As someone who is basically aromantic by nature, I didn't understand what romantic love feels like until I watched this show. No other piece of media has helped me understand as vividly and deeply as this one did. It's honestly on another level. I'm so eternally grateful...
This show might at first seem like your typical, throwaway teen romcom, but believe me, it's waaaayy more. A must-see "deep cut" from the works of one of the Great Masters. Highly recommend it.
@@thatitalianlameguy2235 nah it didn't go that way, the budget was fine but the schedule was messed up cause he had huge artistic divergences with the author of the manga, so he abandoned the production. And nowadays that story too is actually being questioned by many, as he's still credited in the last episodes :O
@@gurdimeikenskjaldi5060 Funnily enough I found the clash between comedy (which iirc from something I read was what Anno was shooting for) and the more heartfelt themes that the author wanted to highlight to be one of the things that make the anime so good. It just works. Well, until the end, then it just wraps up abruptly and nonsensically. I really wish they could have done a full adaptation.

The show doesn't turn bad, actually it sets up a new story that is very interesting... And then it ends. And the finale Is even good on a directing side, but you remain there asking "wait what then? WHAT HAPPENS THEN??" The end xD if the anime ended on episode 18, or maybe on one episode later, epilogue style, maybe the problem wouldn't exist (and yet we wouldn't have something like the amazing episode 19 or the off topic but really enjoyable episode 25)
deciding to cop the entire series physically, in the biggest mood for romcoms and this gives so much nostalgia. sucks it didn’t get a full adaptation tho, although this song STILL bangs

Kare Kano: A tale where a girl and a boy fall in love with each other, but also they heal each other's trauma and shortcomings. The girl does more in this part. SPOILER(It can be found in Wiki): Before they get married because of a shock pregnancy from Yukino, Arima finally resolves his parental issues with his own biological parents. Sadly the anime ended SUPER ABRUPTLY, because the director didn't want to do it anymore.
To be fair, the production was a pure nightmare, even for studio gainax standarts of horrible production's and the last gainax anime for the main head of evangelion/main head for kare kano

Imo this series deserves the Fruits Basket treatment, getting a remake/reboot of the first season and then getting fully adapted.
