I'm 5"11, 195 pounds and love a 36mm Datejust. Very classy and comfortable. For a sporty watch I prefer a little bigger, but for dressy watch I like the elegance of a small watch.
I’m 6’ but only have a 6.2” wrist. All my watches are under 40mm and the best fit for me is my 38mm Aqua Terra. When choosing an Explorer 1, I went for the 36mm option and it looks great on my wrist. I could’ve worn the 40mm but going a bit smaller was right for me. By the way, it’s worth mentioning that the lug-lug length is important, sometimes more so than case width.
36 mm is the best. Most watches look to big and people think everyone is looking. So a new Roli at 40 or 41mm is extra bling but too big in my opinion. At 36 mm people who know the will see and be just as pleased. Understatement is cool. I go for vintage all the time 1940s to 1960s, so I wear 33 to 37 mm. Omega, Universal, Certina or Dugena and you can get a nice piece and keep 2/3 of the money that a Datejust Roli will set you back
A lot of people don’t even wear their watches properly but will be focused on mm size I’m 6’1” 215 and have watches ranging from 33-42mm and all them look great on wrist
I've got a 34.5mm vintage Omega, a 42mm Tissot and a bunch of sizes in-between. Like I tell people looking to get in shape, don't focus on the numbers, focus on the look. If you see a watch you like, try it on.
I’m 5’11 230 lbs and I wear a 36 16233 two tone and I love it. It’s very comfortable. I also have a 41 rose gold DD and it gets uncomfortable if wearing for long period of time.
36mm is a classic size, we were use to rock watches under 38mm pre-1995. Panerai, Franck Mueller, Hublot, AP and many cheap fashion brands started the big watch trend plus 42mm in the late 90's. Eventually many luxury watch brands increased their sizes from 34mm - 36mm to 39mm - 40mm plus range. The size that matters is in the lug to lug length of a watch, not so much the width. Also the dial, design, finish, material and the size of the individual makes a watch look smaller or larger than it is. I'm 5'5 (short guy) average thin build, 7' wrist. I can wear a Big Pilot on my wrist, but from a distance the thing looks huge and stands out. A big guy 6'2 275 lbs. with a 6 1/2 inch wrist can wear the same watch. It may look normal on him, but it will wear too large in regards to fit on wrist. Too much lug overhang. A big guy like Tony Soprano can wear a 36mm Day Date and it will look normal. Again it's the design of a watch. In Tony Sopranos case it's a gold watch with a bracelet. Give him a 36mm IWC Mark 12 on a leather strap, it may look small on him. My advise, don't listen to TH-camrs who always complain about a watch being too small or too large. It may be for them, but not for everyone. Lug to lug, determines the size of a watch. Case design, material finish, dial layout, and dial color will determine how much or how little a watch pops on wrist. Size is objective and there is no right answer. It all comes down to how you feel and how it wears on you.
I’m 6’1 and 225lbs and I think anything larger than 38mm is pushing it for me. I have a few 39mm-40mm watches I still wear, but after just following along with the big case trend of the past couple of decades I realized a couple years back that 34mm-37mm is kind of the sweet spot for me.
I’ve gone back and forth on this issue 100 times. At 6’ 250 lbs muscular with a 7.5” wrist a 36mm pending which watch and bracelet, I feel could be too small. I don’t feel that way about the Rolex Day Date as I have one and pull it off. But a 36mm on a leather strap can feel smallish. When I was younger I wore a 34mm Movado on a leather strap but I didn’t know anything about watches at 19 years old. I always thought it was a bit small but that was 25 years ago so it was how it was.
FLAVA FLAVE !!!! I was terrified when kids (and adults) started rocking large faced watches back in the 80s . To me large faced watches look juvenile and ghetto Fab... unless you have really large wrists OR youre a Diver/First responder of sorts. Go on Slick! LOL
I didn't know this was a thing😂 I usually wear a 42mm just because my first watch was that size that's what I usually stuck with.....now I might go try a 36mm just to see😂
You forgot to mention that Muhammad Ali rocked a tiny cartier tank... and he was HUGE. So there really is no limit. It s all about congruence and making it work with the rest of your outfit.
So I live with acromegaly. So what should I do if the watch won't fit. And you can come measure. Been arrested once for an answer of a lawsuit. And the hand cuffs didn't fit. So is extra links a thing or that's ugly.
I don't think I could wear a 36 mm. I am 5'10 220 with 8 inch wrists. I have worked with my hands my whole life. Most recently, I was a jet engine specialist. It really thickens the wrist.
My mom owns presidential day date that she got from a friend that owed her money, she doesn’t wear it, however the problem is the watch is on the smaller side, it’s smaller then 36mm. I’m not sure as a male it would suite me wearing, would feel kinda embarrassed if it were to small, it although it’s a nice time piece.. anybody has dealt with this type of struggle prior? Can a person wear even smaller than 36?
All this 36mm coping. 41 all the way. You got all these points on the aesthetics however people who are about their money view rolex as an investment that they can flex. Investments you want them to perform well. A 41 will hold value and sell way better than the 36 if you decide to liquidate in the future. Anything 36mm/diamonds/two-tone = watches for women, niche market, harder sell than plain jane rolex 41mm steel.
whenever I see women in 36mm watches (even 34mm) it always looks off to me, like a woman wearing work boots or something, just doesnt fit the "petite" look I think of associated with feminine. id say 28-31 max for the classic ladies looks, but as far as 41mm holding value, id agree
TH-camrs who talk crap about a watch being too big for their small wrists. Are the same guys who wear 45mm G-shocks and make video content as the ultimate do it all watch. Yet they will say Panerai watches are too big.... Go figure. Then we have other TH-camrs who say any watch under 40mm is for women. Yet when they review a vintage 37mm Rolex 6263 Daytona Paul Newman, 38mm vintage Perpetual Calendar Chronograph from Patek Philippe, or 36mm vintage Calatrava.... They don't say shit about the size of those watches.
Just got my 1st iced out 36 mm date just. All from turning a $354 crypto investment into 66k. I sold early to If I would of held I would have cashed out 990k
I think large watches, anything over 36mm, are ugly and cartoonish. Some people having legitimate different tastes, I’m willing to push out to 40 mm for agree to disagree sake. I think it is mass hysteria that people think otherwise. Think about it. Large rings are clunky and garish. Large bracelets? Thin ones, ok in isolated cases, but remember thick ones are called manacles. Why would big watches be different? Unless your arms are 10 feet long and you need to read the time from a great distance, it makes no sense. Which is the reason why fundamentally it looks stupid. You don’t need a watch face that large. Since most of the time in the history or watches they have been smaller, even when making watches larger would be easier to produce, i predict most larger watches will decrease in value once people get back to the median and insanity breaks out somewhere else.
36mm is TOO SMALL!! It's definitely too small for me. 43mm is bare minimum for me. And using a Rolex as an example is not a good way to prove this point.
I'm 5"11, 195 pounds and love a 36mm Datejust. Very classy and comfortable. For a sporty watch I prefer a little bigger, but for dressy watch I like the elegance of a small watch.
me too! I hate the g shock frisbee on the wrist look. It is way too much whether its lightweight or not.
36mm is king. Big wrist or not. Classy and elegant.

I have a 7 inch wrist but I too prefer the 38 mm aquaterra over the 41.
And I currently wear a 42 mm Seamaster professional.
James Gandolfini, as Tony Soprano, wore a 36mm Rolex. It looked terrific on him.
Are you serious? Was it actually a 36?
@@jxhnschuessler6826 Yes, he wore a 36 president on the show

I have on Omega Constellation Pie Pan and its perfect on me...I have videos on my channel wearing it
A 36mm is the right size for every wrist. A 36 looks classier than a 40
Manifesting I will own a Rolex by this time next year🤞
36mm is legendary, every star from the past wore 36mm DD. Everyone!
Thanks!
36 is the perfect and more elegant size and don't forget 36 is the official military watch size ❤
I own both a 36mm up to 41mm watches. They can all work depending on the style of the watch. Great video Gus!
36mm rocks! I’m 6’ wit’ a small wrist! I also have an explorer II! The style is very classic.
I wear a 36mm Datejust everyday and I'm a skinny guy at 165 lbs and I get compliments on it all the time..anything else looks too big on my wrist
I’m going 36 and anyone that says anything negative about it needs to show me their own Rolex first 💀
Depends on the wrist. 38 seems to be my sweet spot. I thought it was 40 until I tried 38 and 36 mm watches.
You had me at tony soprano 36mm I'm so glad and can't wait to get mine!
36mm is the sweet spot,I love my 36 mm day date and I have all sizes

My “thing” is retro military field watches. Most were 36mm or smaller. Some really bad dudes wore and still wear those watches.

36 mm is fine. I have a 7.5 inch wrist, and prefer watches that have a lug to lug, anywhere between 43 mm and 48 mm.

If you have less than a 7 inch wrist stick to a 36 mm. 41mm is perfect for 7inch+ wrist size. Lug to lug size matters too.
36mm is perfect 41mm is okay depending on case shape.
Yes 36mm is too small for men, but not for confident men. I’m 5’7 250lb and wearing 36mm daily
So you're a bowling ball with a watch
6'4", 270# and 36mm is perfection.

You deserve my subcribe❤ im here because i felt that my 36mm is too small on my wirst i'm 5'8 tall 70kg and you prove it is okay to wear 36mm❤

Missed opportunity to say "such as buying a neck chain" 😂
Day date 36mm, submariner 40mm regardless how big your wrist is.
i have really small wrists, makes wearing most watches a problem. the datejust is perfect in size and the 36 is just right for me.
A 36 works well when your wearing a watch with a beautiful shiny bracelet but a leather strap, a 37 or 38 is definite must..

Anybody know what size Rolex was Tupac wearing back in the day?
Perfect video. Thanks💯👌🏽
Cant stand big face watch, cheesy.
The main issue is that the straight on wrist shot makes the watch look bigger than it really is. 36mm is smaller than I prefer on my 7 inch wrist
What size mm is the Rolex on your wrist in this video ?
36mm
This sounds like us saying "buy moissanite instead". I like how you put it.
I have a 7in wrist. I wear a 41mm date just and think it looks great. I don’t think it’s too big or too small it fits just right.
Great video 🔥🔥

if 36 is too small for you you got a big back
I feel confident when the ladies admire my 36mm's.
I never liked the 40-41mm Rolex because the proportions are off. Datejust/Daydate were designed to be 36mm. If you want a big watch get a Breitling.
36 mm is the standard size it’s like being a size medium wearing a medium
Great video man, I got the same one you got on👌
Good video...36mm is a great size and can be perfect if the lug to lug suits your wrist size.

What size watch is he wearing
If it wasn’t small back then it isn’t now all the OGs really wore 36 presidents
the 36mm is too big for men. If you’re wearing Ben 10 and Invicta watches, I already know you still wear True Religion jeans
