Another strat i used was rushing down to the royal dutch shell company focus. If you enter before flipping fully communist/fascist you can enter the allies and it makes fighting the USA much easier
I tried that too but I felt like without the manpower and industry of the central america and the carribeans I couldn't get too much of a numbers advantage against the US. I usually end up with 40 divisions or so by the time I start the war.
Great video. I've tried several times but I'm still amazed that you managed to do all three achievements in one run. I kept finding that taking South America just delayed me too long. So I stopped after taking Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. Then went after the US via Seize the Panama Canal to delay their joining the allies as it counted as a defensive war. However with a massive gun shortage I couldn't push and when that was eventually overcome it was too late! I was close but they joined the allies before capitulating. That did still get me the Revenge of Montezuma achievement but it felt a bit hollow as I couldn't hold the US against the allies. I got Sunset invasion by focussing on puppeting, war reparations and navy stealing in South America. Waiting for WW2 then getting military access and docking rights with Germany so I could invade the UK. Unfortunately Trotsky was assassinated while I was planning the invasion of the USSR so I couldn't get New Home of the Revolution and Sunset invasion in the same run!
Thanks! It looks like you had a lot of fun! I think it is a good strategy to attack the US without continuing past Peru. You don't really need the last South American countries and I would probably do the same to ensure I take out the US before they join the Allies. Instead of using the Seize the Panama Canal to start the war with the US, a direct justification on the Philippines might be faster. If you're able to take out the US before they join the Allies, I think you're in a good place to also take out the USSR before they can assassinate Trotsky. Good luck!
@@friendlycat4170 I got "New Home..." in the end. New run, puppeted South America, quick knock-out of the UK as soon as Germany took France. In the peace deal I took the Royal Navy and puppeted Denmark so I had somewhere to invade the USSR from. Hit Leningrad, and Tallinn. Then invaded from Riga to pincer and encircle their army. Germany then joined in. Got enough war participation to puppet the main chunk of the USSR. Definitley easy enough when you're just focussing on one achievement!
That second cristero war is really 50/50 chance. On my first attempt AI took my land faster than I had a chance to train my troops. Literally AI did the speedrun.
I would think so. It might even be easier with the bonuses provided to marines with AAT. The UK may guard its ports in the new patch, but marines landing on and next to the port would still succeed.
I use the resistance occupation law of No Garrison to release manpower from the garrisons. After I use the manpower to recruit new units and replace lost manpower in deployed units, I go back to Local Police Force. I am short 145K manpower for my resistance garrisons. I am on Limited Conscription and I have not completed the focuses to increase manpower. Total recruitable manpower is 479K. I was thinking on completing collabs before beg '41 and put all my spies at home to counter assassination at least once. Could be interesting to see if it would help.
@@vonleeb4846 Good choice for Local Police. You may want to go No Garrison at least some of the time so that none of your manpower is tied up in resistance garrisons. All of your manpower should be used by your military. I would probably not take the integration focuses because, as you noted, they delay your invasion of the US. You are correct that collabs are helpful. In this run, I started my first collab on 8/26/39. I used 150 PP for a third operative to chain the second collab to end on 11/4/40. If I was doing this run again, I would start my first collab as soon as I met the 50% network requirement to try and complete a third collab by the end of 1940. I don't think putting spies at home or investing in the Passive Defense upgrades to the Intelligence Agency will ensure that Trotsky stays alive. Most of the other posts and videos that I saw and my test run had Trotsky dead in early 1941, even with spies at home and Passive Defense upgrades. One run I saw had Trotsky survive the attack in 1941. He died in 1943.

I tried few times however always run out of time because for some reasons conquering Venezuela was such a pain and lasting much longer comparing to your vid, although I was landing in the same provinces as you with the same force. So, in my desperate tries I have turned off last 3 DLCs and bingo, you have no spy agents and agencies, Trotski can last for ever. I would say, with all newest DLCs active this achievement is insane. With last 3 DLCs off it is hard but doable. Anyway thanks for tips and discussion, although I have over 1k hours on hoi4 I still learned new things thanks to your vids.
@@vonleeb4846 My pleasure! I don't consider it cheese or an exploit to turn off DLC released after the content for an achievement. I don't think the achievement was created with the intent to have the tight Trotsky removal timetable that we currently see with BBA.

Glad you like the guide! I don't have a great tip to taking Venezuela, as they are challenging. Prioritize taking the ports for supply. A failed port landing is better than stranded divisions. Also, I would try to take Venezuela before the Caribbean, as Venezuela might have a larger army by the time you attack them if you wait until after the Caribbean. You could attack Columbia before Venezuela as well. Good luck!

Sort of suprising you did not take advantage of the SCW mechanics to max out your land doctrine first though.
You might be right about that. I preferred to keep the guns for more units. Trotsky provides a decent passive Army XP gain.
