The Underrating of Kare Kano Has To Stop

- Too many people are skipping out on what I would consider the best animated romantic comedy of all time on the basis of the overblown disappointment of its at-worst-mediocre final stretch of episodes.
Now I'm waiting for Rebuild of Kare Kano.
I'm definitely NOT looking forward to Kare Kano: Brotherhood
@@lodevijk KareKano: Sisterhood on the other hand... !
Same here.
It wouldn't be the same with Anno
Kare Kano 1.0
Dorohedoro, Kare Kano: You can (not) readapp
And the soundtrack. The goddamn soundtrack is wonderful too.
The soundtrack literally gives me chills from how amazing it is and how much it adds to the show
Right? The soundtrack is what really emphasizes every episode.
shiro sagisu is a fucking genius
And played the soundtrack in the car the other day and right away one remembers the scenes. 28 years later !!!!!

Anno can't catch a break when it comes to endings, man
Lasspeng right, he canf catch a break
One time he did: "Gunbuster".
Yeah, I guarantee that list was just written as clickbait for people who've been drawn into the new Fruits Basket anime since it's a shoujo readaptation. That's literally it.
Anime News Network is trash anyway.
Kare Kano is one of my favorite anime. I love how many characters there are and the depth they have. They feel like real characters rather than tropes or stereotypes like in a lot of current anime.
also Veronica Taylor (Ash Ketchum) voices Yukino
I would love to watch Veronica’s portrayal of Yukino, but Arima’s English voice takes me out of the experience.
If someone can just insert Veronica’s voice in the subbed episodes, then I would be happy in checking it out.
@@jnes3736 lol, Arima's voice does bother me but I got used to it I guess.
@@jnes3736 Can't hear the nigga.
I think Anno's adaptation elevated it above the source material. When I read the manga I was not impressed. Kare Kano's energy, humor and wonderful OST opened up a whole new host of genre's/settings for me. Before Kare Kano I'd been a strict sci-fi, space opera, fantasy kind of guy. After Kare Kano I started being open to shoujo, romcoms with high school settings etc..
Granted, considering how badly Gainax ended it (those last 3 or 4 chapters were just sleepwalked through), a remake might be in order.
The comedy is something I really liked it definitely had chuckles out for me, the weird directing techniques definitely helped amplify some of these scenes
ChasingPerspective I personally enjoy the manga, but then again I have always been a romance fan. I think the manga is nice to read especially if you want to see a proper, “conclusive” ending. I think it has its own sort of strengths, such as characterization and story progression; but the anime definitely carries its strengths in a new, fantastical way. The direction really builds a new sort of character to the story and the comedic scenes were always a blast, such a-shame the author wasn’t too fond of its writing because the comedic aspect definitely gave it charm! It’s a beautiful adaption. It saddens me to see people are too close-minded to give it a chance because of its last few episodes.
Elijah Lawson If Twin Peaks can have a 20+year gap between seasons we could have a season two for His & Hers Circumstances anytime. Maybe a short OVA to wrap up the school-play-storyline. That way season two can be the Arima story that takes place in his&hers last year of high school. This time jump would explain how everyone’s voice sounds different too.
After watching the anime I went out and bought every volume of the manga. I didn’t do that for any other story (maybe Battle Angel Alita)
THANK YOU for the past 7 years this show has been my favorite and i JUST FINALLY BOUGHT IT ON DVD GOD BLESS
Absolutely. Kare Kano is in my Top 10, too, despite those final episodes. It's just too damn good. So I've been spreading the word as well.
When there's something to enjoy about an anime, going in and enjoying it and stopping when it's not fun anymore seems like a better option than to pass on the entire thing or telling other people it's not worth it.
Penkeychain if you stop watching at episode 24 (I would argue) that’s more satisfying than 18 or 26. I’m watching the 24th right now to check.
I just hope that Anno leaving on episode 18 didn't prevent opportunities of him directing more TV anime beyond it. He's had some shit luck in the past when it comes to it. Nadia basically destroyed him, Eva was apparently a nightmarish production and he got into a dispute with the Kare Kano author mid production. Something tells me if things had gone by a little smoother then perhaps he would have had a little more confidence in doing more TV work. But I could be wrong. Just the impression I get from someone who has been frustrated with the industry numerous times when having a distinct vision of it.
Dunno, it was actually his last work for TV, then he just directed movies. Kinda tragic
I have tried to tell people this is the perfect show to watch after NGEvangelion. Yukino Miyazawa begins the show almost as isolated as Shinj Ikari but she forms a relationship that transforms her life. Both are amazing shows but one is definitely more uplifting then the other.
my biggest complaint with kare kano is : the unecessary number of re-cap epiusodes and the lack of a "payoff"
I also hate that destination over the journey mentality where anime fans say the show is amazing because it has a ending or some crap.
Personally a show destination is nothing without the journey meaning the characters better grow as people through the series.
That's one of the reasons why I disliked romcoms like Real Girl, Love Hina, Clannad, Kimagure Orange Road and (Unpopular opinion) Maison Ikkoku so much because not only I hated almost the entire cast for theses shows but they expect they happy endings to cover up they bullshit journeys that is filled with contrived misunderstandings and horrid character chemistry.
relate
im one of those destination guys. and im gonna be honest, there are series, books, and stories i enjoyed, that had bad conclusions, some didnt even end at all. however, to me, the destination is more than a handfull of chapters, it is the culmination of what came before, and i just cant bring myself to relive something i know will leave a bad taste in my mouth.
so its less that i dont care about the voyage, but that i want the ending to feel rewarding, instead of making me feel like i wasted my time.
I really agree. Before watching it, I heard ending was crap but after I watched it all I could think was 'This is a bad ending?!' Like I can agree how someone would get angry, but I wouldn't even call it a bad ending.
Anyways I really need to rewatch it in original version because when it was broadcasted in South Korea, the sex/kiss scene was edited out which may have affected my viewing experience
This should have been a main channel video
The show’s months away from getting an HD remastering from Khara that I pray is as amazing as the NGE remaster. That might serve as extra incentive to get the show on every streaming site and reaching a whole new audience.
Nah. It's not a remaster, they showed some screenshots of it and it's literally just a shitty upscale of the DVD version. It looks pretty bad.
@@wish-pieces They uploaded the intro of the show and that bitch looks HDDDDDD so we shall see when it comes out
Hate romcoms/romance anime, but KareKano is fantastic. Characters actually feel like human beings and the romance has the most realistic progression ive seen. I feel like so many romance anime are building up to the confession or the big romantic moment (which some shows dont even fucking get to), while KareKano instead gets all that out of the way immediately to focus on the characters and their chemistry along with the people around them. This allows for the romance to feel so much more deep and meaningful since its not just about why they fell in love, but also the obstacles and challenges that come along with starting a relationship. It’s just simply more genuine than its contemporaries, and not to mention gainax and anno adapts it perfectly
Kare Kano focuses a lot on psychological introspection on characters thoughts and feelings on them all facing issues and developing. Other motifs worthy of note include the use of establishing shots to provide visual cues and symbolise the emotions of the characters.I really appericate that from Kare Kano
Kare Kano was great because of Hideaki Anno's brilliant direction and editing. Kare-Kano's story and source material however is flawed just not much to it when you get down to it specially middle way through.
im gonna be honest here, im of the completely opposite mind, to me, the source material is what made it so great to begin with. since that's where the core of the romance came from.
@@marcosdheleno Exactly, i fully agree. The anime for me left much to be desired and I ended up reading the manga and fell even more in love.
Thank you Zen
That ANN article must come from the same mentaility where people ask for remakes of things that are already amazing. The most annoying is for video game remasters for games which are already out and avaliable and cheap. Can people even name 5 remasters that haven't been fuck ups?
Great video. It is now 28 years since it was ceeated. I have listened to the lady who did the voice yukino , Japanese. Her background story is interesting. The music is epic. What i have read they will not do a reboot. ❤
I think the manga releases had overtaken the end of the anime by the time I finished watching, so I was disappointed it didn't get to the play arc, or Tsubasa's romance, the final resolution with Arima's family, or even finish Tonami's whole deal. But that doesn't diminish that Kare Kano was some of Anno's best work. If someone does try to adapt it again, the show would probably be a mixed bag in comparison.
The show ends at episode 18. The show doesn't "fall apart". The final 8 episodes are experimental.
I enjoyed Kare Kano a lot more than I thought I would. The only reason I checked it out in the first place was because I liked Eva so much and was curious how that guy would do a romcom. It's especially surprising since I usually hate the over-the-top wacky shit in anime (especially things like Gurren Lagann or Kill la Kill. Man, those are groaners). So far, I'd say this and FLCL are the only ones to really do it well. Anyways, I really connected to the characters in this show and actually cared about Arima and Miyazawa's relationship. Anno seems to have a knack for empathizing me to his characters (for the most part). The introspective moments always sucked me in, much like they did in Eva, and I have a feeling Anno wanted to do this show so that he could continue the stuff he was doing in Eva while still cooling down from that series' heaviness. While I did notice a slight drop in quality in the last few episodes, I think the new guy still managed to make it work well enough. Honestly, I agree with your feelings on the latter bits, in that they're still good, but feel unresolved in the end. I was at least expecting that we would see the play they were working on, and at least have an ending that showed that "while the story isn't over, it's ending for now" or something. But overall, I quite enjoyed this series and I'm glad that I saw it.
People wanted the "Steel Snow" story arch, I think. It was like a story within a story, and many people loved that play, and the different way it affected the MCs. But I agree with you. Its Still fully worth the watch.
KareKano is great. And ending is pretty nice. This anime needs more love.
Exactly my thoughts! I think Anno really made the show release it's full potential. His directing really made the show so relatable and intense, brought it to that grande finale - of course Tsurumaki had a damn hard job in continuing. It is hard to let the rest of the story flow nicely. I've rewatched Kare Kano several times now, and if I really treat episodes 1-18 and 19-25 as their own stories, I definitely come to like the last ones, too. Tsurumaki's work wasn't as intense, yeah, but it surely is unique in it's storytelling and adds an over all softer feeling to the show. It is not bad when looked at it separately. Giving Kare Kano a remake is probably one of the most unnecessary and damaging things they could do to the story. To me, it will always be unparalleled. Hideki Anno really knows how to visualize feelings well, I wonder if a remake could ever reach that level.
If the last 6 episodes were aired later as OVAs as additional stories and the Anime were had ended at episode 18 nobody would complain.
For me, its just a rom com shoujo with drama sprinkled here and there. But I just never found it special, like many anime fans and anime "critics" do.
It definitely has stop, Kare Kano is one of the greatest anime ever!
I watched the first episode only a couple of days ago and was so impressed that I immediately started sharing the show with others and still haven't even gotten to the second episode yet.
Digibro: "people say that Toradora is the best romance anime. rrrrRRRRAAGGHHHH, IDIOTS. YOU FRICKING FRICKS NEED TO STOP HATING ON KAREKANO."
“TORADORA IS GARBAGIO”
toradora never did it for me, specially the anime, it felt like "and then she fell in love", out of the blue, and with no real growth.
if i were to pick a better romance, i think something like lovely complex, ore monogatari or kimi ni todoke. and from the newer seasons, something like working!!!, takagi or even relife.
Maison Ikkoku is my favorite rom-com, but Kare Kano was so good too.. I think the ending made it for me, even though people seem to dislike it, by which i mean the last couple of episodes.
I think just the 2010s kids are the ones talking about not liking it, it's probably more of a hidden gem than underrated because millennials don't want to watch anything before 2010
idk man, i thought the first 4ish episodes were the best 4ish episodes of pretty much any show, but then every character except the main characters were annoying (mainly since they stayed around forever (i had to put it on 4x for most of the rest)), then i stopped after whichever episode was the one with all the crazy cool weird paper animation (which was awesome). if Hidaeki Anno wanted to remake it i’d be down for that.
Breh you got vitamin D in the back but close the window curtains to hide the sun hahaha
The entire point of rebooting something (other than cynical profit) is because it had a cool idea but didn't reach its potential. The Tick is a fine example of something that both needed a reboot and got a good one.
Rebooting Kodocha would be a disgrace.
Especially when some of the later chapters were too edgy and completely loses all its charm.
Sana in my opinion is way less likeable in the manga and many of the chararters in the manga don't even develop all that much compared to they anime counterparts.
I think reboots are hard though when the art and music was so amazing already. If they did Kare kano in a new art style and hd to make it look modern, THAT SHIT WOULD BE SO BAD. There is a certain charm it has because of the fact its old, it would get ruined if they tried again
I think Anno made a brilliant compromise over the last few episodes of Kare Kano considering the turmoil the production had at the end, I too initially didn't like having a new arc be set up and the unresolved, but I eventually liked the fact that it has this "life goes on" sort of thing, that the struggle of finding love and happiness is a cycle that will repeat forever, and Yukino and Arima are just a small glimpse of that cycle. They couldn't have ended the show much better than that, short of having a definitive ending (which would not be extraordinary) or continuing the source material, but both of these options were off the table. My only gripe was it got a little slow for some of the artsy episodes, but still one of my favorite shows to this day.
Also, the soundtrack is phenominal and the dub is actually good (Arima's English VA is initially a bit flaky but gets much better over time)
3:30 - wow! I really should check this show out, I guess I'll go look it up on nyaa no-
3:40 - oh G O D D A M M I T, I couldn't stop it fast enough ;_;
I don't blame you Digi, but that *was* something I'd rather not have spoiled. Oh well.
it's a beautiful scene anyway
But now your mind will fill in HOW the characters get to that point, so when you watch the show you'll pick up on little hints leading up to the finale and have a bunch of "oh! I get what the author was going for here!" moments...
TL;DR Spoilers can be good sometimes! ;)
Mash5a know your sacrifice was not in vain as I saw this comment before getting spoiled.
Also thanks for mentioning my favorite romcom series Kodocha.
If the show ever gets a remake I don't it to be too edgy like its manga counterpart (which I wasn't a fan of some of the later chapters after the anime cut off) plus I don't want it to be done by J.C Staff after they screwed up Index 3, Food Wars S3, UQ Holder and Date a Live S3
If anything Kodocha remake should be done by Studio MAPPA, Bones, or 3Hz.
If its Cloverworks, Pierrot, Post 2017 J.C Staff or A.1 I'm going to riot.
P.S Kare Kano is my second favorite romcom series while Marmalade Boy, Skilled Teaser Takagi San, Nana, Toradora and High Score Girl are behind that.

I definitely agree that KareKano is underrated, but I do feel that Lovely Complex and Kimi ni Todoke come close to being as great of anime Rom-Coms as Kare-Kano; I put them in the same grouping in fact, but that's based on my ow preferences as well, and neither of those I mentioned came close to the unique visual styles KareKano experimented with.
Lovely Complex is great and about Kimi ni Todoke, personally I couldn't get in to it . It's cute but it felt to slow for me, and I was more irritated with it than I enjoyed it... so I dropped it. Its looks fun just not for me

The only thing holding kare kano back for me is just how much god damn recap is in even just the first 18. Also the litteral moving manga of episode 26 is rough and doesn't have the same creativity put into say episode 26 of eva making it a bad episode imo. Still it's one of the greatest of all time and if anno or someone equally as talented(shaft talent perhapes?) ever got their hands on it i would gladly go bankrupt supporting it.
I found the final episode funny if you see it as a really passive aggressive fuck you to the mangaka. "you didn't like how it differed from the manga? well is this good enough then?" and then they just show the manga.
I don't know if the panels in the anime are the same as in the manga, but I like to imagine that it is and that they just did it to tell the mangaka off for ruining the anime.
The best part about being subbed to Digi is when he throws out love for Kare Kano. It's an anime I got into almost a decade ago after I finished Nana and was looking for something similar. KK is also the last anime I watched, I can't find any shoujo to top it.
Nana anime what a experience
Yukino Miyazawa
The QUEEN OF VANITY
Yeah I agree, I would've like to see the rest of the manga adapted by hideaki anno but there's no point to adapting or remaking if its not gonna be made by him. It would be like wanting another season of mob psycho by another studio, if it's not made by bones, and the season 2 finale was a satisfactory conclusion, then there is no point.
I always will wish the series was completed :(
I love this show to death and could not agree more with the thoughts you have expressed here people need to stop sleeping on this show it is shameful that so many have not seen it
But what if Anno directs the remake.
Asking the real questions.
I didn’t hate the episodes after 18
It just felt kinda weird for them to continue with it and then kinda just abruptly stop it
Even more weird they end it on a different note than the protagonists
In a sense it felt like setting up for “the next story” with how they portrayed it though
But it simply never happened
Holy shit, couldn't agree more dude, best anime ever(if you count only the 18 episodes).
And the guys who were in production has a channel of all the anime they've worked on. Especially Kare Kano with English dub.
The Manga is good in it's own right. That's were Kare Kano being underrated. But yeah, the Anime doesn't need a reboot, it's great just the way it is.
@Shaman X Ok that's your opinion. My is that the manga is great.
The soundtrack is literally my favorite 👁👁
watched the anime after this video and it was great, thanks 👍. Definitely the best romcom I've seen despite the ending and It has one of the most memorable OP and ED too.
Who ever called Kare Kano a Train wreck must have been high.
episode 19 was my favourite episode of the show
That episode is very funny. The animation was a nice change of pace
It would be nice if Hideaki ano could just continue from where the anime left off instead of readapting it. This will never happen of course but I can dream.
I watched the first 2 episodes here on TH-cam and they where both great I hope one day to finish it
I get you, there is just to much of good stuff... but that isn't a bad problem)
Very well said
i love kare kano because of the type of romcom it was and making a reboot or whatever would pretty much give iconic series a bad name.
The Kare Kano manga turns to shit around the time that the anime ends tho... I love Kare Kano too!
>vitamin D capsules
Just open your windows in the morning and bask in that
Its definitely the best romcom anime
And btw
This is definitely a good review
I think the only reason people ask for shows that are already good to be remade is because they want the property to become relevant so that they can talk about it again. I think one of the few useful purposes of such a remake is to move a very old show out of some newer viewers "too old to watch" range.
I've heard that the author of the manga didn't want a second season because she thought Gainax's adaptation was "focusing too much on comedy over the romance". Classic case where mangakas not only don't anticipate that anime adaptations of their work can and a lot of times end up deviating from the source material (even if only in tone rather than content) but also think that they're disrespecting their work when that happens.
The comedy was great. The drama was treated in an uncommon way but most of the time it was just fine. Autor should be thankful Anno did a hilarious work out of that thing
Karekano isn't different from Eva in terms of endings: both the show simply polarises two different ways of ending a story as if you are free to choose how the story should end, if with a happy conclusion or not. Anno just leaves to you what you really feel
Bring anno back for s2, we playing the longhaul
I feel like shit cause I overdid it yesterday at the gym cause Nate keeps motivating me so much and now my arms hurt like shit, the perfect time to listen to my favourite hobo rant about something I never consumed, as usual.
Kare Kano was one of my first anime when I was only 5 years old. Good times.
If only I could find literally any way to watch it legally

I love karekano❤️❤️❤️
I wanna watch something similar, what do you suggest? I'm looking for something that has the relationship between the characters feeling real
Kadocha is as far as it gets when it comes to similar.. but the comedy is way over the top a little more.
Maybe a sequel that continues the story where it left off (and having Hideaki Anno direct that sequel)
ok, but even if I'm sold and want to watch this show, and stopped watching this after the spoiler alert, where am I supposed to be able to watch it???
Romcom where it doesn't take a century until "I like you", and they go so far as to do it, and it's handled well, and lacks all the post-Love Hina cliche-terrors? I'm going to watch KareKano.
- again! -
I'll definitely go check them out
I haven’t seen all of the anime, but I have read the manga. It honestly gets so much worse where the anime adaptation drops off. It’s particularly disappointing because the first third of the manga or so (which is what the anime adapts) is top notch.
Preach
Can you send e link for the episode.. eng sub pls..
It's my favorite anime. ❤ so many laughs and crying....
Haven't watched karekano but it's on the watch because of x director list. I've slowly been working through annos repertoire.
Side note I spent today catching up on the rant holes while recovering from a hangover. Took 8 hours but you cured me Digi, I feel like 60% human now.
Best Hideki Anno production for sure.
It's not like readapting it erases the original show from existance, some people might like a pottential new version for different reasons thanthe rest of the people like the first show, both FMA and HxH have two adaptations and both of them are fine to have as your preferred one, i don't see any harm on readapting the original manga, best case scenario that means that it will bring more attention to the first version
I totally agree Digi. I really loved this series when I first watched it, and still do. I bring it up anytime I can haha.
I also just saw that article and it made me mad. If you ever think that an anime directed by Hideaki Anno ever needs a readaptation or a remake then you need to stop talking about anime!
You say this while Mr. Anno readapted/remade NGE into the Rebuild movies, should he stop talking about anime?
@@cruzgonzalez7061 If he thinks the Rebuilds turned out better than the original, then yes I think his time has come to stop being an authority. But I feel like Anno is rather disappointed himself at how the movies turned out.
It got me trigged as a Kare Kano and Kodocha fan tbh
@@cruzgonzalez7061 This is the title of the ANN article "6 Shojo Anime That Need a Remake ASAP". The word "need" is what I'm mostly upset about. And yeah, at first I thought that the Rebuild movies were kinda fun but now, after the third film and all the time it takes to finish the fourth film, I think that Anno wasted a lot of time doing something that isn't worth it. Similar to how James Cameron is wasting his time doing the Avatar sequels.
@@TakaCode Me too man. It's like the author of that article didn't appreciate the visual flair and comedic timing both Anno and Akitarou Daichi (Kodocha and 2001 Fruits Basket director) put into these old shoujo properties.
Having seen so few anime rom-coms I have no reason to deny that kare kano is potentially one of the best of the genre. That being said I still feel as though you are overrating it, it's extremely creative in it's visual story telling and direction, It does a great job making the characters both believable and empathetic and it's comedy moments are masterfully delivered, but.. it's a rom com. It doesn't do anything particularly inspired. It's great at being what it is but what it is isn't that great. Don't get me wrong I've enjoyed the hell out of it so far (i'm 9 episodes in) but beyond entertainment it has provided little else for me. I would genuinely love to see a more in depth explanation of what you value in the series since I'm still not sure I fully understand your perspective. Anyway stay awesome.
Possibly the most pretentious comment ever. Entertainment IS what matters, by far more than anything else. Themes are overrated and are only the cherry on top for shows that are incredibly entertaining/engaging. (Also basically everything has some kind of theme, the complexities of 2 people forming a relationship is definitely interesting and there's more than just that, that can be explored in "just a rom com".)
"But what it is, isn't that great." Fucking kek my dude.
@@jayterra2585 Entertainment IS what matters? don't make me laugh. By that logic Micheal Jackson is better than Mozart. You have weak taste my dude, I would suggest broadening your horizons since you clearly have no idea what you are taking about. Also I never said kare kano or any other rom com lacked thematicism I eluded to the fact that it's thematicism is less valuable.
Wait you think Mozart is better than Michael Jackson? Pleb alert
@@zachattack2746 Nope you just lack reading comprehension. You have utterly mischaracterized my point. It's not less valuable for being a rom com, it's themes are less valuable because they provide less depth/intellectual stimulation/artistic merit to the audience. This is a common but as I'm sure you would be quick to point out not a necessary aspect of rom coms. regardless the point stands.
@@zachattack2746 The point being made I think is that it doesn't change the way he thinks about the world, or make a super interesting/agreeable point, or change the way he thinks about story structure or anything like that. If it did that, it would be "more than" a romcom.
Well, I was paying a lot of attention and then Digi drops a big spoiler around minute 3... FUCK
Totally!!!!!!!
I always considered the last episodes as some kind of OVA specials. And that fixed all bad taste completely.
"Best fucking romcom"
Weird flex, but ok
I love how a shocking amount of characters have great backstories
I love that fukiing show dude
Kare Kano was fantastic it was the one of the first anime I ever watched thankfully and it opened my third eye as a weeb. Also the dub is really good
Rupin Rococo Oh thank goodness because I really like the dub. I thought I was uncultured😂
I just can't ignore those last 8 Eps. They feel like a disconnect from the rest. Still probably the best Rom-com.
But I always had this question: Why do you “give a pass” to the 6 last eps from KK, but when people tell you that a show “gets good” after x amount of episodes you say that “A good show has to be good or interesting from the start”?
Well... KareKano is the best example I would give of a show that is good/interesting from the start. And Digi has acknowledged the existence of edge cases, like Gintama's first two episodes being low quality filler.
KareKano gets a "pass" from him, because you can just watch those 18 episodes and you've seen a great show. It doesn't even have the Gintama problem, and he likes Gintama more.
Because you can skip the last episodes when it gets bad and enjoy your time. When the first 6 episodes of a show is bad you have to waste your time watching trash to get to the good stuff.
When the last 6 episodes of a show is trash you can enjoy the time you had with it and stop watching after it gets bad.
Bread Eater I really don’t think he’s saying that at all. It seems to me that he sees Kare Kano as good from the start and that after some time thinking over the series and as he said rewatching it he decided the last episodes were good too. Just not on the sane level as previous episodes before 19.
Fullmoon Phantom1412 If he could give that benefit to every show ever.
It is fine to change your opinion about a show. But if you needed a rewatch to see the last episodes as good, that speaks a lot about them.
W A. For me it makes as much sense to skip the last episodes as it does skipping the first. I like to judge products as a whole, counting all episodes.
If you are just looking to have a good time, you could read the first episodes of shows where the consensus is that they are bad.
Sorry for one more comment. I think kare kano is the best romcom. But when seeing others , newer ones , it did set a standard. Allot of good ROM COMS made since but they use more or less the same template as kare kano
Its a superb anime 😍
