I’m 64 yrs old. Love music can not live without music Have been a rocker all my life. My dad was country and we would tie up sometimes but ironically I started singing go figure country made dad very happy. I still like country but rock is in my veins pop to. Now! To Louis! I absolutely love this album. Every song. Yes. They are mixed and 16 is a big number. BUT I feel Louis had to do something BIG. With all he’s been through and the pain and suffering he’s done it had to be BIG and him!
Bigger than me is the most listened to BC it speaks of living life sorta numb and thinking I’m on the clouds and getting a reality check and there it is The world is bigger than me and puts you back in your place! Lucky again I think has romantic overtones from his 1D days ! There’s several that resonate romantically and I think they all are from 1D days and his falling in love His young love. !!! I think he still loves! Louis confidence in being able to do this alone and not with the band was shaky. He also lost his sister and mother. The boy has been thru hell. His mom told him you can do this before she passed! He IS doing it! I can almost feel his spirit. I love Louis beyond words! He’s my favorite of the 1D boys! He’s Common People! He’s a great guy. Good soul. Not arrogant. A real person! I agree with you about some things on the record. I have my favorites. But I LOVE ALL OF THEM. #1 for me is Bigger than Me! Evidently a lot of ppl. #2 Written all over your face. #3 Chicago. Sorry. I know you didn’t like it much but it hits heart cords with me. #4 Out of my system! Louis is trying to prove himself. He wants to live up to his moms pride in him! Yes. I said it 16 is a lot ! BUT it shows his versatility! A couple are basically dance tunes! When I was young I’d go clubbing and dance all night. Great memories. Some romantic some rock! All in all A great set of songs and a great album to me! I listen to ALL types of music. I love Harry as well. I think Harry’s success gave Louis doubts at the beginning until his mom set him straight. He IS MY FAVORITE! I’m all about Louis! I love LOUIS!!! ♥️

Firstly thanks for the reaction of the entire FITF album and for Louis being the first artist you do it too. As a Louie I'd like to add lots of context end comments about the songs, lyrics and meanings of them but I think is nice you found your own reasons to liked and dislike them, is always interesting (and very appreciated) to have a different POV and lots of music' information from you.
I'd only "defend" Bigger Than Me, just because the background of it, this song have a special meaning for Louis and how he felt confident enough to do the vocals and released it as a song in the album and later a single, marking the beginning of his new path, as he said it, trying to do more of what he wanted instead of looking for the radio hit... of course BTM is more typical to many artists but not for him (in his solo career), to me is a way to show off his vocals for others and himself, kind of a statement in this album.
    Thanks again for this reaction!

Louis has stated multiple times that he mainly wrote or chose songs for this album specifically to sing them live, (he loves live music so much so that since he’s never been able to perform at a festival he decided to create his own called “Away From Home Festival” & held it for the 2nd time this year in Spain, & the 1st one he held in London last year for free as a thank you to the fans and a way to start to bring back live music since Covid), he said he wrote ‘The Greatest’ not just as an album opener but a tour opener & though sadly I have never seen him live, I have watched multiple lives of his concerts & it does give me a bit of a different perspective of the songs as I imagine them being played at different times of his concerts and how the vibes and energy will be in the crowd, I am especially excited to hear & see ‘Out of my System’ live, I feel like that is one of the songs he will be getting down into the crowd as he sings it or maybe ‘Face the Music’ (if you get the chance to see clips of Louis going into the crowd & running from security, it is very entertaining) I do prefer this album over his 1st, I feel like he did more music that he actually liked & I do too so that was great, like I said I just keep imagining the songs live & the energy of the crowds & that excites me even more while I listen to this album, I feel as though you might enjoy his unreleased song ‘Copy of a Copy of a Copy’ & if you do listen to it or react to it, definitely choose a live video to react to!

Thanks for the reaction. Since I liked so many songs, your honesty in saying, "There's some songs in here I really do like and that's, for me, surprising" really helped to qualify your reactions compared to mine. I don't mind the shifts in styles as it creates a diversified playlist with a consistency of lyrical theme. I think Louis goes back to what he always loved when producing a physical album, and states in interviews he's not looking to mass produce singles. He doesn't get much radio-play so there's not a need to produce for that market. Instead, he looks to recreate a killer live performance/tour set. His music comes off different away from studio production and live on stage. It's stronger and more cohesive.

Thanks for lending your expertise and humoring us with a reaction to the entire album. I also appreciate your honesty. Regarding why the album isn't 100% one genre, I have a couple theories. One, Louis is not totally convinced that his fan base has moved on from pop elements, hence songs like Chicago. Or two, he himself is truly pop rock. In his youth he was very much a theater kid. His first audition song for X Factor was "Elvis ain't dead" and he was in his school play Grease. He also sang "Hey there Delilah" for X Factor and other pop ballads on his old TH-cam channel in his teens. I myself love his ballads because I was drawn to his tone so I'm glad for those elements on this album. But I'm really proud of Louis for finding his sound finally.

I have different playlists of FITF for different mood like for before bedtime, when I'm on my way to work, when I wanna dance or when I'm missing someone, etc. You name the vibe. He gives it. I love that and I think Louis did it on purpose.

Louis’ band members really shine on stage. When you mentioned harmonies & layering vocals, the band will be doing some of that backup singing during live shows. The guitar 🎸 solos are amazing. Explaining all the different sounds & your perspective on how the songs progressed made this such an interesting & fun reaction to watch.
By a more cohesive album, I’m thinking of old 80’s bands that had both rock songs & power ballads. They didn’t skip genres when including both on an album. It would smoothly transition from one to another. At least I think that’s what you meant. Let me know. 😂

A lot of people buy this record on vinyl rather than streaming, and there are many editions of it - some people have bought numerous iterations on different colours of vinyl, etc. The first time I heard it, I didn't care for Chicago and Common People much, but they've grown on me a lot through repeat listening. For those of us who are fans, this album's notable for the development in Louis' vocals, which are much stronger than before and he's doing different things with his voice, and personally I like the different styles of music on this album as I get bored when an album's too cohesive!

It's nice to see someone react to an album, whatever it is, in an authentic way. My respects. I'm glad you liked some of the songs. I love Louis with all my soul, I love his songs and I'm glad that his music reaches more and more ears.

  • @hiker10

You point out that so many different kind of songs should not be on one album. For me that's one of the reasons why I absolutely love this record. You can listen to it a hundred times and it never will get boring. Every time I discover new things in the songs. And in case you're not in the mood of a club dancy one just skip it. Simple as that. I could not decide on a fav song bc they are so different. 😄 I don't like records where the same kind of sound goes from the first to the last song and you merely can't recognise which song is playing. I know such records too well.
BTW the different kind of moods show us Louis' sides of his personality. Clubbing Lou, romantic Lou, rocking Lou, being honest, loyal, down to earth, growing etc
And: yes we definitely need a full record bc we still buy records. I don't stream, I don't buy singles, I only buy full albums. 💪🥰🔥

The sound you were trying to figure out in Holding Onto Heartache, is an underwater guitar apparently, according to a fan who said she asked Louis about it at a meet and greet. I've never heard of underwater guitars so that's pretty interesting.
I enjoyed this reaction! I think some of the more pop-leaning songs are on there because of Louis' roots since he came from a pop band, and a portion of his fanbase is from that band, so he likely doesn't want to alienate them. But he's also moving more towards making the stuff he loves listening to which is more rock or indie leaning, and is getting closer to fully moving into that sound he wants to achieve with each album. It's an ongoing process rather than a sudden shift, and I'm excited to see him go through it over the years. Out of all the songs I think Written all over your face is the most popular, and hopefully will be a single in the near future. I also love All This Time- it's weirdly addictive and hypnotizing. Out of my system has my favourite guitar riff and drums. Overall, this is an album that never gets old to me, no matter how much I replay it.

I will add All this Time is a tie for #1 with me! I just LOVE this song. There is something magical about it. I just want to heap praise on Louis! I can’t help it. It’s amazing to me for me that I have not felt this much passion and love for anyone in years! In 1976 my cousin sang at my Jr/Sr prom and sang Dreamboat Annie by HEART. I was mesmerized. Afterwards I grabbed her and asked where’s the song whos song????? She told me HEART! We ate Sunday dinner with them a lot. That Sunday I BAILED out of the car and went straight to her bedroom and she put the album (good ol vinyl) on I was immediately hooked. Have seen them 53 times since 1976. So Louis is on a VERY special level for me! I will see him in Nashville and scream and jump and dance and make a fool of myself. I will be one happy young at heart and body and soul 64 year old man. Thanks for reacting!
    A couple of thoughts:
    1. I love the genre-blending on the album; to me, it’s cohesive through its viewpoint and his beautiful honey-lemon-lavender tones, and also replicates being at his concerts (except he sounds even better live, and his band smashes it)
    2. Bigger Than Me was the first single, thus most streamed, but I do like it because, while it’s soaring-pop-ballad-ish the content is unusual; it’s about his realization that he and his fans together are more than the sun of their parts. Quite insightful and empowering, really. (Also love its Iceland set music video.)
    2. Chicago is a whole novel in relatively few words. It’s a grower for me.
    3. Angels Fly is…not about religious or Hallmark style angels. It takes me back to summer nights and my beloved Peter Pan (may he rest in peace) who was flying, um, a good part of his life.
    4. Of course, it’s all subjective. My music loves include people like Leonard Cohen, John Prine, Joni Mitchell, Johnny Cash, Shane MacGowan: unique voices with something interesting to say. To me, Louis is in the same category, so I’m not fussed when he mixes it up sonically.
Oh, and…some of us do indeed buy albums. #1 in the UK didn’t happen by chance. 😊
Also, you might want to listen to one not on this album that’s among my favorites: Copy of a Copy of a Copy.

Thank you so much for this reaction 💙 You should also check out his debut album Walls. It's a great album and you'll find his Oasis influence a lot in there. He even gave Noel Gallagher songwriting credit in the title track.
Few things I'd like to add about Faith in the future:
Bigger than me might be a sound that's been used alot before but it's not the same for him. For the first time he lets his vocals shine truly so it's a huge song for him and us since he's a lot more confident about his voice. Another special thing is the lyrics. The idea behind the song that you don't get to hear much from other artists. So personally I love this song. And it's the first single, hence the most streamed but deserved cos it's a great song.
It's an amazing coincidence that She is beauty we are world-class reminded you of the band Evermore that you said became huge in Australia and New Zealand cos the title of the track came from Australia itself. Louis was on the Australian leg of his first world tour and one of his producers found this title on the mirror of a public bathroom there.
For Chicago, it's a more pop inclined sound but the reason it's a fan favourite is cos of the lyrics and how personal but relatable it sounds.
The best part about Saturdays is that you keep waiting for it to build up and then it just slaps you on the face.
Holding onto heartache is another masterpiece in the album. Absolutely love the song, the lyrics the bridge and just everything is perfect.
This is my favourite album and for me there's not even a single skip. I can't choose a favourite I just love all 16 tracks. Another great thing about the album is that every single song is kinda different from the other but beautiful in its own way. Loved hearing your thoughts though. Really appreciate your honesty 💙

Hi just rewatched this, thank you. It’s pretty common knowledge Louis is largely blocked from radio and TV in US and UK, making releasing of singles and charting difficult. Listening to your comments makes me think that he put the songs all on the album to ensure they’d get heard and were out there, knowing that multiple singles were unlikely. His personal comments also indicate he wanted the fans taking the time to buy the album to have value for the money spent.
Retrospectively this strategy seemed to pay off as he got number 1 album in UK despite, having no major media support at release, no official reviews/rating of his album until months later, and him having to have emergency surgery and bed rest on his release week.
Lastly Louis is a story teller, the story holds the album together cohesively as well as much as the music. As a non fan listening, this would create the “holes” especially when the music changes stylistically.
Your comments show he needs to address this and that he has room for improvement. As the jump between his 1st and 2nd album is large, your comments serve to excite me for his 3rd album as he has not failed to surprise us with his music, lyrical honesty and his ingenuity at overcoming huge industry hurdles.

Thank you for your reaction I appreciate your insights from the perspective of a producer! And I’m really glad you overall enjoyed this album. Bigger than me was the first single which was released a little more than two months before the album which is why it has more streams. It’s not my favorite but it’s a solid song and it means a lot to Louis because he said that song is the bridge between his debut album walls and Faith in the future. For me this is a no skip album at first I wasn’t a huge fan of she is beauty we are world class because it caught me off guard I didn’t expect Louis to release a dancy tune like that but it grew on me as I listened to it more and more. One thing you should know is that Louis had tour/live shows in his mind as he made this album because he wants to create these special moments with the fans so some of these songs will sound probably even better live. You look at this from a production standpoint but my favorite thing about music are the lyrics and Louis is an amazing lyricist it’s one of the reasons why I enjoy his music. Lastly, my favorite part about this album is the variety, no two songs sound the same, each song is like it’s own entity. Thank you for making faith in the future your first full album reaction considering that it’s a big deal for you it means lot! Louis is underrated he deserves more recognition

Funny that you mentioned the 'all over the place' because that just describes pretty much Louis Tomlinson, because he had a lot of lows and ups. Actually this sounds more 'risky' because some people complained about 'Walls' that was not happy or depresive, which makes sense considering that in that period he lost his mom and a little sister. So of course his music has a lot of friendship and hardship theme.

And actually, Louis' fans are one of the groups who still buy physical product, as you say. I have my own copy on the table next to me.
re: the coherence of the album, I totally see your point about how some of the songs don't seem to 'fit', but personally I actually really like the diversity? I love being surprised when listening to an album and I love when artists showcase their diversity and/or rage when it comes to genres and styles. To me, an album all with the same style would more ""boring"" (i say that for a lack of a better term).
Personally, my favourites are Face the Music, Saturdays and Holding on to heart ache. Face the music probably for the same reasons as toy like it, saturdays because of the satisfaction at the end, like you mentioned, and because of the tension building up to when the release happens - also I love the lyrics. With hotha, I just really really like the cadence of it.
I really enjoyed hearing your observations about the songs and you pointed some stuff out I hadn't noticed, so thank you for that!! and thanks again for spending your time with louis and for us.
    Kind regards,
    Julie, 31, Denmark.

I like your honest review. It's great that you have a different opinion from us. Louis tries to include songs that are challenging, some fan loving, some are his own personal style etc..so that everyone has that one song that they connect with. Also Fitf was made in view of performing live. I feel that you'll love his debut album walls. It's quite different than this one.

Thank you so much for the album reaction. Is so interesting to listen to your thoughts. I remember when Blake did a review on the concert of Louis he comments how the set list was plan to have a big song that has more guitars and powerful melody and the next songs is more slow and he kept doing that for the whole show, is like a wave. Louis said the album was created with the tour in mind I think that is why we have more slow songs between the more big songs. I think She is a beuty and se are world class is the least favorite of many including myself, he admited he was experimenting with more dancing elements but I didn't think it match the album. Louis said out of my system was created wanting a song as punk rock as he can get away with it , I think that and silver tongues are more his style of music but I think we will get more of that in the next album. In general I love the album is a great combination of genres with makes it fun to listen because has diversity and sonically, lyrically and vocally is so much better than his first album, you see so much the growth. Thanks for the video again!

Thank you for the full album reaction. I liked the sound of the full album. But yes, some songs hits more. It was only the ”club song” that I’m not really vibing with. Otherwise I didn’t mind the album having some different styles on it. So I agree it gives you different vibes but it was still like cohesive enough for me if that can make sense. I mean I like me some typical love songs as well. I loved Chicago.

I totally agree about Chicago, is my only skipped song. It happens I'm not 1D fan. Louis wrote Chicago for his fans even though it’s not the musical genre or lyrics he likes and he was right bc it's one of the most listened song by his fans on Spotify. Hope someday he manages to capture the kind of audience that like his rocky songs more and he can leave behind his pop past bc that’s what he wants most. In fact he created the "Away From Home Festival" to promote emerging rock bands. Finally, I like the whole album bc it puts me in a good mood and I love the lyrics. We appreciate your time and positive feedback.
Best wishes for the New Year and please keep up the great work. Thank you

His pop past is what helped him in the first place and he appreciates it so much. Stop being snobs and thinking rock is above everything else. He loves his past and loves pop, otherwise he would not made those songs and if you really think he did it just bc he's scared he will lose fans you have no idea who louis Tomlinson is.
I'm so tired of new fans thinking they know better. No matter how hard you try to erase his past, harder he will try to connect to it. I'm sure you like night changes cover from him. Lol

louis love the kind of music he does now bc he loves listening to it too its his type of music but this doesnt mean he doesnt like to produce pop songs he always loved it also the 1d songs even tho its not his type of genre

    • @Ok_Loren
      @Ok_Loren ปีที่แล้ว +2

Louis has said in interviews he’s trying to find that balance between making the type of music he listens to & likes, while also making music his fans want to hear. He’s said how lucky he is to have fans that let him make the music he wants. He knows his fanbase has a lot of directioners so he’s not going to cut out pop or covers at all. None of the boys will.
I think his voice suits a lot of genres, which FITF kind of explored.
That said, I do think he’s still making some songs with a more traditional pop sound for fans. Perfect Now is a a fan fav, but he never performed it on tour. Apparently there are other songs from Walls he no longer feels connected to as well. It will be interesting to see his set list bc according to an interview or article I saw, he’s keeping covers like 7, BW, & 1 or 2 1D hits instead of including more songs from Walls. I would love for him to perform Miss You or cover Mr. Brightside again, but I know it won’t happen. If he performed Saved By A Stranger I would be a puddle of tears. Ig the point of this super long comment is that Louis will always make sure ALL his fans are included in what he does. He’s talented enough to make music that everyone will find something to love. 💙

I think the songs that don't fit in are more of a fanservice. A large part of his fandom listens to pop(carried over from his 1D days). The fan favourites are the ones that casual listeners are least likely to connect with. These are the more dancy songs that would make sense for when he goes on tour.
PS: that's the way love goes is definitely heavily inspired from hey there delilah because that was what he auditioned for X-factor with

Oasis is perhaps his strongest influence since he was a teen. Bigger than me was released before the album that is why it is the most listened. Bigger than me comes from his understanding that his music will be accepted by his fandom, giving him room to make music a little bit more outside the pop box, as he wanted, almost like with a live in its own. The reason why means a lot to his fandom who are with him since he was a kid basically. Thank you for taking the time to listen to the entire album, we appreciate it a lot. Also i'll talk about the lyrics like 'you use to read me like a headline' which means to read someone superficially that we actually enjoy from him, his symbolism. All eyes are on Lou with this album, especially by the label he wanted to go more punk rock with. 'She is beauty, we are world class' they found those two lines written on a wall, both with different writing and they love it and kept it lol. Common People is supposed to be simple, no pun intended. His fandom love Chicago and Angels Fly (look to sky to place oneself that there is more than just what we desire, the place where Angels Fly). Hold on headache the distorcion are vocals and say something like 'holding on... ...is broken... ...me'. He tried to make something more uplifting in this faith in the future album but our boy is... broken. Hey There Delilah he song at the X factor, is meaningful for him. I love Wall and I love FITF.

I'm so glad a professional is dissecting the whole album, you cannot imagine how rare this content actually is. There's a lot of music reactions but so few reactors with credibility, thank you so much for that! I liked the album overal, although only 4-5 songs stuck in my mind once it was finished. Lucky Again, The Greatest, Bigger Than Me (I think it just does the trick it was supposed to lol) and All This time are my favourite songs off it. Headline is super catchy too)) I need to listen to this album more though to get used to so much new stuff by Louis xD The dance song is weird to be completely honest and not in a good way. It's just a little bit dull and dated, like some of those first sound forge applications I used to have on my pc as a kid)))
I really hope you'll decide to review some of Harry Styles's and Niall Horan's works as well, these 3 guys are my favourite off One Direction and in my opinion all of them make great music, regardless of a chosen genre.
Please, react to Harry's House by Harry Styles (it's his latest one, out 2022) and Flicker by Niall Horan (his debut album, out 2017)

Bigger than me is kind of statement for louis, not just bc of sentiment it carries but bc he was always criticized for his vocal abilities so this power ballad was his way to prove a point he could his those notes. It's formulaic but it's was intended to do just that. Also it has most streams bc it was first single of that album. First thing we heard from it so he wanted fist thing to takj about his vocal abilities ig

Since you asked I basically disagreed with you on all the "best" songs on this album! Music is in the ear of the beholder and it is interesting hearing your opinion. I find many of the musical distortions a nuisance more than a blessing and it took a few times listening to get past that so I could really enjoy the songs. I admire Louis for experimenting and do not find it a bad thing to have so many types of music on one album as I float in and out of whatever the sound is and would likely find an album of similar sounds to be less interesting. I DO think this will generally sound better in concert where they don't over produce it. I would also like to add that my major enjoyment, aside from Louis' lovely voice, is the lyrics and would be interested in hearing more about those if that is something that appeals to you. Thanks for doing the album!

That's the cool thing that people are listening from different perspectives. Barrett is listening to the production and the elements that he prefers from his own listening enjoyment. I personally like to listen to Louis' light tenor and slightly raspy tone. Some folks hone in on the lyrics or the vibe. It's all good.

idk if you can see it but as much "all over the place" the songs aree...it just fits for him yk? it's how louis tomlinson nitpicks the song titles, the order, the sound productions, and how he explores sound that i have never seen anyone do is just fascinating. His voice is so unique and him lyrically, he brings new concepts and perspectives like angels fly and that's the way love goes is about callming a person u love like "hey let's talk about it tomorrow, but for now let's just watch movies, yeah love?" it's comforting. as for she is beauty we are world class, that song he definitely wrote when he was coming down from a high 😭 but god i could replay it a million times in my car. also there are only 14/13 tracks, that's the deluxe. It's also surprising for us that he went over to 16 tracks only because he's one of those people who HATES long songs that goes beyond 3:45 mins and long albums. I mean walls(his debut solo album) was like 13.. anyways thank u for the review im glad that u found new tunes you like for the time in a while as u said through louis's album.

Thanks for this reaction, Barrett! I always learn a lot from your experience and knowledge. You did give us your honest take on this huge album, something that we fans cannot do it anymore... lol
I agree that Louis could have done a more cohesive album. But I guess he wanted to show us where he's at: crossing over to alternative rock and experimenting freely. He made the album with the tour in mind hence the anthemic choruses. I think he's at his best in rockier songs like The Greatest, Face the Music, OOMS, Lucky Again, and Written All Over Your Face. Was pleased to see that Saturdays and Common People found their way to your heart. There's a backstory to That's the Way Love Goes: Hey There Delilah was his XFactor audition song...

( sorry I’m advance for how long this is) I had never noticed before how much distortion is in today’s music, Bigger Than Me isn’t one of my favorites either, the reason why it has the most plays is probably because it was the first single, released 3 months before the album, I actually really liked ‘Written all over your face’ & think it was a bit of a fan favorite, for me I just really loved his voice in it & hearing it live, specifically when he says “cold”, 😂 I kinda knew you weren’t gonna like Chicago based on what I’ve seen of your preference of music, it not really being your style, so glad you liked All This Time bc it’s one of my top 3 like you said the vibe is just there, love it, Oasis is a favorite band of Louis’, he grew up with it and you can tell some of his songs have that influence, the bridge is definitely satisfying in Saturdays, Louis did say that ‘She is Beauty & we Are World Class’ is quite similar to music him & his friends like to listen to at the club(I am surprised at myself at how much I like the song as I typically don’t like that club type of sounds), I am excited to hear how it will sound live as I’m not sure if he will keep that electronic sound or make it a bit more rocky with guitars and drums as he did with a few songs from his 1st album when singing it live, I don’t know if it was done deliberately ‘That’s the way love goes’ sounding similar to ‘Hey There Delilah’ but it was the song he auditioned with on X Factor so maybe it was like a little Easter egg idk
