorry.
Hi Betty, all my books are on my website www.QuiltingWithNancy.com but this doesn't have a book, but there are the other books I spoke about for the Easy Sashings Technique.
Check out her earlier videos she explains and demonstrates it very well. To me it’s like learning to use your ruler like a strip cutting ruler and not having to buy another one. You start out at the widest one you can cut depending on the size of your ruler and you work your way down. Example is I have a 15” ruler so I can cut 6 (2.5”)strips (15; 12.5; 10; 7.5; 5; 2.5) Depending on how comfortable you are you can cut several layers at a time.

Very cool 😀
I have done it for years on every quilt except for 5 that I did in 2 " squares
6 deep
6 " x 78"....
Really nice too
And I put hearts in the corners
Thank you. I often do piano key borders, but I never thought to miter. Beautiful!
Glad it was helpful!
Love how drawing the line keeps it straight. Thanks for that!!

How many sets of pre cut squares would you need to do a king quilt + piano key border?
Depending on how big you want your finished quilt and borders. The blocks finish like 12 so 8 by 8 could be a good size to plan on :)
Hi Nancy,
I love the mitered corner on the piano key border. It looks very sofisticated! ❤
Watching the rerun from the Southern Gulf Coast of Texas! 🤠
Thanks so much
Kitty isn't fat, he's floofy
😂
What about using the background color as the sashing so all your points are not lost?
Sounds like a plan :)
