GameStop realized they accidentally sent Matty gold last time so they had to double down on the slop this time to apologize and make sure it wouldn’t happen again.

I feel your pain, Matty! I wish our company could do better than sending scratched up discs and games without boxes (or generic boxes).
A couple things about our trading process that might help you better understand why this happens.
1. When a customer trades in a game, we are to inspect the game to see if the disc passes our trade-in standards, and this is a subjective thing for the most part.
2. If a game is significantly scratched in our opinion, then we can take the trade, but we are supposed to label it as defective. This is then shipped to a local warehouse to try and repair the disc. However, this process might not happen if you have employees who think it is fine to trade in (and sell) a severely scratched disc.
3. If a customer trades in a game without the box, then we have to put it in a generic box. I am not sure why the Rayman game was sent without a box; that shouldn't have happened IMO.
I take this video as great feedback to help me make sure the games I trade and sell are in the best condition possible, and I hope your next roulette goes a LOT better!

Literally all GameStop has ever needed to do is make a transparent system for classifying the completeness of trades. It would solve so many problems, for consumers and them as a company.
thats kind of an inventory nightmare for them. They could do it for retro games since the stock is lower, they could have two listings, complete and disc only, and only take in complete ones that have the full box and manual, everything else be disc only. But thats too much work for them too.
They’re probably too lazy to do that.
You act like this is a problem for GameStop. It isn’t. They can ship out garbage and you pay for it. They are the Las Vegas of video game stores. The house always wins.
Co-worker and I were JUST talking about this option today! For retro I think it's a possibility, but it would have to be very is-or-isn't. They don't have room to have many condition categories for great, light damage, moderate damage, disc only. It would have to be cib or not, regardless of perfection.

@@Archradox I absolutely agree with you! I think they need to rebuild their online shopping infrastructure. I think a good approach would be giving buyers an option to choose between: lose copy (disc/cartridge only), disc/manual only, disc/case only, complete in box.
But I don't think we will ever see that day... So yeah... At least we get funny and entertaining mystery roulette videos!

@@Official_RetroMania It’s honestly a shame, man. I, like many others, grew up with GameStop. I cherish them for those memories, but I can’t abide by their careless disregard for their customers and products. I want them to be better, but I agree with you. I don’t think we’ll see that improvement.
SOTC is absolutely a must finish game for this channel. The remaster adds some QOL without changing the core of the game so that is definitely recommended.

Man, Matty really went into this video with his whole chest out thinking something at Gamestop had changed. What a tremendous let down.

I get stickers off easily. I bought Goo Gone Pens from walmart. Its basically like a Tide To Go Pen but it works so good, just run the pen across it for it to get wet and it will peel off.

Hopped on the GameStop b2g1 sale. Got 50/50. Got 6 titles, 3 had cases, 3 did not. Was a little sad about the vita ones.

CEX here in australia is starting to sell games with printout cases, and usually I wouldn’t have too much of an issue because it’s at least better than the generic preowned cases that EB games use but it’s the fact that they charge the same price for a copy with a printout case compared to a genuine case copy

It's very cozy to watch these mystery game videos, even if a lot of the games you get are kinda crap haha, some of themI liked though, like I remember staying up late playing Dead Space Extraction on the Wii with one of my best friends because he had the other Dead Space games. Those were better obviosuly, but it was nice to play a fun unique spinoff even though it was on rails. It was the expreince with spending time with said friend :)

Very frequently GameStop doesn't send me games I've ordered. To answer your question, no, it wasn't included.
@@retrorebound8887 Sincerely hope that you reach out and get refunded when they don't deliver what you paid for. Getting incomplete/disc only copies is honestly what you expect because Gamestop refuses to ever guarantee you will get any game from them in perfect--or even suitable--condition, but if they drop the ball, get them to rectify it. You should never have to pay for their mistake of leaving things out of the order.

It's too bad they came in generic Gamestop boxes, but Dead Space Extraction and Sin and Punishment Star Successor are both really, really good rail shooters. Thoroughly enjoyed them. 👍
Sin and punishment star successor is a really fun game. It’s almost like a rail shooter but you have control of your character to move around the screen to dodge attacks. Great couch co-op game. I had this on my to get lost for a long time. I just got my copy during a July 4th sale from DKoldies of all places. They had it for $3.00 under price charting and I got to pick a second game with 50% off. Ha it took me 1.5 hours to find these 2 games that weren’t price gouged.

Hey dude with stickers, I recommend using glass/wood polish and a micro fibre cloth, take the art work out and spray it and leave it for about 2 minutes. All the sticker will come right off.
Here in Britain we have something called mr Sheen, if you guys have that too, id highly recommend.

Sin & Punishment is Pretty good for a sort-of run & gun on the rails shooter.
Its a sequel to the first one that released on the N64.
Dead space extraction is dope asf. One of the best on rail shooters ever made.
Might I ask why you would replace the case when you could just take a paper towel with some alcohol on it to get the sticker off?
you have inspired me to play the GameStop roulette! And my first game was Sly cooper Thieves in Time for the PS3. And it was a miss. Generic gamestop case, no boxart, no manual. But the disc looks to be in good condition. I bought three more games and can't wait for them to arrive! Thanks for these videos, they're always so entertaining.

LEGO Indiana Jones the original adventures was a total win, Complete in box with original ps3 case in good condition with box art and Manual! Lego Batman and Lego Star Wars the complete saga were both also complete in box with manuals! So that was 3 total wins! The last one was Lego Indiana Jones 2 the adventures continue, and it was a miss with a generic black case with no manual but it did have the box art so not as bad as the Sly cooper game. But Lego Indiana Jones 2 was only $5 so I can't really complain about it with such a good price.

when i went to GameStop today they had kingdom hearts 2 for the ps2 complete in box and they also had kingdom hearts 1.5 remix and kingdom hearts 2.5 remix for ps3

Remove the cover art from the case and soak the sticker with lighter fluid, let it soak for a minute and then peel it off.
Bleach Shattered Blade brings back memories. Sucks you could get a complete in box. It wasn't a good game but it came out when I was really into Bleach since the series had recently come over to the US. I still have my copy I got on release. If you don't have them would track down Bleach Blade of Fate and Bleach Dark Souls on the DS. They were treasure developed fighting games and were really fun.
I specifically don’t go the the store near me that does print out covers. It annoys me to no end.

I got resistance 1-3 from them recently. 1 and 2 were clearly owned by someone who took care not to mess with them and keep them relatively clean. 3 WAS A DISASTER. The guide book was wrinkled, frayed and stained with.... who knows what. The disc was scratched like crazy. Pissed me off lol but 2 for 3 ain't so bad with gamestop
I’ve had nothing but good luck with GameStop lately. Mom and Pops retro stores, not so much. Also, if my GameStop retro stuff doesn’t work, I can get my money back. With mom and pop shops, not only are they more expensive, if my item doesn’t work I am forced to pick something else in that store, even if I don’t want it.
Same I've gotten a cib path of radiance, Megman x3 (loose) and a silent hill 3 that was just missing the soundtrack
Just ordered 7 PS1 games from game stop. No manuals or original cases, all blank dvd cases not even ps2 style cases with memory card slots, not even pre owned slips. I got 2 copies of the same game instead of another game I order, one game doesn’t play and the double they sent me the first disc is snapped from them cramming 4 discs into a single dvd case. Lol definitely a big fail.

Bought a shin megami tense V steelbook and the moment I tried peeling off their back sticker it took part of the plastic covering to the steelbook. Definitely was pissed off
For sticker removal, have you tried isopropyl alcohol? I find that often works for me
Star Successor is actually a really good shooter on the Wii. It's a sequel from the N64 original. Highly recommended!
GameStop is selling graded sports cards they are on their last legs and this delivery is hard evidence. But Matt you got some banger games that you kinda shrugged off. Dead space and sin and punishment are probably the 2 best light gun type games on the Wii. If you are in the mood to break out that system or a Wii U if you have it, seriously each 10 hours of extreme fun gaming ✌️✌️✌️ I’m on a Wii collection kick right now and those were 2 of my top grabs. Maybe break out the Wii sometime, last story and pandoras tower might make great videos for the Nintendo fans

For the past two weeks I've been stopping by physically inside the GameStop stores and asking them is anyone traded in any PS2 or game cube they never have them out on the shelf It's always good to ask cuz you never know I came up on silent Hill 4 I came up on Grand theft Auto collection on the original Xbox I came up on Hunter the reckoning on GameCube and Mario toadstool golf on GameCube. I've also been picking up some PS3 and Xbox 360 games complete of course . Also got legacy of Goku 2 and 3 for the GBA incomplete.
Would collectors prefer reprint cover art or the general replacement cases, why?
I guess since these are all tax write offs, it’s ok for you to keep them. I’d be sending the whole order back. GameStop is clearing out the old warehouses to prepare for the inevitable bankruptcy and closure.
I made a pretty large order myself and i definitely think i made out ok but there was some disappointments, the prices were pretty good esp if you managed to order during the buy 2 get 1 free

I would be more likely to buy a disc only game with a "printout" knowing its printed cover art. so the game owners comment stands for me.

I bought a used 360 game and the manual had dried up blood on it so gross and the whole game smelled like smoke. Used games are starting to gross me out really prefer games that people took care of from a clean smoke free house.
just bought a few gamecube games from gamestop... 2 came one completely didnt work and looked mutilated and one hasnt shipped in over 10 days they really do suck
It's continuously disappointing to see how little Gamestop cares about their games.
not everyone keeps old games in perfect condition now a days let alone consoles as no one really buys them and or companies do not keep that stuff in supplies anymore because of those reasons
are you ordering all this stuff without using the gamestop membership? you'd probably pay for it with a single order, even though its a pretty terrible deal for the average person who doesnt buy a lot of used stuff.
