If I had been in the fast group, on my pukka litre track bike and you had past me on that... Think I would have packed up there and then and gone home :)
Well said. It's seriously immense the capabilities of the new road bikes. Almost makes you contemplate even having a dedicated track bike. Loved the ending too.
I thought I would watch that black screen for some sort of bonus clip...You didn't disappoint Baron.. Nice video once again mate, Keep doing what you're doing man.
Baron, great to see you back and uploading vlogs. I'm a big fan of what you do so please keep it up. Also subscribed to 44 Teeth which I am enjoying loads. Love the vid, bonus end bit with the Brighton pier organ music, great!
Great video Baron! I really enjoyed the commentary on the track footage. Really interesting to hear your thoughts on the footage you were able to capture. Keep up the good work!
Jeez, I thought you might take a bit of a Baron Von Tumble on that! (Just kidding) You have more some massive balls, and of course skills. I couldn't take my S1000XR on a track like that! (By the way, I hope BMW is paying you for showing how awesome this bike is. Even though ANYONE who rides it with a bit of an open mind would instantly fall in love with it.) As always thanks for taking your time to make us awesome videos! :)
Considering on getting one yourself? It fits you better than the massive GS imho... Would you do a vid on how you transport the bikes in your van? Any special fixations or so?
I agree, phenomenal bike, I rode one up in the Lakes, blitzed it ... Very good bike, can't do without my GS though so I'll have to skip .... Got my RR2 blade for kicks
Great review. I did buy it for a street bike, but look forward to taking to take to a track day as well for fun. Any thoughts on the high speed wobble at 140, tires, set up or just the bike?
Came across this vid; test drive that beast, so much character and it keeps asking you to push it. At the time I wasn't ready (2years ago) but by the end I'll take one in my stable.
Took one out on a demo a few weeks back, great machine. Give the new Tuono a go though Bazza, I took one out yesterday and it's the best bike I've ever had the pleasure of riding.
If you had one bike ... would you recommend XR or SuperDuke they both seem to cover spectrum road going bike qualities (Canyon riding, Commuting, Touring, Trackdays) Main focus commuting and canyon riding.. really aiming for Reliable Supermoto with some creature comforts... Thank in Advance
Hey Baron, i bought the 2017 model last year and absolutely love it, i dont do sports bikes but i dont seem to have that wobble but maybe its due to me been quite heavy....Just wondered if the 1 you rode had the coded key for the pro option??? as it has a little more to give and calms the abs a touch making it able to be more stable.
Currently have an S1000RR but on a recent trip to the US129 I had my head turned by a R1200GS I rented. I know you liked riding the GS for the fun value. However would you prefer the XR over a GS even if you still had a sportsbike?
hi baron ,ur videos rock u give a accurate review of bikes . Need ur advice on picking a track bike ,i have lil experience on track about 10 years back used to on my k6 ,have few bikes in mind like cbr1000rr/ rsv4/s1000rr ,need to get back to track days wat ur pick ,{i also ride a 2015 z1000 and 97 TL1000S which i am doing a project bike make it look like a cafe racer will send u pics asa its done } awaiting ur reply
Not to be compared with the Versys 1k but I have the same wobble issue at higher speeds. Seemed to help a bit when I lowered the front a bit (raised the front forks). My wobble starts around 100mph (@ 85 before lowering). Prob due to the Versys having a bit more rake than the XR. Quite annoying.
The last time I rode around there was on a bicycle and I was about 11 yrs old. We got as far as the control tower where we got collared and taken to see the Station Commander. "What are you doing on my airfield?!!" he bellowed. when he found out both our Dad's were pilots he put us in the back of a Land Rover with our bikes! lol
I'm curious how the Yamaha FJ-09/MT-09 stacks up against this bike. I realize since its a cheaper bike, it likely wont be as good, but curious how it is for the money you pay for basically the same style of bike.
Are you moving your ass of the seat at all, scraping knee or just staying pretty much neutral? I didn't hear you scraping which makes me think you must have been dragging knee.
Whiz-bang vid Baron. I suspect it is the screen causing aerodynamic oscillations at high speed as it is angled so high and flat (search von Karman or flat plate vortex shedding for analogy). That is unless if felt like it was coming from the chassis. Keep em coming!
***** Hi Mr Von Grumble. Fantastic videos I really enjoy watching your stuff so please keep me entertained! Just a quiery.. what set up do you use on most of your videos please? Meaning what camera, what microphone etc because they're great quality.. Stay safe and thank you in advance :)
mm that wobble thing is interesting point you shown because i hate it when you take high speed turns, but it can happen with any type of bike not only trails and i prefer to avoid it. I have lucky my sv 650 s is a rail link at high speeds
Hi Baron....do you mind me asking which company you used for trackday insurance and did they cover 100% of the value? I'm dying to take my RR on track but can't afford to bin it?!! :-/ Cheers
Thank you... BaronVonGrumble!! Now I think I know why I love my bike so much!! I tried QuarterMile with it last weekend... (I'm a beginner!) and it did 11,899 and with a pro it can easily do under 11 sec!
Today I sat on one (tomorrow I'll be taking it for a test ride), and it feels that the siting position is way back in relation to the steering wheel. The speed wobble could be due to lightening of the front (magnified by the wind screen). The aerodynamic forces when going over 120mph are increased exponentially not linearly.
Been wondering the same. She was in the beginning. She probably did all the extra camera work too. But I'm not one to dig. I'm glad they hang all the time.
The thumb and the pinky is a New Zealand thing I think. It's used as a greeting/goodbye or encouragement I think. Someone from NZ correct me if i'm wrong. **Hawaiian, Hawaii*
The S1000XR is that guy in the circle that is always calm and collected, and takes care of the rest of the guys when they drank too much, but secretly he can chug an entire bottle of vodka and be unfazed
Interesting the thing about the knock-on effect for the next.. 5 ahead if you get it wrong!! Its true, but MotoGP they always seem to recover pretty immediately.
I don't imagine you would have had the suspension setup for a test ride, some of that movement under brakes could be suspension problems. Killer bike for the road for sure.
That is one of the best BMW bikes I have seen for me, I would enjoy a ride like that, would make a great touring bike!;-)={ it has great ergos when compared to some sport touring bike for sure. Went to a another website to see more about the bike, and it has better than average gauge cluster, with a proper tack, not liking the all digital types so many now have. Thanks. yl
If I had been in the fast group, on my pukka litre track bike and you had past me on that... Think I would have packed up there and then and gone home :)
Just test road one of these last weekend. It really is the do it all on comfort machine. Cool to see it in track.
Well said. It's seriously immense the capabilities of the new road bikes. Almost makes you contemplate even having a dedicated track bike. Loved the ending too.

Great video Baron! I really enjoyed the commentary on the track footage. Really interesting to hear your thoughts on the footage you were able to capture. Keep up the good work!
Nice review BVG. Much better than the usual video of "some bike does lap on such and such track with no words just exhaust note and wind buffeting".
Jeez, I thought you might take a bit of a Baron Von Tumble on that! (Just kidding)
You have more some massive balls, and of course skills. I couldn't take my S1000XR on a track like that! (By the way, I hope BMW is paying you for showing how awesome this bike is. That slowmotion bit at the end looks like a man riding his horse. You can see the moustache and stiff upper lip through the helmet.
Remember, horses are a touchy subject with the Baron. I'd be careful to mention them, if I were you ;)
Baron with 2 uploads my life just gets better :)
Considering on getting one yourself?
It fits you better than the massive GS imho...
Would you do a vid on how you transport the bikes in your van?
Any special fixations or so?
Love the random slow-mo at the end, killer beats!
you should of come to snetterton yesterday. it was an open track. taught you were there because there was a green Bhanstormer just like yours :-)
Great video for perspective. It stands up well to sports bikes given the extra comfort it gives day to day. Well done, thanks for sharing.
Yes! New Baron Von Grumble video just in time for my morning dumps
Could anyone please tell my why he put tape on the S1000XR's headlights and on his Honda's mirrors at 4:50? Thanks :)
I agree, phenomenal bike, I rode one up in the Lakes, blitzed it ... Very good bike, can't do without my GS though so I'll have to skip .... Got my RR2 blade for kicks
Great stuff BVG. Great footy and some enlightening comments to boot.
Great review. I did buy it for a street bike, but look forward to taking to take to a track day as well for fun. Any thoughts on the high speed wobble at 140, tires, set up or just the bike?
thanks for another really well produced and informative video baron :) looking forward to seeing the next.
Came across this vid; test drive that beast, so much character and it keeps asking you to push it. At the time I wasn't ready (2years ago) but by the end I'll take one in my stable.
Own and still love this bike on and off track. Not sure about your bike, but my XR actually has a ‘track mode’ for lap times and such…
MMMMMMMMMMMMM The Blade. Haven't seen it in a while. I'd love to see more of it if you ever get the chance. What a sexy bike it is.
Maybe I'm wrong, but it looks like you have the screen in the high position, mine weaves much more if the screen is in that position

I wonder if the KTM Super Duke GT will be able to keep up. I am getting another bike want to know which is faster in a straight line.
Holy shit. 2 Baron videos in two days?! And then that other one with Lamb Chop?
I can't handle any more!
redbartman Try eating a Double Bloody Decker to feel better!
hi baron ,ur videos rock u give a accurate review of bikes . Any recomendation for steering damper?? I lose the front up 220km/h.
:/

Finally an English motorbike vlogger!!
Great content man, cool to see this bike on the track!
The last time I rode around there was on a bicycle and I was about 11 yrs old. We got as far as the control tower where we got collared and taken to see the Station Commander. "What are you doing on my airfield?!!" he bellowed. when he found out both our Dad's were pilots he put us in the back of a Land Rover with our bikes! lol
Baron... The "You're cool man! Surfer dude" Hand signal is the Shaka... Shaka!!!!
Those clutch less shifts sounded so sweet.
I'm curious how the Yamaha FJ-09/MT-09 stacks up against this bike. I realize since its a cheaper bike, it likely wont be as good, but curious how it is for the money you pay for basically the same style of bike.
The thumb and pinky thing is the "hang loose" gesture.
Hey baron good vid! By the way do you think it's possible to do a track day like this with the 2015 multistrada? Or is that bike too bulky?
I didn't think I would but I really like that bike.
Are you moving your ass of the seat at all, scraping knee or just staying pretty much neutral? I didn't hear you scraping which makes me think you must have been dragging knee.
How is this happening? Two videos in succession!?
That Joanna F Benz with you at the beginning Baron?
heyy baron I have a question for you:
What does a trackday cost for you? - I mean trackfees and stuff...
Btw: I love your vids! :D keep it up! ;)
Elsimon NC depends. Anywhere from £60 for a low end circuit to £200 for Brands GP. Then tyres, fuel, transport, food, prostitutes.
ahh ok thx :) - quite an expensive thing to do...
Elsimon NC yep, especially if you do a set of tyres a day..
oh... yeaa... so we should better appreciate what you do for us! ;) :D
***** the prozzy is the cheapest one there ;)
Whiz-bang vid Baron. I suspect it is the screen causing aerodynamic oscillations at high speed as it is angled so high and flat (search von Karman or flat plate vortex shedding for analogy). That is unless if felt like it was coming from the chassis. Keep em coming!
Great vid Baron :),
Just wondering if there's a 2nd part to the R1 review coming out in the future?
***** Hi Mr Von Grumble. Fantastic videos I really enjoy watching your stuff so please keep me entertained! Just a quiery.. what set up do you use on most of your videos please? Meaning what camera, what microphone etc because they're great quality..
Stay safe and thank you in advance :)
What about the Multistrada? Does it perform that well on the track?
mm that wobble thing is interesting point you shown because i hate it when you take high speed turns, but it can happen with any type of bike not only trails and i prefer to avoid it. I have lucky my sv 650 s is a rail link at high speeds
Hi Baron....do you mind me asking which company you used for trackday insurance and did they cover 100% of the value? I'm dying to take my RR on track but can't afford to bin it?!! :-/ Cheers
bumpedy bump! :)
More I learn about the XR the more I'm liking it
The wobble probably had a lot to do with the wind pulling on the wide handlebar and arms
Thank you... BaronVonGrumble!! Now I think I know why I love my bike so much!!
I tried QuarterMile with it last weekend... (I'm a beginner!) and it did 11,899 and with a pro it can easily do under 11 sec!
Wonder what would happen if you lowered the height?
One of your best reviews , That speed wobble concerning.
(Update) KTM 1290 GT could beat ?
+Darrell N i think its an aero thing cause by the screen - but yes, still not ideal.
+BaronVonGrumble I would agree it's an aero issue, or so it seems.
I wonder if it just the tires you are running but have not felt that wobbly
Nice to see the track footage
& abilities,
;)
Seems like a capable machine
Baron whats the crack with you and jojo then?
Been wondering the same. She was in the beginning. She probably did all the extra camera work too. But I'm not one to dig. I'm glad they hang all the time.
+Jid M think we're all wondering this but it's not really our business
+Billy Collins stop being a nob jockey!
+MaD MoFo LOL
MaD MoFo I cant be the oly one to notice the JoJo sticker appear on the bike at the end of the vid then?
Flipping awesome. Did that one have esa?
How do you flick anime over that quick!
I wonder how that would compare with the multistrada
Finally a proper speed test. Have already ordered one:)
Cool tune at the end, what was it?
He was throwing you "The Shaka"! Originally from Hawaii.
The thumb and the pinky is a New Zealand thing I think. It's used as a greeting/goodbye or encouragement I think. Someone from NZ correct me if i'm wrong. **Hawaiian, Hawaii*
SV650Dude It's Hawaiian. Known as the 'shaka' it's been adopted by surf cultures everywhere and thereafter adopted by all kinds of folk.
***** Thats the one, Hawaiian. They are both nice places I got confused.
Can someone tell me what leathers was he wearing?
your grade for the s1000xr ?
bike is beautiful, love your reviews
The S1000XR is that guy in the circle that is always calm and collected, and takes care of the rest of the guys when they drank too much, but secretly he can chug an entire bottle of vodka and be unfazed
Interesting the thing about the knock-on effect for the next.. 5 ahead if you get it wrong!! Its true, but MotoGP they always seem to recover pretty immediately.
I think the finger and thumb gesture means 'no worries'.
You re so good on track :D, Im a huge fan from India :), the wobble is crazy, maybe lower the screen!?
does it come with a steering damper as standard?
I don't imagine you would have had the suspension setup for a test ride, some of that movement under brakes could be suspension problems. Killer bike for the road for sure.
What was the tape for on the side of the Fireblade?
+Niels Kersic to hold it together!
u r making it increasingly more difficult for me not to get one - my wife would leave me but hey I would have a new bike - love the end music lol
Awesome vid, chapeau riding there mate.
Baron great vids. ... I watch with my son both of laugh are asses off ...your cursing sounds so much cooler then here in America lol
very professional commentary.
little finger and thumb is a shakas and is a like respect sign in the same way a fistbump is like respect
liam abbott You were first! Please tell us how you feel.
I feel like putting my pinky finger and thumb out and shaking my hand
There is a sticker on the right side after the race :s.
Someone wanted to make some advertisement!
Haha, Great video, loving the S1000XR!
Wow really enjoyed that Video. What a bike, I want one.
soo is this his bike or what? can somebody give me a list of all the bikes he owns???
Hey! This Video was published on my Birthday. Tight.
Nice review... Can´t wait for the next one
Do you still have the KTM?
That is one of the best BMW bikes I have seen for me, I would enjoy a ride like that, would make a great touring bike!;-)={ it has great ergos when compared to some sport touring bike for sure. Went to a another website to see more about the bike, and it has better than average gauge cluster, with a proper tack, not liking the all digital types so many now have. Thanks. yl
The real question is... is it better than you GSXR at green laning?!
Baron, pinky finger out, thumb extended, gentle upright wave of the hand means hang loose brah. SoCal surfer thing.
Or, in Hawaiian culture it's called the Shaka sign. Still means hang loose though :D
Considering its a comfy 2 up tourer it did good on the track and if I wanted to replace my fazer this would be the bike I wantedLove your vids
It looks like there is a bit of a head shake accelerating on the straights.
Saw that too. That bike comes standard with a steering damper. I guess I now know why.
Dynamic Pro Mode?
What's with the duct tape?
I bought one, Love it !
That little finger/thumb symbol is called the shaka
Oh you Sneaky sneaky Mr baron with your extra endy...
Hang on, why am I adding "y" to everything like a sweet little girl? Someone slap me
Red Renna slap but you like it, lol
You are a really good rider.
What a sweet bike!
speed wobble ??
