I appreciate the fact that we all come here for watch content but stay for the banter and everything else. Really says a lot about Christian and Michael. I originally started watching Theo and Harris for watch content but if you guys posted a video called and didn’t mention a single watch I have faith that I would enjoy it and come back for another one. Great work guys

The best business advice I've ever received was "Keep it small, keep it all." Too many morons walking around asking for tons of money for their played out ideas.
My first business was a dog poop clean up business, most people made fun of the idea but it's what I could afford. I ended up making six figures within a year, hired people, started offering more expensive more profitable services and the rest is history. Everyone along the way was telling me to take on debt and investors to grow faster. Life isn't shark tank, and 90% of the time the long hard but straight road is the right one to take.

This was the deepest episode of T&H and I love it. I been a long time viewer going back to 2017 kind of seeing Christian's journey has been really cool and as someone who's 26 and really just starting my career I get what he's saying about mentorship. Not having a lot of friends my age. I personally think we don't have a lot of people our age just cause how the social landscape of social media and how we socialize now but that's another story. But when it comes to family I think the older guard doesn't understand the idea of being content it's always being happy. I really like the idea of Buddhism that the biggest curse is never ending pursuit of pleasure. The way to be happy is to be content with what you have be aware that life can change you can expand or contract in your career and it's ok and just welcome those changes.

Sacrificing the short dollar and working in an industry he’s passionate about, at least career wise, I would say Christian is successful. Keep up the good work and inspiring others to do the same!

  • @patrickkeene8366

Really appreciate the honestly of the “successful” question. At 31 I do feel successful with my family and with relationships. However, if I’m honest, my ambition keeps me discontent and I don’t feel successful day to day. Tommy Shelby from Peaky Blinders said it best “I have three gardeners. Three generations of men with no ambition and they’re all happier than me.”
That being said, my identity is not in my hustle. It’s not in what I build. 🤷🏻‍♂️
I’m enjoying this opportunity to be contemplative 🥃.

As for brands that have fallen, Bulova isn't even a shell of what it used to be, it's just mostly gone as a brand. I like some of their historic pieces that they've kept around, but god most of their watches are disgusting nowadays.

After so many years it was nice getting to learn more about the man behind the Theo & Harris watch shop. The new segment was like being a serious date and learnig "hey this is the one!" Although you and MIchael are very busy, a nice give away would be 1 hour dinner and cocktales at a hip spot in the city.

Regarding the watches in Hip Hop: I would beg to argue that Nas is really the grandfather or pioneer for the community. He’s been collecting since the early 90s and his collection is an eclectic mix of vintage or modern staples. His influence is seen in Jay Z’s or Travis’ collection for sure.

Thank you Christian, for pointing out the main issue with the Rolex business model. You can't get one unless you're an insider or close friends with an insider. So intelligent people just say screw it, not worth my time, and move on.

  • @dBsdecibels

Genuinely great questions! I feel ya on the "missing the young adult lifestyle." I focussed intensely on snowboarding training when I was early 20s, then went directly into an engineering degree while working two jobs. I basically missed that entire experience. Wouldn't say I regretted it. I LOVED my time snowboarding and I have a great career now. Those sacrifices lead to today's happiness.
Adding to your good business advice: Always assume your competitor is 2-3 times better than you. Make lists of your strengths and weaknesses, and make plans to work on them. The late Jack Welch describes a good way to objectively assess your own business ("be honest with yourself") in his book "Winning." A great book that's absolutely worth a read.

I completely agree on the leather strap for Rolex. I think it was about the time California banned exotic skins/leathers for consumer use when Rolex phased it out. Thats when the oysterflex strap started becoming a more common strap.

Christian I 100% felt the same for so long. The mid to late 20s seem to be lied about in media and in society. It’s supposed to be the best time of your life or whatever. I either felt like I wasn’t adult enough or I wasn’t doing what I was supposed to be doing. So I moved away from family which is really hard but my now wife went to law school and is a practicing attorney and we bought a house and are expecting a little girl. I’m turning 30 this year but I definitely felt lost for 5 years or so on what life is supposed to be at that age. Thank you for your honesty about how you fell and your mindset about what’s to come in your life. It was really deep thinking from you to answer your questions. If the podcast in anything like this with watch stuff thrown in I’m sold for life.

Hey Christian and Michael, hope all is well.
I am Miguel and I have been a fan of your TH-cam channel for quite a while now. I stumbled upon your videos as I gain interest in watches and horology in general. I was hooked and now self-proclaimed Watch Geek/Nerd. I love how your videos not only talk about watches but also other finer things in life. Be it clothes, wines, whiskeys (I now enjoy Cutty Sark because of you Christian), food and travels. I’m pretty sure I’m not the only fan who would love to see more of these “varieties” in your channel. I think it would bring more audience to you. I try to keep up as much as I can and kind of blend your influence in my life. But as a 30-year old father of 4 kiddos, their needs and wants are my priority. Which makes mine stays in the back burner. Love how you guys want to give it back to the watchfam and I would be so honored to be picked for the giveaway.
More power and success to the channel. Cheers!

Here's the thing with the leather strap Day-Dates and Datejusts....even with the unusual dials...they are STILL sitting on grey market sites. That doesn't exactly encourage Rolex to build variations on that theme. I write that while absolutely LOVING to own one (green dial and strap Day-Date please!)

I can relate to not actively feeling successful. I’m not an entrepreneur but I’m well educated with a high paying corporate career. I really enjoy the light, jocular and easy going report you both enjoy. Combined with a sense of honesty and openness that isn’t that common on social media, where some seem to want to curate a rather plastic perpetually positive persona. What you see, is what you get, with you and that’s refreshing. It’s also nice that you actually like and get on with your family, as your insta stories demonstrate. That’s both warming and enjoyable to witness. Well, another good video - thanks.

This episode covered so many great topics like Breitling fall from grace could be its own video, like watches that saw mainstream attention from pop culture like panerai, frank Muller, Breitling just getting forgotten. The whole leather strap vs bracelet could be a whole video that analyzes pros and cons, personally bracelet better all arounder but a strap let's you really tweak a watch to fit your outfit. I have a colareb bronze brown strap that matches my meermin whole cuts and matching belt that with a dark navy suit outfit is on whole new level. This episode had so much and it came from the heart.

Old Rolex or just watches in general are so underrated. there is so much history in an old watch like a scratch on the crystal could have been scratched when opening a door while taking their wife to the hospital while having their first child or scratched while working hard on a job to get a new watch. My grail watch is a 1970 Rolex reference 1500 with the grey dial
