7:57 Babymetal did a great cover of the theme song for the first Evangelion film: Tamashii no Rufuran (sometimes called Tamashii No Refrain or Soul's Refrain). It's actually one of my favourite Su-Metal solos.
The composer of Z-GUNDAM's OP2, "Mizu-no-hoshini-Ai-wo-komete", is the legendary American singer Neil Sedaka, who also composed the OP1, "Zeta-Toki-wo-koete", sung by Mami Ayukawa.😉

It’s crazy how fire Japanese animation was in the 70s and 80s was when there was little to no animation programs, it was all drawn by hand and most likely filmed like old Disney films were. Of course there were animation programs I know that but there most likely not programs as advanced as there are now. I wasn’t alive in the 1940s when the first computer came out but I’m sure there weren’t professional programs at our level now days Also crazy to think that majority of the very early anime voice actors, animators, and opening singers are either dead or really fucking old. Animation has came so far, and it also amazes me at the same time with how awesome animation could be 40-50 years ago
Check out the original Evangelion VHS if you ever can. There was this weird shaking everyone called the "Gainax shake" on most of their shows. Just a weird shake where you could see the top and bottom of the image jiggle a little bit for a few frames. Saw in an interview that one of the guys who worked there said it was because their camera rig was second hand and old due to them not having money. And there were train tracks just outside the building beyond the wall it was mounted to. Every time they filmed and a train went by it would cause this slight jiggle that no one would notice until the finished product.
Unfortunately a lot of amazing OPs left off of this. Saga of Tanya the Evil ("Jingo Jungle") and Overlord S3 ("Voracity") by Myth & Roid, Made in Abyss (Kevin Penkin is a god), Slime S2 "Like Flames", several from Fairy Tail, Ya Boy Kongming, other seasons of Attack on Titan. Also a shame this started in 1975 so it couldn't include the original Gatchaman and Speed Racer (in the original Japanese is amazing).

I was front-and-center for the anime boom in the '90s, so a lot of the shows from the midpoint onwards are ones I've got a lot of nostalgia for, even considering their flaws. Can vouch for _Hellsing,_ though the _Hellsing Ultimate_ remaster arguably does a better job -- it's pretty grim at points, and there's one scene in particular that likely _can't_ be shown on TH-cam, but you'd probably dig it. (If you find you like it, _Black Lagoon_ is another one with a similar vibe, albeit closer to _Cowboy Bebop's_ orbit, and _Deadman Wonderland_ is between _Hellsing_ and _Tokyo Ghoul_ in terms of style and tone.) _Naruto_ is solid, and does a really good job with its supporting cast, but it takes a while to really get into its rhythm. It's straight Shonen, though, so if you loved _Hunter x Hunter_ and _DBZ,_ it's worth a watch at least into the Chunin Exam arc. As for missing _My Hero Academia: _*_fix that._* Seriously, dude, it's *_amazing,_* and its openers are *_bangers._* It's easily one for The Heck to react to, and one to bring Chris in on if he hasn't seen it either.

I saw Mr Satan in Japanese DBZ trading cards in 1993. It makes sense because Mr Satan decided the world into believing he defeated Cell. I like a lot of the late 70s to 90s songs from anime such as Space Pirate Captain Harlock, Saint Seiya, Bubblegum Crisis, Cat's Eye, City Hunter 2, Zeta Gundam, Dragon Ball Z/GT, and Neon Genesis Evangelion.
In Denmark we have Mr. Satan too xD In fact, in the Danish localization of Dragon Ball, everyone was swearing up a storm, saying piss and shit everywhere xD

Hellsing is a great horror series. Any song by T.M. Revolution is very very good. The Air opening is top tier. The full version is absolutely beautiful. The official Mashle music video that Creepy Nuts uploaded got 3 million views in the first 30 minutes. It's currently sitting at 101 million. In germany it was Mr. Satan which was quite funny. ^^ And I feel that the english opening to Pokemon should have won that year. Yeah, I know, original opening and all that but dang, the english version is such a banging earworm. And I am surprised that not one of Overlords openings made it on the list. oO Considering how damn good they are. Anyways, great video. ^^
I mean there are a million good Gundam openings. You could probably fill this list up almost entirely with Gundam OPs if you really wanted to. An OP I'm really fond of is the one for SSSS.Gridman, which also has a really good music video, BUT! You have to wait until you finish the entire show before watching the music video itself. For story reasons, which you'll get why when you watch it after finishing the series. It's a song called "UNION" by OxP. If you're fond of giant robots, SSSS.Gridman is what's real good.
Great stuff! TKs First Take lives in my head and will always be the best version to me. Love the Oral Cigarettes song, and yeah Kickback is soooo good, Kenshi and Eve some of my favorites! Cheers for more anime music!
if you wanna watch more of kuma's videos, i'd recommend checking out his new series where he takes a youtubers favorite anime openings and a group of people from his community help him rank them. so far, he has 2 youtuber lists, GOTGames and NicholasLightTV. might be a fun watch, i certainly enjoyed them.
Emotional adventure anime: No6, Tegami Bachi Dark action with gritty drama: D.Gray-man, Saiyuki (skip the fillers and OP2 is bossass), and Chrno Crusade Romance with fluffy love: Kimi ni Todoke, Wotakoi, & Clannad Psychological with thinking games: Penguindrum, Moriarty the Patriot, Zankyou no Terror, and Death Parade Dumb stupid fun: FLCL, Senyuu (Watch the 1st OP online, the actual TV series doesn't show it, sadly), Kokkuri-san, & Needless (Watch the 1st OP) Scifi adventure: Last Exile (Watch the 1st OP), & GATE
First of the North Star OP is just fire, same goes for Saint Seya, heck most dubs of the op are great, the brazilian version of the OP was sing by Edu Falaschi of the metal band Angra fame

Watched the English version of DBZ growing up and he was referred to as both Mr. Satan and Hercule Satan throughout the show It’s also so weird seeing the Japanese versions of the DBZ, Pokemon, and Sailor Moon intros in these lists, because I grew up with the English intros so I have no nostalgia for the versions in these lists
can't believe you haven't watched noragami. it's about a stray god who walks on earth begging for money, so pretty comedic most of the time, but also pretty tense later on. and visually amazing for sure
in fact there is another video that go back to the 60's if im not mistaked. the weapon of cobra is a Psyco gun (only he have one) and the protagonist is a ex space pirate. in english they have censured so many animes, to the point to make them forgetable, Mazinger z (not in this list, if from 1972), Knights of the Zodiac (Saint Seiya), the fist version of One Piece made for 4kids, or a mess like Card captors (Card Captor Sakura), In Mexico even being very religius country, they left the name "Mister Satan". I loved Naruto, is a great anime, but im the end the many filler episodes, made me leave the anime to the point of nickname it "Filleruto" (Rellenuto in spanish.)
In the mexican dub we always had Mr. Satan, whoch is wild because in the fight with Boo everyone would raise their hands for the spirit bomb and repeat "Satan! Satan! Satan!" Lol
Not sure if you’ve ever heard it but feel like you’d like Crying for Rain by Minami. Great anime opening but the full song is just great. Only opening Minami has done but she killed the song and her voice is great
9:40 you should 100% watch Hellsing and if you want to, you should also react to Hellsing abridged which is probably even more popular than the original now days.
I am Japanese. From my perspective, looking back, I feel homesick, but from your perspective, I think you may have found something new and interesting. There is a lot of pressure on diversity around the world and it's a terrible situation, but here we see true diversity. It was born not out of obligation or peer pressure, but out of inner liberation. At times it becomes a sacred space that no one should invade. We must not stop the movement to respect the culture of many people. Japanese anime will continue to be Japanese anime.
Always called him Mr Satan. All songs and anime were awesome. Also do check up LiSA LIVE performance "Believe in Myself" which was the first song she composed. Lyricist and Composer by LiSA herself. She was sick during this LIVE performance with bad cold and bad sore throat but still one of the great performance by her in my opinion. th-cam.com/video/3MoWyq_gBEM/w-d-xo.html Also do check up and react to "Itsuka no Tegam". Both of the songs were sang in the same day in one of her concert. Very nice songs. Check up the lyrics as well especially "Believe in Myself". th-cam.com/video/J6rvuMh6qpA/w-d-xo.html She cried after the concert was overed and blamed herself for not being in good form and let down on her fans.
In Germany we had Mr Satan oh by the way If you Like the japanese openings of Dragonball head over to the German ones its tecnacly the same but translated Into German and a Lot more Rock or the First opening for Dragonball was an edm Track in Germany its worth watching
I understand that because it was pretty slow at first 10 episodes but I have high tolerance and I enjoyed what was given to me and eventually i became hooked with it.
The one from 1980 has such a gap between the opening and the content of the show. The show is dark, depressing and cosmically grim. Plus it contains a child killed by a headshot that blows their brains out. Blurry Eyes (1994) in my opinion is note by note the best opening of the 90's.
the way i didn’t know Lupin III was from the 70s 😱 it became a staple here in PH in the 90s.. and Cha-La Head Cha-La is such an iconic OST.. this is such a trip down memory lane..

Emotional adventure anime: No6, Tegami Bachi
Dark action with gritty drama: D.Gray-man, Saiyuki (skip the fillers and OP2 is bossass), and Chrno Crusade
Romance with fluffy love: Kimi ni Todoke, Wotakoi, & Clannad
Psychological with thinking games: Penguindrum, Moriarty the Patriot, Zankyou no Terror, and Death Parade
Dumb stupid fun: FLCL, Senyuu (Watch the 1st OP online, the actual TV series doesn't show it, sadly), Kokkuri-san, & Needless (Watch the 1st OP)
Scifi adventure: Last Exile (Watch the 1st OP), & GATE
Here in Italy it was Mr. Satan, just so you know :D
First of the North Star OP is just fire, same goes for Saint Seya, heck most dubs of the op are great, the brazilian version of the OP was sing by Edu Falaschi of the metal band Angra fame
John, you're a Dragon Ball child, you HAVE to watch Naruto! It's practically his descendant..and i'm sure you'll love it..also Bleach and My Hero Academia are so good
You forgot one piece
@@Djloui5 I think he watched it! By the way he talked about it, no? Instead for Naruto, Bleach, and MHA, he specified he hasn't watched them.. If i'm mistaken, OF COURSE OP, like, are we joking? absolutely
All are completely different from each other db nothing like nartuo
@@valerialarosa9157really recommend MHA?
Meh
ドラゴンボールのところで、めっちゃテンションぷち上がり。
カワイイ。
In Brazil, we call your Hercules Mr Satan
Watched the English version of DBZ growing up and he was referred to as both Mr. Satan and Hercule Satan throughout the show
It’s also so weird seeing the Japanese versions of the DBZ, Pokemon, and Sailor Moon intros in these lists, because I grew up with the English intros so I have no nostalgia for the versions in these lists
Hercule was a thing only in the North American dub because they felt the original name would hurt viewership and sales.
can't believe you haven't watched noragami. it's about a stray god who walks on earth begging for money, so pretty comedic most of the time, but also pretty tense later on. and visually amazing for sure
in fact there is another video that go back to the 60's if im not mistaked. the weapon of cobra is a Psyco gun (only he have one) and the protagonist is a ex space pirate. in english they have censured so many animes, to the point to make them forgetable, Mazinger z (not in this list, if from 1972), Knights of the Zodiac (Saint Seiya), the fist version of One Piece made for 4kids, or a mess like Card captors (Card Captor Sakura), In Mexico even being very religius country, they left the name "Mister Satan".
Only opening Minami has done but she killed the song and her voice is great
openings & ending for re0, nichijou, bakemonogatari, mahouka koukou no rettousei, kyokai no Kanata (for now)
Dude you must watch Hellsing Ultimate its freaking cool! (Not the first 'Hellsing' but 'Hellsing Ultimate' that's a better remake)
ok bro
9:40 you should 100% watch Hellsing and if you want to, you should also react to Hellsing abridged which is probably even more popular than the original now days.

I grew up in Italy and it's Mr Satan for me
I am Japanese.
I thought his name was Hercule, but his stage name (Wrestler name) was Mr Satan, no?
Honestly, I only knew Hercule from the Tenkaichi game
That like chill remix of the FF7 world theme is great there at the end, where can we find that?
Can you react to Gundam OO ops? The songs are fire!!

Also do check up and react to "Itsuka no Tegam". Both of the songs were sang in the same day in one of her concert. Very nice songs. Check up the lyrics as well especially "Believe in Myself".

She cried after the concert was overed and blamed herself for not being in good form and let down on her fans.
In Germany we had Mr Satan oh by the way If you Like the japanese openings of Dragonball head over to the German ones its tecnacly the same but translated Into German and a Lot more Rock or the First opening for Dragonball was an edm Track in Germany its worth watching
Anime: Frieren, Beyond jurneys end... Season1 did just end. best Anime ever.. by far
Lisa an Kenshi Yonezu in two song, they are amazing
10:03 Frankly, the first few episodes of Naruto have some stuff that almost tries to turn viewers away :D But pretty quick it gets damn good.
I understand that because it was pretty slow at first 10 episodes but I have high tolerance and I enjoyed what was given to me and eventually i became hooked with it.
This is just another list for shonen fans. Anime has so much more to offer
Send me a list you’d suggest and I’ll react to it! 🙌
@@JohnReavesLive I might take you up on that offer.
@@chrisjacobsen7265 would love to hear your suggestions 🙌🙌
Saint seiya OST are so great !!
other later anime : GINTAMA !!!!
Naruto i really like the OP Closer
The one from 1980 has such a gap between the opening and the content of the show. The show is dark, depressing and cosmically grim. Plus it contains a child killed by a headshot that blows their brains out.
Blurry Eyes (1994) in my opinion is note by note the best opening of the 90's.
