I feel so frickin called out because I discovered polyrhythms like 2 days ago, and now with this, it feels like virtual riot is in a shady back alley like "hey kid. I heard you like polyrhythms..."
I realized that when that happens, you can count the spokes of the fan, use that as a denominator, and check the video playbar to figure out what fraction of the way through you are. For instance there are only two spots with a four-spoke fan, at 1:51 and 5:35, and those are exactly 1/4 and 3/4 of the way through. Try it with the five-spokes.
Did you notice: The 3:43 transition you mentioned, where “two lines” are visible, is exactly at the halfway mark of the song. Furthermore, the 1:50 and 5:35 where “four lines” are visible are at the 1/4 and 3/4 marks. Intro and outro where “one line” is visible are at the 0/1 and 1/1 marks (note the denominator in the reduced fraction is the number of lines; also works for e.g. 1/3 and 2/3 at 2:30 and 5:00) An exercise left for the reader is to find out why this is the case.

Interestingly 3:4 is the ratio of pitches of a “perfect fourth” note interval (5 semitones apart on a keyboard), e.g. this is like playing C and F. The clean ratio is why this interval sounds so harmonic. The relationship between polyrhythms and chords is very interesting. Chords are just polyrhythms but so fast you can’t hear the beats
