ive been binging videos of yours and just realized youre not some medium to big sized channel but the quality is absolutely there youre going places brother
Hey, great video as usual! The reason they're weaving in-and-out during the caution flag/pace laps is to keep their tires warm, and clean to get a good start. Also, caution flags are basically that long IRL to clean up debris and give people time to pit, so iRacing is simulating that too, even though it doesn't have to be as long since there's not very much standing debris in wrecks in the game. The "lucky dog" is a NASCAR/oval racing rule, where the first person who's a lap down gets to go by, and gain a lap. So for instance, if there's 10 people on the lead lap, then the person who's 11th would get the lucky dog. If he was only 1 lap down, that would put him back on the lead lap, but if he was like 2 laps down he's only gain one lap and still be 1 lap down. And that incident at 20:30 I think could be considered a racing incident. You moved down to give space to the guy above you, while the green car moved up a bit to give the white car on the bottom space, and you sorta came into each other. The safest thing to do would be for one of you to have lifted, and tucked in behind the guy in front, but that almost never happens in oval racing. 😂 Anyways, it was fun to watch! Loved it as usual! Oh, you don't mind me giving these answers right? IDK if it comes across as rude or something; if it does ofc I won't!
There's a ton of good info in there! I definitely appreciate the help as I have no experience whatsoever outside of what I have up on the channel lol I've learned a massive amount just through the comments alone so please feel free to keep the tips coming!
Drafting is under appreciated as a skill for sure. Other trucks let off to stay in line and manage the run they get. its all about timing and about the amount of vehicles you can have with you.
Thanks for pointing that out! I think I started to see some of that when I was watching the race back. I don't really know how the strategy behind that works yet, but I'm definitely going to pay attention to it in upcoming races
Lucky Dog: when a caution comes out, the first care one lap down (if not involved in the caution) is allowed to pass the pace car, come around, and get their lap back, but must restart at the back of the field. In real NASCAR races they still have to pit with the lap down cars, though I don't think iRacing makes a distinction about who can pit when.
Definitely work on your patience, it should feel more like a dance. I’m really surprised you didn’t get taken out, but I mean you finished well so it is what it is lol.
Funny enough, I did 2 more races after this video and got wrecked out in both of them, so you're 100% correct lol it's definitely something I'm gonna focus on in upcoming races! Thanks for the tips!
@ the fact you can take other people’s advice and learn from your mistakes are going to take you far! But definitely don’t be scared to be offensive, just maybe not when it’s already 3 wide 🤣🤣🤣🤣 You got this man.
Couple of pointers, don't bump draft when your 3-4 cars behind the lead car. The pace is set by the leader and the car bump drafting them, bumping the following cars can cause an almighty chain of events. You have to be patient
@costangracing they never will, the only time you do it is if your 1st or second car in line. This is the same if your in a second pack of cars, it's up the 1st and second car to bump each other to catch up, Once back in the draft you can either calm down and slot in with the pack or check up and work together to pass. However what normally happens in this case is the lead car passes the leader and slots in front of them leaving you high and dry with no draft quickly dropping you off 😂😂
Ok I gotcha, sounds like I need to be way less aggressive instead of making a mad dash to the front lol next time I hop into a race I'm going to give some of this a try and see how it goes!
The reason you can catch up so fast is because you are drafting. The air from the car infront of you is going straight over your car so there is less force acting on your car making you faster. The leaders are full throttle.
Dude we should do some oval together sometime, I have a slightly lower irating than you and I just got promoted to c class and I’m eager to do one of these races when I own the content
Yeah I use a tool that Oculus has where you can stabilize the image by cropping in. You lose a bit of FOV but it looks much nicer than the wild shaking lol

I just noticed that as well content is great tho fr

Ok this would explain why some of the cars didn’t react very well when I did that lol massively helpful tip, thanks!

The weave is to keep the tires warm
Honestly, I'm not sure why that didn't cross my mind lol

I was actually thinking about maybe doing some community races in the future! If I get around to that I'll definitely let you know!
Have you done some motion smoothing? The video looks much nicer and not a s shaky as most vr recordings are lol

@@costangracing awesome, first time I enjoy watching a vr recording
Tire saving in two words: slide less.
This is very helpful lol I ran a few races in draftmasters last week that went very poorly due to me doing the exact opposite of this lol
