+Erickzy Yes but it depends on what device you use to play it back. My Lenovo laptop made it work but an Acer laptop changed it to mono and it didn't work.
It suprisingly worked on my veeery old 1965 philips PM 3201 as well! Unfortunately the image is quite small since the highest sensitivity that i've got built in on the x deviation is 1v/cm :(
- Infomashed - The extra lines is because your audio source doesn't amplify the high frequency (~150kHz) signals. The fuzzyness is just bad playback file quality.
For anyone who doesn't know, this is oscilliscope music, where the visuals are drawn directly by the sound being visualised by an oscilliscope, which can draw lines and other shapes from a carefully made sound signal
@@kabaczek17 watch videos where people actually play this type of music on an actual oscillator. edit: th-cam.com/video/wDkG1CgREaQ/w-d-xo.html watch this
@@kabaczek17 oh but it actually is, oscilloscopes visualize electrical wavelengths which can translate into sound. Now to make all this appear you have 2 signals one X signal that's visualised from left to right. Then Y signal that's visualised from the top and down, now in terms of having 2 signals the music is decided in stereo left channel could be X input signal and right channel could be Y input signal if both plays same note it will be a circle but if you play around with frequency and all that you can make any visual using sound. So what you see is what you hear, you're listening to video signals essentially.
@@zyriuz2 That is very interesting, i thought it happend the other way around. ie, playing with sounds to try and make shapes. After thought, i think i was right, you need to start with the sound and see what you get, then tweak it. An oscilloscope cant do anything without an input signal.
This looks really cool but personally I liked the older videos more where you could see the actual oscilloscope. Now it almosts looks like "just" a computer animation. Still awesome though. Don't get me wrong!
Amazing to think this is technically all monophonic. You do with one layer what I try to do with several, and your synthesis skills are unparalelled. Is that vosim you're using for the formant stuff? I had a look at the waveforms and thought I saw some windowed sync going on (one of my favourite synthesis tricks).
I was going to suggest that it would look great on a CRT with P11 phosphor (Tek's code) because it would look cool in blue. It was originally designed for photographic use, so it may even give you a better image. I believe the blue phosphor photographs better with both film and digital. This is the next best thing anyway - more beautiful work. Thank you, Maestro!
Exactly what i was looking for to describe lissajous to a friend One layer, solid visuals, very establishing behavior at the beginning that ok this is how it works and this is what you can do
If you can't play multiple tracks at the same time, or it will make the visualization look bad. Could you make an own visualization for each track and kind of put them all in the same screen? Like each instrument has it's own lissajous curves and you somekind of juggle with them. Would that work? Or did I misunderstood something?
+Jerobeam Fenderson So you would have to use already recorded oscilloscope images, so in live show it wouldnt be as "live", or you would have to use many oscilloscopes at the same time?
I would love to see you using multiple audio outs with multiple oscilloscopes at some point. You're the man with the abilities to make something like that really great. I'd love to hear what you could do with more than just one track playing at a time lol.
Dont limit yourselve. at least try it maybe you like it even more and if not you can always go back. i would love to see what you can do with more than one.
Fiilis of course you could superimpose shit, but why would you unless you did so in a way that followed the original method, such as the butterfly clip in Mushrooms. The point of this audiovisual experience is to demonstrate the spatial properties of a planar stereo signal. It's a vectorscope, not fuckin Sony Acid Pro.
I'm completely mesmerized. The fractal zooming spirals were amazing.
