I know most of y’all are aware of how the old KCS system worked, but I get several messages and comments asking about them so I figured Id go over them in this video. Like I said these symbols are definitely subject to change. I’ve heard after editing this video that the locals use two Ls in their symbol but Im not sure. Thanks for watching!
Interesting. I have 25 years with CP. Sometimes I shake my head at these knee jerking reactions before things are said and done. Wonderful video and catches. Enjoyed watching and have a wonderful rest of your Saturday.(Steve)
Used to, the letter "O" meant ore/rock train. My favorite symbols the KCS had for trains were the O-SHHT, O-DAMT (Dallas-Monterey [I think]), and the I-DAMT. Yes, there were/are real symbols of actual KCS trains. I would laugh & comment everytime I saw the symbols.
The KCS symbols reminds me of BNSF, and CP symbols are similar to CSX/ NS. At least we have your channel, brother, to keep KCS memories alive!! Great video, brother 👍 👏
Bring out the kleenex box I'm very sad to see the Kansas City Southern disappear and it's going to be terrible to see all these awesome paint schemes on these locomotives also leave eventually. Keep up the great work Bishop. Gary
There's no parallel routes on either railroad as the only place they connect is Kansas City, so I don't see any lines being divested under CP, though it would be a different story if CN took over...
i personally dont think this is a good merger , sounds like CP's jumping the gun with symbols. i think everything will end up in candy apple red witha golden beaver CPKC brand but out on the locomotive CP
I prefer CP taking over rather than CN. CN would basically have a monopoly in Mississippi, and the parallel routes would lead to probably the KCS route being underutilized. Though if we are being honest, I’d prefer neither of them haha!

Great video Bishop, pal! You do notice that once used to be MSHAR, the eastbound mixed freight, is now called M266 due to the merger.

Prime example is SPSF haha! I really appreciate all your comments! You have a good weekend!

I’d have a field day if those were still around haha!
O can also mean oil train
Very cool and informative! Those new symbols remind me of CSX's symbol system. We use a letter prefix, and three digits behind it
Yeah after I finished the video I realized that both CSX and CN have basically the same formats with these. Thanks for watching!
I'm going to miss KCS, :(

Looking forward to more great content 🚂👍🏻😎
Biahop, I really like being informed about being informed on these changes.- Bob
I see the Changes taking Place on the CPKC Thanks for the Heads Up

Always great to see the KCS OCS
Thanks for the new symbols.
Great Catch
I wonder what the new livery will look like? If they use one?
You included the CP oil train Congratulations.
They approved the merger. And it’s def happening.
576 and 577 go right by my house daily on the old CP River Sub. DRUbit trains from and to Hardesty Alberta.
Do you happen to have a list of the new CPKC numbers
Great video!
I wonder how many miles will they shed
I don’t see CP giving up much if any.

The mkcsz is actually M260 now, not M280. The Mshkc is now M261, starting today.
Good joob👍🏼🥇👏
I have a cpkc railroad spike and it’s unique looking it has a small head with HC CPKC $ on top
Similar to CSX in some cases.
I detect a little sadness in your narration. R.I.P. KCS
CPKC symbols, exact same as CSX
And CN as well
Goodbye KCS

I really wish CN would’ve took it. Their colors match

@@LouisianaRailProductions I can agree with that. Neither. Let KCS & KCSM be.
