13 Pro Max to 16 Pro Max. Thus begins my 3 year upgrade cycle. You’re right, Apple is focusing on those who are a few generations back. Gone are the days of yearly innovations that shock the world and get us Apple sheep to camp out for launches.
Well when you've remade the same phone almost 20 times over it gets harder to make monumental improvements. I honestly can't think of something that's missing.
I am in a 3 year cycle myself. In each case, the sluggish touch screen response has been the reason. I al also a sucker for family photos, and camera improvements are not noticeable within a generation or two either.

I bought every year from the 3G to the 5; then 6, 8 Plus to my current 11. Maybe I will upgrade to the 16 Plus, or wait for the SE4, or make only intermediate upgrade to a 14 Plus or 15 Plus.
I upgraded yearly from the 3G through the 7. I skipped the 8, 11, and 13. I have the 14 Pro currently. I’ve been going back and forth on whether to upgrade to just the 16. iPhones are way more expensive over the last few releases, therefore waiting/skipping a model.
lol and guess what, while you are waiting to for that “awesome” iPhone, android phones are enjoying those “awesome” features for years. By the time the iPhone gets it, most of the wrinkles have been worked out.
Back then, you’d see minor improvements in a few areas. A lot of things changed here. Screen size, audio, camera, AI, more RAM on lower end models, much faster, better battery life, new camera button, etc. Basically, everything you do on this phone received an improvement.
Idc what anybody says, I upgraded from the 14 Pro Max and the slight weight decrease, usb-c, log video, AI (when it comes, been beta testing), slightly better ultrawide camera, bigger battery is def worth the upgrade.
Exactly!…but don’t tell that to the anti-iPhone bandwagon or they’ll get offended as they expect the iPhone 16 to be able to fly on its own or to fold into 5 different screens!
I mean, I’m glad all of that is worth it for you, but I’m on my 13 pro max and have yet to see a convincing reason to blow a mortgage payment on slight improvements. If you aren’t a power user and on your phone literally all the time then the upgrades from the 12 pro max to the 16 pro max are not significant enough to make a substantial difference. I’m not a photographer so the camera button seems useless to me as I’ve never had an issue using the volume button and my other hand to zoom. The biggest things my phone needs to do is web search, watch videos, store a lot of music, and occasionally take pictures. Spend your money how you want and do whatever makes you happy. I’m not judging anyone for how they spend their money and you don’t need to justify it to anyone. For me though, even though I can afford the phone comfortably there is just no value in it for me currently. That being said if Apple intelligence turns out to be amazing then I may consider it, but I’ve been burned buying a product based on promises from a company only to be disappointed so I won’t spend the money until they make they’re claims materialize into something tangible.
Wanted to upgrade I had iPhone 4 to 5 then from 5 I went to windows phone and android then back to iPhone for the X, then XS max then 12 mini, to 14 Pro, honestly wanted to get the 16 pro Max but I can’t justify the price for what you get. I don’t care for USB C I charge wirelessly and have plenty of cables lying around. And even more so all the AI stuff doesn’t even come out of the box when they said it’s built from the ground up for AI 😂 I’m just not a sucker. Plus I love the 14Pro purple over all the dull 16 pro colors
Apple missed the biggest opportunity by tying the camera control button to its AI to get an ideal picture based on the subject. It could frame it, adjust the exposure based on the subjecting shot like the moon and handle specialised functions like super positioning or tie existing images from it LMM into the shot to improve it. What a wasted opportunity. I don't need a button for manual controls of camera setting. If I have time to do that, I have time to use the touch screen. I do street photography. I need to grab my camera, frame the shot, set the exposure and take the shot. If I have a Porche 918 approaching on the road I have less than a second to do all of that and get my shot before it has passed. same thing with video. the camera control button should've taking control to get those shots that require more than point and shoot. I still can't point and shoot at the moon and get something that doesn't look like a streetlight. My friend with a Samsung point at the moon, zooms to max and gets a great shot!
I’ve ordered the 16 Pro in natural titanium. I’m upgrading from the XS that I’ve owned from release day 2018. Surprisingly enough it still works great but the camera and battery upgrades are going to be a massive upgrade for me.
I have an iPhone 11 and I’ve been waiting all this time for a significant upgrade in terms of the way that I use the phone. I still may do the 16 at this point but I was hoping for some truly significant eye popping feature like a display on the back
Wait for the 17, rumors say there's gonna be something new to the body. You're fine on the 11 for now, it will still get updates and the changes aren't that big to the 16.
I agree. My last upgrade was from Iphobe 7+ to iPhone 14 Pro Max when it was introduced. I was looking at the 16 and to me not much difference so I’m not upgrading. Now I’m waiting to see what’s coming up for iPhone 17 to see if it will be worth it. Prior to the 7+, I was upgrading every 2 yrs but my carrier offered me a deal I couldn’t refuse when that came out that I decided to upgrade. I’m seeing myself possibly upgrading every 2-4 possibly 5 years. The new features and abilities have to be worth the while and expense.
Example, the first picture taken with 15 pro and 16 pro, they were taken differently. You chose brightness on the 15 more than the 16. It all depends on how you take the pictures that give you different results. That’s why some are called “photographers”
I did like you. I went from the 15 pro max to the 16 pro because I wanted a smaller phone for my hand and pocket. I absolutely love it. I tried the 16 in the store demo but that 60 hertz refresh rate made using the apps feel real sluggish. I’ll never use the camera button so I disabled it in settings.
I’ve kept my iPhones an average of 4 years since the 5 came out. I’ve gotten good use out of each and loaded them with pictures. Upgraded to a 16 Pro Max from the 11, so am loving the upgraded camera and larger screen!
Fun experiment. Try to scan in Notes with the 15 pro and compare doing that with the 16 pro max. I know, I know...but I have to scan a lot. And the differences are HUGE. My point being, I wonder how many more 'small' huge differences are more noticeable for people who do 'weird stuff' like scan crap with their phones.
@@foxxrider250r Scanning documents. Open/create a note and tap the triple dot on the top right. You will see scan on the top left of the pop-down menu.
@@foxxrider250r You can scan documents directly in the Notes app. Open a new note and press the paper clip icon. You should have an option to “Scan Document.” It used to be a pain in the butt to line up and time right. It still sucks on my iPhone 15 pro, but works surprisingly well on the 16 pro. The hardware seems to have improved it.
@@foxxrider250r I wrote a response. Not sure where it went. If you go to the Notes app, then press the paper clip, you'll get an option "Scan Document." By the way, I wrote "scan in Notes" not 'scanning Notes.'
Got the 12 Pro Max. I’m happy with it, but I would like an upgrade on the camera, and the battery is starting to really feel its age. For roughly the cost of battery replacement, I can get a new phone with all the features. With carrier incentives, the multi generation jump seems like a no-brainer.
I’m waiting for my preorder 16 Pro Max, which I’ll never preorder again, waiting a month to get your new phone a month after the were released is crazy . Anyway I bought a case for the phone if it ever shows up but what gets me is my 14 Pro Max fits almost perfectly except for the button cut outs. So much for being bigger, I which I would have just bought the 15 Pro Max
Tree leaves are a terrible subject to photograph in order to she a quality difference between the two iPhones, because the leaves are moving in the breeze. Only a very fast shutter speed can even begin to stop their motion. They will never look sharp, in focus. A solid object would be much better to use as the subject for a camera comparison.
I upgraded from the iPhone 11 to the iPhone 16 Pro Max and I’m blown away!! I always wait for a few years at least until my phone begins to run sluggish or my battery is degraded so much that it’s becoming a hassle to plug it in all the time. Apple needs to, I hate to say it, stop yearly releases of the iPhone and make it every 2 years. Then the difference in features over 2 years will seem like a greater difference than from year to year.
I went 13 to 16 Pro. Was afraid of losing any trade in value and wanted a better camera. I could have saved and did 15, but they emphasized that the 16 is designed to work best with the AI which apparently comes out in December
I’m coming from the 64GB iPhone 11 Pro to the 1TB iPhone 16 pro. I plan on purchasing this Friday and hoping they have it in stores. But I’m excited for the tremendous changes in the leap. Long time waiting.
I have an iPhone 12 Pro and just received the 16 Pro. I haven’t started to using it yet, but the first thing I noticed was the camera bump out. Wow! I may need to rethink the case. I’m afraid it’s going to get broken easily. 😫
Review is on point. Especially the shift toward multi-year upgrades. Upgrading from an iPhone 11 yields a bonanza of features including USB-C, MagSafe, WiFi 7, cellular 5G Advanced, Dynamic Island, action/capture buttons, increased RAM, as well as substantial processor boosts - notably the NPU & hardware ray tracing.
I am upgrading from a regular iPhone 12 to the iPhone 16 Pro. For me waiting a few years like three or four has worked well. I went from a 6 to 8 and then to the 12. So I think right now is a good time to upgrade.
Went from 12 pro to 16 pro max and I am very pleased with the upgrade. Battery life, using the camera for work, bigger screen for editing and whatnot. All around made too much sense to not especially with the severely suffering battery life of my 12 pro.
Going to upgrade my 13PM to a 16 PM, also my wife's X to a 16. Both old batteries struggling and want better camera for 13mo grand-daughter photos. Not convinced by the new camera button functions, especially Zoom Great video, thx
Totally agree. We've officially arrived at the point where it's easy to get 3-4 years out of an iPhone. I have a 13 Mini and a XR (personal and work), and I just now upgraded the XR. The 13 Mini likely has a few more years in it for what I do with my phones. Plus, after 4-5 years the upgrades actually feel substantial. It's easy to complain that yearly iPhone upgrades are boring (because they are at this point), but at the same time it's nice to not feel like I need to upgrade every other year. Same goes for Samsung and Google as well with the support they are offering on the new flagships now.
I'm upgrading from a 12 Pro Max to a 16 Pro Max. Big benefits with this jump, the main ones being USB C charging and a chip that will run Apple Intelligence (eventually). I've settled in to a 4-year upgrade cycle which seems about right for me.
In my case I had a base 14, and wanted to upgrade. Circumstances meant that i would have waited until after a trip I where the Pro Max features would have been useful if I wanted the 16 Pro Max. Given the fact that the 15 Pro Max had everything I wanted in an upgrade, and that the Pro models had been through the release teething problems, I simply upgraded to the 16 Pro Max. I absolutely love this upgrade and have no upgrade envy or fomo for the 16 Pro Max.
Thank you for the review! I have several phones on my account, and I recently upgraded my SE 2nd gen to the 16 Pro Max. I agree that Apple seems to be targeting users with phones that are 3-4 generations old, which I think is a smart strategy.
The number one reason I bought the iPhone 15 pro max was the USB C, I hated the apple plug, it never lasts more than 3-6 months. I am trying the iPhone 16 Pro Max to see if the camera upgrades are worth it. I am probably done with new iPhones until something new comes out. I know I won’t like apple AI, it never works right for any company.
I upgraded from this 14 Pro Max to the 16 Pro max.. I sold my 14 PM for $600.00 so the 16 PM cost me $600.00 I buy my phones out right. Ok let's break it down. 16PM big difference battery life, camera button for me , great for quick pictures. Bigger phone which works for me cause I prefer AI with new Siri enhancements , OH one last one , faster charging, so you can't convince me that the 16 Pro max wasn't a good fit to upgrade. Cause for me it ROCKS , I have a M1 iMac and Iwatch 10 as well, So there you go , some of us have no doubt and we don't have buyers remorse whatsoever. ..
I bought the 16 pro max and sold my 13 pro max. It’s really not a lot different but I’m happy with it. The incremental improvements are nice. The always on display, more memory, the magic island thing, better camera etc. I don’t upgrade my laptop every year so why would I upgrade my phone every year (which costs more than a lot of laptops).
lots of complain about iphone,..even iphone 16 series get mocked everyday. old iphone have a lots of problem after update they ios to newest version... many people already switched to samsung, oppo vivo google pixel etc..for some reason people returned iphone 16🤔 lots of people talking about this in every platform...
This gentleman is down playing some of the more significant details for example not only is the screen bigger, but the display is edge to edge which means it’s much bigger than the previous gens
In the case of my country (Peru), people tend to make an upgrade from a very old iPhone (or discontinued) to a previous iPhone. For example: from an iPhone 6 to an iPhone 13. In my case, I’m planning an upgrade from an iPhone SE 3 to an iPhone 15 Pro. So, to do that, we basically watch previous last’s years comparison videos. It’s a different POV about when and where you see the iPhone’s current evolution.
Mobile phones have become more and more a common consumer item like a stove, TV, vacuum cleaner, car, washing machine etc. You don't replace these things every year. The last consumer item to clearly improve year-on-year was the television. Now mobile phones have become "adults" just like TV. And that's nice, because then we don't have to spend so much money every year. We buy out when the item is worn or damaged. Not because the next generation has significantly better functionality.
Tone-mapping makes it the best phone for photography. Even if you prefer Pixel/Samsung you can tweak the algorithm for that look now on top of the class leading sensor + lens. Battery life is still in clear lead even over prior models Best in class performance and graphics Competitive set of AI features assuming it works currently when it launches. Anyone saying this is a non-upgrade just has poor understanding of the smartphone tech industry.
I think you are right. I’m still limping along with an X. Truth be told other than battery health and a propensity to overheat it’s “good enough”. That being said this is the year I finally upgrade. I was on a 2 year upgrade cycle since the 3G, but the X was and is a great phone.
I’ve upgraded from the iPhone 15 Pro Max to the 16 Pro Max for a few reasons… 1) selling the previous year model is easier imo, 2) upgrading solves battery degredation issues plus the new one has a good boost to battery and 3) the bigger screen which to me still looks amazing, especially with the thinner bezels even after 5 days of use and finally 4) the upgraded camera and camera button. Bonus reason would be when Apple Intelegiance comes this will be even better at it as well as that camera controls use for quick look up of things you come across.
Battery degradation could’ve been solved by replacing the battery at a Genius Bar after it hits %90 for 1/5 the price of a 16 Pro Max, the screen is corner to corner one fifth of an inch but that includes edge to edge which means bezel to bezel laser measured it’s only 3.7mm bigger diagonally and the bottom of the Home Screen is t used for anything so your noticing a 2-3mm difference… sure. The features of AI apple is claiming to release later will run easily on a A17 6 year old Samsungs run seamlessly with AI integration and apple will not acknowledge that the 15 is just as good for marketing. All they’ve said so far is photo clean up and writing tools which literally any phone can do the 16 is not going to work better at any of this unless they write the software that way which would backfire on their quarterly earning as so many people are keeping the 15, and the camera is therefore the only Incremental upgrade to the phone and even the most scrutinized reviews have talked about how minimal the upgrade is to the camera except for 4K 60fps slo no which requires an external device and 5gb of storage per 15 seconds of footage. You bought a 16 cause you wanted to have the newest best one and probably upgrade every year . There’s nothing wrong with that just admit it. People don’t buy Gucci because it’s superior clothing they buy it for vanity. People who don’t hunt don’t buy AR-15’s for protection they buy them cause they like guns. Create or buy into whatever reason you want but that’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard stating that 1,2,3,4 like Tim Cooks assistant when none of its actually a reason you bought a brand new phone
Happiness is the only reason for upgrading if that’s what makes you happy cool happiness is important but your upgrading because the newest phone is important for your happiness then which is fine cause those reasons don’t make sense nothing wrong with that though. I buy my phones outright I’m guessing you don’t but I could be wrong, and I bought the 15 promax before Christmas so if I buy the 16 pro max and apple care again that’s $4500 CAD on almost identical phones in less than a year. Now what makes me happy is a round trip ticket to Africa or Japan or buy 5 low income family’s Christmas for their children cause that’s what I could do instead of buying the latest iPhone with a 1mm bigger screen. Happiness is an opinion and opinions are like butholes we all have one
I think to upgrade to iPhone 16 Pro Max. The only thing that could stop me is that it’s very appealing to wait one more year and upgrade to iPhone 17 Pro Max… from my current iPhone 7 Plus… 7 -> 17. 😂
💯 after watching this video in a few others, it has convinced me not to upgrade to the 16. The presentations at Apple every year have become more and more lackluster and they’re squeezing more and more money out of people with giving you less items in the box under the guise of “carbon neutral” or going green. It’s a money grab for this greedy corporation
I still have my iPhone 13 from when it came out, and I honestly have no reason to upgrade from it. It still runs smooth, it’s more than enough for what I do on it, and the camera is not even a big deal. I’ll most likely wait a year or two, after the phone stops receiving iOS updates to upgrade
I have a 13 pro, and my battery is at 99%. I think I manage that by avoiding letting the charge get above 80%. I think from the 15 on you can set it to not charge over 80%
15 Pro Max doesn't seem to get the advanced filters. Which I think is BS. A lot of people (and I know someone personally) complained about how people on photos looked flat or unappealing because the computational photography overblows the highlights. They gave people an option on the new one, so it's kinda dumb that they're gonna tempt some people who care about their photos to get the new one when they can easily put it on the 15. And I'm on iOS 18.1 Beta 5.
I always upgraded every 2 years, skipping the S gen. But I have the iPhone 14 and 15 pros right now and don’t feel a need to upgrade. If I did not get the 15 pro then yes I would get this new phone but I am good with the 15 as my main phone and will see what the 17 gives me
A 6 year old budget phone? Hard to compare honestly. Ofcourse the iPhone will be better in every possible way, but it also costs serveral times more than your P20 Lite..
The 15 Pro photos were clearly better. I’m not sure if this is because of settings or if the 16 Pro photos could have been improved by changing settings but the 15 Pro photos were better in the examples you showed. I’ve seen some other reviews which shows the 15 Pro producing better photos as well. This may require some expert testing and analysis.
I’ve upgrade from a iPhone 13 to the 16 pro. The main reason was the camera and I’m looking forward to Apple Intelligence. But after having it a few days I love the display upgrade too. Outside of that it functions as my regular iPhone 13. Previously I had a 3GS and then upgrade to the 4s to get Siri, my next upgrade was an iPhone 7 as the screen was cracked and it wasn’t worth repairing and then the 13 which I got through work.
Upgrading to 16 Pro Max from the 12 Pro Max, but only because my rule is that I upgrade every four years. Honestly there’s nothing specific about the new one that I NEED. In fact I still think I’m gonna like my volume switch more than that action button. I love to reach into my pocket and know that I’ve just silenced my phone without having to take it out.
I will be upgrading to the 16 Pro Max in a few months. I like to see most of the kinks get resolved in a new item. I will be upgrading from a 13 Pro Max and I usually upgrade about every 3 cycles.
In the photo's I can tell a difference the 16's Look a little darker, not sure if that is good or bad? I upgraded from my 14pro to the 16pro and I can notice a big difference in speed of apps, speed when updating apps and the microphone/speaker is also better in my opinion. For me it was a good upgrade and although there have been some small bugs a few days later and they seem to be working themselves out so maybe it was just still working in the background, also apple is supposed to release some more updates this week or next so will have to see how that does.
I am much like you in that I tend to purchase every flagship iPhone starting with the iPhone 3G. You are right about there not being very many differences between the 15 pro max and the 16 pro max. I think that I will wait for a few years before I get my next version of an iPhone.
I will keep using my SE2020. I still haven't maxed it out to it's capabilities and a replacement battery fitted , I got quoted $70 Australian Dollars. SIRI is suboptimal on it but other than that it still does the job for me .
I’m coming from a iphoneX! I’d keep it lol because of the size but it’s damaged. I went with iPhone 16 Pro but still want a larger screen. I didn’t buy the Max because it’s Not that much of a size difference between, & the 2-other difference’s aren’t impressive enough for $200. between Pro & Max 16. Question, Why did you go Pro vs Max? Same reasons? Now I want help me with my iPad-vs-Mac buy. I’m going into the photography and TH-cam businesses. Thx!
i got the 15 pro last july as a birthday gift for myself because my iphone se 2020 was my daily driver for 4 years, mainly getting phone calls and light social media. i have to charge it twice or even thrice a day since it was 87% in battery health. after i got the 15 pro, i was really surprised by the battery health, only having to charge it the next day, usually falling between 28-23% before i charge it and use my ipad air for a bit. mind you, the 16 pro already had several early leaked specs already and seeing ringke and spigen already posted their cases for the 16 series, those camera button cutout on their cases really do seem off so i decided to get the 15 pro. it seems it's just another button that complicates things. no regrets at getting the 15 pro as there are tons of cases available as well.
That was an excellent review, you hit the nail on the head. The new phone each year is not for us that upgrade every year but for the guy that upgrades every 3 or 4 years.
I strongly believe a major hardware upgrade is a good upgrade point if you are needing one. Not just because you want one. In saying that if you’re happy with what you have, like me (iPhone 13 pro max) keep it if not upgrade. Don’t forget there is a great used market out there that needs some love. If you are going to buy used try get something with apple care plus already. My strong opinion is something like the 11 pro to 16 pro or even 15 pro but 12 pro to 16 pro or 15 pro is not worth the upgrade. Just wait a bit longer maybe even get a new radical design change
I have a 12 Pro Max and I can say that (for me) the 16 Pro (be it base or Max) is still not a "worthy" upgrade. Most people will say that the 120Hz screen makes it worthy, on its own, but I don't feel that way. My 12 Pro Max's screen looks great and feels very smooth. Battery is still great, camera is great, I hardly play any mobile games (so I'm good, on the department as well) and as long as I get the latest iOS and apps updates, I see no reason to upgrade (hardware wise). Unless Apple Intelligence gonna blow everyone's mind and prove to be a game changer that reinvents the useability of our smartphones...
FYI: maybe the upgrade from 15pro to 16pro is not APPARENT, however, the 15pto comes from arvm8 instruction set wide decoder, the 16pro has armv9.2 instructions set with 10 wide decoder and optmizations on architecture wich is leagues ahead of A17pro…and other brands (android). Performance per watt on A18 pro is very good.
The first brand new phone I ever bought was the iPhone 13 Pro Max. That phone is still crazy good and I was planning on keeping it for awhile longer, but I recently switched to a new provider and I was able to get a new iPhone 16 pro max for free with a trade in of my 13. The new iPhone is nice, but honestly I would be just as happy with my 13 still. Maybe later down the road with updates the new iPhones will blow my mind, but at the moment nothing has really changed for me, other than the battery life. Holy moly I forgot what it’s like to have a new battery haha.
The biggest update for iphone compared to iphone 15 series is probably differences in heating issues on 15 series where taking photos could come to the point where the display dimmed 🤦♂️ Camera co control kinda not as useful, yeah, not much of a use of the actual system where iOs stays the same prehistoric way. However, 120fps pro res is incredibly I give them that 😎
I went from the iPhone 11 to the iPhone 15 last year so will probably stick with what I have. So far, I don’t see any advantage to AI compatible phone.
I think if you are on 13 series up to 15 series there is no reason to upgrade in 16 series since 13-15 series are still awesome, but if you are on 12 series below there is a huge upgrade if you plan to buy 16 series.
The collective whining and complaining by reviewers about the “incremental” updates, crying about the camera button being useless and without apple intelligence the phone is not what people are paying for. I have the 16 pro max 1tb, I am super happy with it, it’s a fantastic phone. I came from the iphone 13 128gb, HUGE UPGRADE.
I’m going to upgrade my 11 Pro Max … will have a hard time giving it up love that phone looks and feel …. iPhone 16 Plus is what I’m thinking don’t need the extra $400 stuff on pro models …. Since Apple can’t downgrade your battery with software updates now, people are keeping their phones longer, but I have noticed in the last six months some degrade in my speakers volume with updates lately . Battery is still 87% health😊 after almost 5 years.
I had 7plus then upgraded to xr then just upgraded to the 15 plus and will not upgrade until the 18 plus is is out! I don't need a pro I have very good sony cameras.
I will be switching to Apple from an Android phone. I will be going for the Apple iPhone 16 Pro from my current phone i.e., the Samsung Galaxy S8 which I bought in November 2017. So, for me, a seven year gap is pretty significant.
Problem is in the greed of wanting the latest greatest. I think it's not a bad thing a company wanting to keep delivering the updated tech and functions. Also other companies keep developing rapidly to why not like on a yearly basis bring out the new device. That said... At a giving point there's only so much left to improve upon. But for any person looking for a new phone..why not go for the latest greatest possible. However to some degree it makes no sense at all spending a lot of money over just some minor Improvement. Fans will do nonetheless, and its not that a last years or before iPhone is much much cheaper option to go for. Its just a super expensive brand that still Gonna sell like hotcakes because of how crazy we are for it😅
Still on my 6S Plus I bought 8 years ago 😁 Really hasn’t changed much still in my opinion... Time to upgrade though. Some apps don’t work and pictures now don’t load for some sites. Battery and space are an issue of course as well.
iPhone XR to 15 pro or 16 pro? I am thinking 15 after watching this and know that I am not a power user. Used for informal camera, reading, standard stuff including mapping for hunting
I have a friend who had the lovely blue titanium 15 pro last year who is buying a 16 pro this year. He is going to get £510 back for a trade in. I almost wanted to say: “So you are paying £580 for an extra button? Got it….”
Look I don’t want to be the debbie downer, but. Just put your iPhone 16 pro on a table with no light getting through to the lenses and take a 30 second night mode photo and check for blue streaks when it has finished because, for some, this is a real problem.
No idea why the ppl complain about the every year new iPhone. Not everyone GAF about the new iPhone, because I buy one and use it until is time to change it. The ppl who complain so much are the ones who change the phone every year, well Too bad. Try to enjoy your phone much longer…
It seems like 8GB is the minimum amount of RAM for Apple Intelligence. Apple has been notoriously stingy when it comes to RAM in their products, I wonder if Apple Intelligence will be a good experience on these phones once all the features are released, or whether we'll see a spec bump to 12 GB in next year's model.

I went from 5s to 7 plus and then iPhone X to iPhone 15/Pro/Pro Max. Stick to longer upgrade cycles and Apple is awesome.
5s to XR and I’m about to go to 16 plus
They should bring back the ‘S’ naming scheme back. Because that’s what this phone is.
I’m cool with the S. It’s the more refined series. Outside of saying this phone looks the same, it’s nailed everything else! That’s what I want!
Back then, you’d see minor improvements in a few areas. A lot of things changed here. Screen size, audio, camera, AI, more RAM on lower end models, much faster, better battery life, new camera button, etc. Basically, everything you do on this phone received an improvement.
The name is about sales. Every model since at least the 12 should have been an s model.
Haha yeah
It was unsustainable coming up with a new design every two years, but I didn’t think they would drag it for five years either!!😂😂
@@pedrogriffin1934 a 1k dollar phone should be to fly to deserve that price.
Yesterday's tech, for tomorrow's price.
They need to get rid of that ugly stupid bathtub on the screen if anything
Buy a samsung then.

Since I still have an iPhone 11, I’ll be looking forward to the “ massive” upgrade. I’m on a 5 year cycle
Just wait for the iPhone 21 and you can be on a 11 year cycle if that is your aim.
I still may do the 16 at this point but I was hoping for some truly significant eye popping feature like a display on the back
😂 display on the back?…I was more realistic hoping for higher refresh rate for the base model…
Wait for the 17, rumors say there's gonna be something new to the body. You're fine on the 11 for now, it will still get updates and the changes aren't that big to the 16.
@@epicnicity916 That's what they said for the 16s 😭
I was the same with the 12 pro max I went ahead and I got the 16 pro max bc att had a pretty good deal with the trade in
Apple Intelligence. When this comes out of beta this will be enough of a reason to upgrade by itself.
Is it a big difference 😮
Same here 😂never touched the camera button
I went from a 2020 SE to the 16 PM, dang has it been an incredible difference
Apple AI is also on 15 pro max so for the guys who have it there’s no need to go for 16
I’ve kept my iPhones an average of 4 years since the 5 came out.
Can you explain what you mean by scanning Notes?
@@foxxrider250rsame I even don’t know..may be searching text in notes
1:40 Not 6.7, it’s 6.3 & 6.9 respectively for 16 Pro & pro max.
Bump
Oh you're totally right. Still on auto pilot thinking from 15 Pro Max to 16 Pro Max 🤣 Thanks! I'll add a correction
4:19 you are kinda wrong, visual intelligence seems to be only available with the camera control, but they didnt specify
just bought the 16 pro max and im coming from the regular 11 so quite the upgrade id say
I’m coming from the 64GB iPhone 11 Pro to the 1TB iPhone 16 pro. I plan on purchasing this Friday and hoping they have it in stores. But I’m excited for the tremendous changes in the leap. Long time waiting.
Upgraded from a 13 Pro Max to the 16 Pro Max. It was well worth it.👌🏻
I have an iPhone 12 Pro and just received the 16 Pro.
Not convinced by the new camera button functions, especially Zoom
Great video, thx
I am upgrading from the iPhone 8 to 16 Pro as I am on a 7 year cycle.
Looking forward to latest & greatest iPhone.
I just upgraded from the 12 PM to the 16 PM .. worth the upgrade and very happy overall, can't wait for the new AI features to come.
Using 7 plus and it’s still not slow despite my phone storage is full…going to upgrade now
This gentleman is down playing some of the more significant details for example not only is the screen bigger, but the display is edge to edge which means it’s much bigger than the previous gens
I came from iPhone 15 PM and upgrade to the 16PM. I upgrade every year recently since iPhone X. I didn’t get the 8 and XS.
Battery life is still in clear lead even over prior models
Best in class performance and graphics
Competitive set of AI features assuming it works currently when it launches.
Those are my reasons for upgrading whether you agree with them or not, please don’t assume my intentions. I’m happy with my decision.
I have the 13 pro max, would you upgrade to the 16 Pro or 16 pro max? Thinking fro ma size perspective the 16 Pro max might be too big.
Your absolutely right. Iphone 13 here. Battery at 80%. Cant make it though a day without charge. I need an upgrade.
I have a 13 pro, and my battery is at 99%. I think I manage that by avoiding letting the charge get above 80%. I think from the 15 on you can set it to not charge over 80%
I miss my 5s and use a 12 mini…closest I could get. My little gold phone was gorgeous.
If I did not get the 15 pro then yes I would get this new phone but I am good with the 15 as my main phone and will see what the 17 gives me
I'm comming from a Huawei P20 Lite (2018), worth it?
About to upgrade from the 13 Pro Max to 16 Pro Max. 3 year cycle is the way. Nothing special enough to make me upgrade each year.
I am much like you in that I tend to purchase every flagship iPhone starting with the iPhone 3G. You are right about there not being very many differences between the 15 pro max and the 16 pro max. I think that I will wait for a few years before I get my next version of an iPhone.
Maybe then they will get rid of that ugly annoying bathtub in the screen
Went from 14 Pro to 16 Pro for USBC speed, action, camera button and AI. If an IPhone Air was to materialize, then that would be my next change.
Question,
Why did you go Pro vs Max? Same reasons? Now I want help me with my iPad-vs-Mac buy. I’m going into the photography and TH-cam businesses. Thx!
Still have my iPhone 7 Plus. Not too sure if I should buy the 16 pro or max.
i got the 15 pro last july as a birthday gift for myself because my iphone se 2020 was my daily driver for 4 years, mainly getting phone calls and light social media. i have to charge it twice or even thrice a day since it was 87% in battery health. after i got the 15 pro, i was really surprised by the battery health, only having to charge it the next day, usually falling between 28-23% before i charge it and use my ipad air for a bit. mind you, the 16 pro already had several early leaked specs already and seeing ringke and spigen already posted their cases for the 16 series, those camera button cutout on their cases really do seem off so i decided to get the 15 pro. it seems it's just another button that complicates things. no regrets at getting the 15 pro as there are tons of cases available as well.
Nice to know my 13 Pro Max is a good phone to upgrade from. Glad I waited the extra year and didn’t get the 15 Pro Max.
The biggest update for iphone compared to iphone 15 series is probably differences in heating issues on 15 series where taking photos could come to the point where the display dimmed 🤦♂️
Camera co control kinda not as useful, yeah, not much of a use of the actual system where iOs stays the same prehistoric way. However, 120fps pro res is incredibly I give them that 😎
Going from 10XR to 16 Pro Max. Looking forward to the new phone.
Just got my 16 pro a few days ago and it’s awesome especially coming from an 8 plus which was my last phone. Also got an ESR case too!
I went from the iPhone 11 to the iPhone 15 last year so will probably stick with what I have. So far, I don’t see any advantage to AI compatible phone.
Its just crazy that companies marks up their products when it only costs half the price or even way less to produce.
I think if you are on 13 series up to 15 series there is no reason to upgrade in 16 series since 13-15 series are still awesome, but if you are on 12 series below there is a huge upgrade if you plan to buy 16 series.
As a 12 series owner, I think the 12 lineup is also in the "no reason to upgrade" category.
I’m using ip 12 and probably going to upgrade to 16pro I think. Love the camera.
Getting used to the 16pro max after years with 13pro. It is a great update for me coming from the 13pro. Still adjusting though. 😅
4S to 7 to 11PRO.... will you suggest me to upgrade to 16PRO or 15PRO as my current 11PRO's battery health is 70% so have to change my phone.
Spoiler Alert: He didn't find the SECRET OF APPLE
I had 7plus then upgraded to xr then just upgraded to the 15 plus and will not upgrade until the 18 plus is is out! I don't need a pro I have very good sony cameras.
I will be switching to Apple from an Android phone. I will be going for the Apple iPhone 16 Pro from my current phone i.e., the Samsung Galaxy S8 which I bought in November 2017. So, for me, a seven year gap is pretty significant.
I upgrade from the iPhone 13 Pro to 16 pro max waited till my 13 needed replacement and it was worth the upgrade 😅
yeah - good thought at the end... it's the upgrade for those with older phones...

I almost wanted to say:
“So you are paying £580 for an extra button?
I ordered the 16 pro max. I currently use the 13 pro max. I can’t wait for the 16 pro max to come in the mail!
